Walker's Shooting Training Protection 29 DB Omni-Directional Microphone Rope Hearing Enhancer Earbuds

I hate muffs for long guns, but also need to be able to hear on the range or while hunting. I tried several other options, and these are by far the best. I get a good 8 hours out of a charge, or a full day hunting. I was skeptical of the foam earbud only, thinking I would need a hook for them to stay in, but was pleasantly surprised at how well these stay in. I love that they're shaped like 9mm cases, for the old skool of us that remember using pistol cases as ear pro in a pinch. The battery life is much less if using bluetooth, but honestly, listening to music hunting or at the range is dumb. Where these shine is amplifying surrounding sounds, and then shutting off and acting as ear pro when a gunshot goes off. The NRR rating also surprised me. They kept me comfortable while talking to people at the table, while there was full auto AK fire going on at the next table. Hands down the best overall electronic hearing protection on the market.

I like these for outdoor use. I have used them at the shooting range as well as when working with loud power tools. I have a set of Walkers electronic muffs that I use for the indoor shooting range, so haven't tried these. Several reviews note noise when these rub on your collar. I don't find it overly distracting, but if I am wearing a hat I clip the cable to the back of the hat which keeps it off my collar.

Initially, I was not happy with this purchase. I called the manufacturer because I couldn't get them to fit in my ear. Long story made short, I had to change how I put them in. Basically, when putting in the left ear, I have to reach around the back of my head with my right hand, grab the top/back of my ear, and pull gently as I use the left hand to wiggle the earpiece it. When I let go of my ear, the ear canal snugs around the foam perfectly. Once I got this figured out, I was able to make an accurate assessment: Bluetooth: Can't tell you how nice it is to be able to attach this to my cellphone while at the range or in the field. Not for receiving calls (that can wait until later), but listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks. The only issue is my bluetooth connection dropped last time I tried to use it and there was nothing I could do to reconnect. Audio: Once I got the silly earpieces to fit right, the audio quality was very impressive. Noise Cancellation: I shoot a 300 Win Mag with a muzzle brake and it handles it just fine. Nuf said. My major deduction comes with windy conditions. If you turn off noise cancellation, no issues. With it on, the wind causes enough interference to make it hard to hear someone talking. If you turn your head at the right angle, it gets better, but still gets a deduction here. My over-the-ear muffs have no issues here. Battery Life: I can do two all day outings at the range with no recharge. Recharge is quick and easy. Use While Shooting: The main reason I bought this is the fact my over-the-ear muffs don't allow me the adequately "snuggle" my rifle -- they get in the way. These are perfect! There are other thoughts, but overall, I am happy with this purchase with the exception of bluetooth connectivity issues and wind issues. It accomplishes my main goal with only a couple negatives.

When it worked it worked good, but after a year it lost the right channel, about a month later the left started cutting out, now it doesn't work at all.

Not very comfortable. The smallest plug is too big for my ear. Difficult to insert properly for protection. The foam material is tough and scratchy. Rubs my ears raw. I was hoping plugs would soften. After eight weeks, I am looking for different pads. Not very good at controlling noise. Hard to hear people even when turned up. The performance of sound filtering does not fare well in comparison to other brands. I went back to using my old noise canceling PPE.

I wore them to the range and they worked perfectly. I had plenty of battery power for the time I was there. The volume controller works great so I can hear normal conversations. I used two different sizes of ear pieces to see which ones worked better for blocking noise with fit and comfort. Bluetooth connected to my I phone no problem and easy to use with phone calls and music. They where comfortable and for the money I would recommend.

I bought the "Rope" blue tooth version. I ended up returning it. Pros I liked that the electronics were separate for the amplifier and the blue tooth. You could turn each on independently or together. Also, a switch on feature, each side had it's own volume control. There was plenty of volume for enhanced hearing and for the bluetooth. It wasn't hard to put into my ears, and the earpieces were fairly comfortable for hours at a time. Cons For some reason . . . the rope that connects the left and right side is VERY sensitive! With the ear pieces turned on OR OFF, every time that middle piece of rope touched ANYTHING, you hear a loud almost rumbling sound. The middle rope almost was in constant contact with my shirt and my skin and it was very distracting, uncomfortable. I couldn't believe how loud it was even with the electronics turned off. I tried wearing different clothes as I normally wear a button down shirt. Even with a soft T-shirt, any part of the rope that makes contact makes a sound. Maybe some people could get used to the distracting noise, I couldn't. I also noticed that when walking fast, trotting the electric part of the sound cuts out. For grins, I wore this with the enhanced hearing while driving and found that with every single little bump in the road the sound cut out.

Kind of fixes all the issues with the walkers silencer bt's yeah the old school ones with the cases, yeah the rope can be annoying but honestly not too bad. I guess for the next gen use a usb-c but honestly I would rather just buy this the way it is than you increasing price for a v2 v3 leading to more ewaste this planet does not need... Thank you and I will be back for more : ) Sounds good, dont have to worry about charging connection issue with proprietary charging hardware/battery, easy to use, fairly durable obviously a cable to if you have two sumo wrestlers on each end I will guarantee you they will become inop... Price point decent for the capabilities and quality. Update: i can totally see why people are experiencing the battery issue. If you simply have the slidey knob that controls freq boost off before you power down via bluetooth button that controls the power, you might experience better battery life. Ymmv but i’d give this hypothesis a shot before asking for a rma.

2 stars since the pictures make it seem like the backs of them are magnetic to stay on your neck when they aren't in your ears but they are not. The enhancement works well enough havent tried them shooting yet but I will.
