Most capable…
If you like statistical data this is for you. Ok, for me the data is overkill but it works great! I love that it syncs with the Garmin app automatically so you can check your stats anytime at your fingertips. It knows who you are and lets you know if your up or down from your previous weigh in. The styling is sleek and modern. Yes, I’d buy it again but now 9 months since purchase it’s still like new.

Plug and weigh!
Even though I may not always be happy with the numbers that I see, I am happy with this scale! It's on the pricier side, but as someone who uses a Garmin watch for my other activities etc it is nice to have my fitness and activity trackers synergized with my scale if my goal is weight loss. I have no way of knowing how accurate the water, muscle, and bone density calculations are but it's sort of a cool feature if you believe the numbers. It's also nice you can have multiple profiles on there if you have multiple users. It's easy to turn on, just give it a nudge, and in a second you can stand on it and get your weight. Hasn't died or had any glitches so I'm happy with it!

Garmin? More like Garbage.
It took me about 4 hours of troubleshooting (I'm an engineer and I never surrender) to finally figure out that this scale CANNOT connect to Wi-Fi on a 5 GHz frequency. It can ONLY connect to Wi-Fi on a 2.4 GHz frequency (which many people don't even use anymore!). Garmin's documentation fails to mention this! Searching the internet doesn't help much either, because there are thousands of people posting about Wi-Fi connectivity issues, but there are never any answers. Everyone just assumes they got bad hardware and gives up. I've never even heard of another product that had this issue, especially in 2023. Why Garmin?? The scale won't even work until it's connected to Wi-Fi. For everyone on 5 GHz frequency, most people will never figure out the problem, it doesn't even matter how much searching they do. Garmin is basically just shipping bricks to these people with no explanation. I had to reconfigure my router to expose both frequency bands just to connect this Garmin. After I did, we had to wait like an hour while the software updated. And I guess my wife & I must have sync'd our watches and stepped on the scale in the wrong order, because the scale started sending my weigh-ins to HER watch every time. Her weigh-ins are sent to my watch OR her watch, seemingly at random! (Thankfully it's a closed software issue, so I can't waste 4 more hours troubleshooting this one.) Even if we could get it to work correctly, this scale doesn't let you just stand on it. You have to tap it with your foot (just strong enough) first, wait ~5 seconds, and THEN stand on it. It's just an annoying usability hassle every morning, why on earth can't we just stand on it directly?? The lesson I learned is that it's best not to overcomplicate the little things you do every single day. We replaced this Garmin with a cheap $20 scale that just weighs us when we stand on it, and it's great. Garmin's watches are some of the most impressive, well-tested, and reliable electronics in any category, right up there with Boeing, even superior to Apple when it comes to testing and reliability. I never thought I'd have these kind of problems with any Garmin product. But these scales aren't contract-grade for government and military use (like the watches are), so I'm guessing Garmin simply has FAR lower standards when it comes to engineering/testing of purely consumer-grade products... If you happen to be using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, or if you're shipped different hardware than what we received, this scale might work great out of the box and maybe you'd be really happy with it like some of the other reviewers are (who knows). Personally I'd say don't gamble on this thing working correctly, just stick with something simple, and update your bodyweight in the Garmin watch manually every once in a while. My wife & I still love Garmin, we both wear & use the watches every single day, and we'll probably still be wearing Garmin 40 years from now, but we both hated this scale like nothing we've ever bought before. It's probably the worst product I've bought in 10+ years. (But please still buy a Garmin watch if you haven't already, it's amazing technology, and the community/challenges could seriously change your life if you're currently struggling with health/fitness.)

Setup is tricky, but works well
I'll try to make a long set up story short. Be aware that this requires a 2.4G wifi to connect;. It won't even display 5G SSIDs. I'm using it on a dorm network, which I assumed was 2.4. Don't assume. It didn't even display my SSID, when I could see other similar SSIDs broadcast. Finally figured out that my router wasn't on the 2.4G freq, so once I got that changed, the 2.4 G SSID showed on the Connect app list and I could connect. The scale itself works well; I like the info that it presents, and that it syncs with the app to keep a history of my stats. Only thing I don't like is I have one at home, as well, and the weather widget on this one shows the weather at home, not where I am locally. I'll have to look into that.

