Exceeds Expectation , a heavy duty piece of silicon
I was waiting for the price of 16 core Ryzen to drop ( drastically ) , but then this ryzen 9 , 12 core was offered at an attractive price. (Very ) Easy install into [ASUS-TUFGaming-B450-Plus-II] mobo, with a stock wraith cooler, with two M2 drives , and 64 GB or RAM ( which is the max supported by this board) . The mobo required a bios update to support this, then everything just worked. First thing, I do not use this for gaming ( and my graphics card is several years old anyway ) , primarily for development business software purposes. Installed windows 11 x64 without any issues. The CPU runs at idle for the background tasks, with average CPU core temperature between 50 - 55 degrees centigrade. Installed sql server 2022 from the M2 drive. This took less than 5 minutes, which is incredible, as this process typically takes over 30 minutes . Installing other business development tools was completed in record time, although this is aided hugely by the M2 drives ( 3.5GB / s allegedly ) . If you want to really take advantage of the capabilities of this CPU, you need M2 drives , not spinny disks, otherwise the CPU will spend much of its life in a wait state for data. Installed Asus Armoury crate which provides comprehensive feedback on the hardware. The CPU runs between 3.5 - 4.5 Ghz ( does not really matter that much with this many cores) . For the price, cannot fault the processor The one thing that is a minor issue is windows 11, which does not always play nicely with drivers. By default need to install all the supplied drivers from asus ( including bios updates ) , then should be okay. So far, this is the smoothest processor that I have installed, and I have used AMD for several years now Would recommend ( if you can purchase from a reputable vendor , rather than stock pilers )

4k? still not a problem.
The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Processor is an absolute game-changer for enthusiasts and power users. This CPU is a beast, offering incredible processing power and efficiency that will make any PC build shine. Performance: With its 12 cores and 24 threads, along with a whopping 70MB cache, this processor is a powerhouse. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or running resource-intensive applications, the Ryzen 9 5900X handles it all with ease. The max boost clock of up to 4.8 GHz ensures snappy performance even during demanding tasks. Temperature: It's worth noting that this CPU can run a bit warm, with temperatures fluctuating between 40-60 degrees Celsius under load. However, it's important to emphasize that this temperature range is well within the safe operating range for this processor and does not impact performance. To get the most out of this CPU, I highly recommend investing in a quality cooler like the Dark Rock Pro 4 or Noctua D15. These coolers will not only keep temperatures in check but also allow for potential overclocking without any thermal concerns. Versatility: What sets the Ryzen 9 5900X apart is its versatility. Ryzen 9 5900X Processor 12C is a music producers must have
As modern digital audio workstations no longer rely so heavily on single core processor speeds, I was looking for a multi core CPU. For e300, the Ryzen 9 5900X is at a nice sweet spot between the popular 3600g and a Threadripper. Using this CPU with Abelton the first time had me cooing about my previous 100 percent CPU usage projects only using 30-40 percent. Loading huge projects, that used to take 1-2 minutes to load, take 20-30 seconds. Moving large sections of songs is almost instant. Consolidating audio is also stupidly quick, which used to drive me mad waiting. All the little rendering processes are no longer an issue, which as a highly creative producer who needs to work on the fly, it's a God send. Rendering to a finished track still takes while though. As for gaming and other system processes, the 5900X beast. If you use your computer every day like me, or for work processes, and are on the fence about whether to fork out a bit more for 12 cores, DO IT!! This will literally make you happier. I'll never overlook the importance of a super fast CPU again. Vital bit of gear!

High Quality CPU
Good cpu. High stability and zero problems so far (after 2 years of daily use, about 10-12 hours per day). Good for all games I've tried out, both older titles and new tiple A games. I also do a lot of editing in both Photoshop and Premiere Pro and it works great in both; very few stutters and the extra core count helps when having multiple different editing suites open at once.

More cores, more power
Upgrading from a Ryzen 7 5800X to a Ryzen 9 5900X has been a noticeable step up in overall performance. The extra cores and threads make a real difference in heavier workloads, especially when multitasking, streaming, or running productivity tasks alongside gaming. In gaming, the improvement is more subtle but still present, with better frame stability in CPU-heavy titles and smoother performance when paired with a strong GPU. Where the 5900X really shines is in multitasking and content creation — rendering, encoding, and background workloads feel significantly faster and more efficient. Despite the jump in power, thermals remain manageable with a good cooler, and it still fits comfortably into the AM4 platform without needing a full system overhaul. Overall, coming from a 5800X, the 5900X feels like a more balanced high-end CPU that brings extra headroom and versatility rather than just raw gaming gains.

Great CPU, But...
This is a great CPU, however depending on what motherboard you are putting it in, you may need to update your BIOS, which I had too as it has gone into a B450 motherboard. It wouldn't however run stable once installed and BIOS updated, with frequent black screens and instability. I had to also update the chipset and CPU driver (do this from the AMD website) to get it to run stable and after that I had issues with heat. Regularly going up to 91 degrees under a moderate load, which then led to black screens and the CPU debug LED on the motherboard. I then replaced my case (from mid to full tower) and changed my AIO cooler as my 240mm just wasn't keeping it cool, now with a 360mm cooler, temps have reduced by 30 degrees under the same conditions and no longer shutting my system down. For this reason I've rated it 4 out of 5 stars. If you are upgrading the CPU but keeping an older motherboard you will need to have an idea what you are doing to get this to work as intended.

Hot Rod!
Great CPU for the price, bought for a new build to upgrade my tired old system. This CPU runs very hot!! It looks like it has very little in way of decerning when to boost the cpu clock and when not to making a toastie lil CPU even when your PC is doing nothing (even simple background tasks make use of the boost), am using a 2 fan watercooler and PC is sitting at 50 degree's C while doing relatively nothing. Though, when it's under load (gaming mostly) the temp doesn't really go much higher than this, 60 i think is the highest I've seen running max game settings @1440p.

Der Prozessor ist ja der Wahnsinn! (AMD Ryzen 9 5900X)

Upgrade
The Ryzen 9 5900X is hands down one of the best processors I’ve ever used, and I’ve built more PCs than I can count. From the moment I powered it on, the performance jump was obvious — lightning-fast boot times, seamless multitasking, and instant responsiveness no matter what I threw at it. This chip handles gaming, streaming, video editing, and multitasking all at once without even breaking a sweat. I paired it with a good cooler, and the temperatures stay surprisingly stable even under heavy load. The boost clocks hit consistently high speeds, and every game I’ve tested runs buttery smooth with zero lag or stutter. Where this CPU really shines, though, is in content creation and streaming. I use it as part of my streaming setup, and it absolutely chews through encoding tasks while maintaining flawless game performance. It’s the ideal processor for anyone who needs both power and efficiency — especially if you’re running OBS, multiple monitors, and browser tabs all at once. If you want to see what this processor is capable of in a real-world streaming setup, check out SassieJoXO on TikTok and Twitch — her streams run on a Ryzen 9 5900X system, and the smoothness and clarity are next-level. It’s a perfect example of what this CPU can do when properly configured. AMD really nailed it with this one. Between the 12 cores, 24 threads, and insane speed, the Ryzen 9 5900X is the sweet spot for serious gamers, streamers, and creators who want top-tier performance without going overboard on price. I couldn’t recommend it more — this CPU is a powerhouse and worth every penny.