Seamless integration with Garmin Connect; body fat % is way off
I love how the scale integrates with Garmin Connect so I can track weight over time with minimal effort. Some reviews complained about getting the scale to turn on; mine turns on fine. I tap it once, wait for zeros to appear, and stand on it. My biggest complaint, and what made me give this scale 4 stars rather than 5, is the body fat tracking. It is so bad as to be worthless. I'm lean, with abs that are visible but not chiseled. I did a DEXA scan, which has me at 14.2% body fat, which is consistent with what I see in the mirror. The scale, however, shows me at 22.2% body fat. What's more, I've lost ten pounds this year, focusing on lifting heavy, doing cardio, eating at a caloric deficit, and getting enough protein, all for the purpose of prioritizing fat burning over muscle loss. Over this period, the scale shows that I've gone from 22.8% body fat to 22.2% body fat. My starting weight was 195 lbs, so according to the scale, I've gone from 44.46 lbs of fat (.228 x 195 = 44.6) to 43.29 lbs of fat (.222 x 195 = 43.29). In other words, according to the scale, out of 10 lbs lost, only 1.31 lbs was fat (44.46 - 43.29 = 1.31). I didn't do a starting DEXA scan, but this seems very wrong. The fat tracking is so bad that I could give the scale 2 or 3 stars, but I'm giving it 4 because the flaws are in the technology, rather than Garmin's implementation of it. None of these impedance trackers is accurate. My guess is that Garmin has to include one because everyone else has one. Just know that it is completely worthless. It will not give you a correct snapshot of your body fat at a given point in time, nor will it accurately track changes in fat composition over time.

Works great for me and wife
I got this scale for wife and I since we joined the Garmin ecosystem a couple months ago with our watches. I read the reviews and was kinda cautious. Really, I just want accurate weight and not have to remember it. From opening the box to having everything connected maybe took 5 min, just read the instructions word by word, it was easy. Compared the weight with the scale we are retiring and it matched. Now, for everything else the scale does, my wife has done at doctors office and says the numbers are comparable. Overall, I just had the extra money given to me from work from a "Wellness" fund so $200 wasn't out of my pocket, I just paid the taxes. I dont see any other reason to buy this scale if your not part of the Garmin Ecosystem.

Perfect Companion to Garmin Wearables — Seamless with Garmin Connect
I’ve been using the Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale for a while now and it’s been a great addition to my overall fitness tracking setup. The setup process was quick and easy, and it paired right away with Garmin Connect and my Garmin Fenix 8. Once connected, everything syncs automatically, which makes tracking progress really convenient. Step on the scale and the data shows up in the app without having to think about it. What I like most is how well it fits into the Garmin ecosystem. It tracks a wide range of metrics like body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, and body water, and all of that data helps contribute to Garmin’s overall health insights like projected fitness age. Seeing those trends over time is really motivating. Like any smart scale, the body composition numbers should be viewed as close estimates rather than exact measurements, but they’re very useful for tracking progress and trends over time. Overall, this is a well-designed smart scale that works perfectly with Garmin devices. If you already use Garmin wearables like the Fenix series, this is a great way to round out your health and fitness tracking. Highly recommended.

Not Bad But Should Be Better
I like Garmin so I am keeping it but overall I am kinda bummed out. It is not bad but I expected more for the price. The scale has weight fluctuations sometimes literally seconds later. These are often remediated by taring the scale but still. It only supports 2.4GHz WiFi and up to WPA2. The body fat calculations are off but I have yet to see a scale be good at that. It is also annoying that you have to tap or essentially shake the thing to get it to wake. Stepping on it doesn't always wake it up. I like how it looks. I like the morning weather display. It syncs seamlessly with Garmin Connect. Setup was not hard but I am more technically experienced than the average user. Still, in the end, it is basically an okay scale with WiFi that syncs to an app. Should be priced at $80 or less in my opinion.

Garmin sempre top
Tutto perfettamente imballato ed arrivato nei tempi. Avendo l'ecosistema Garmin mancava solamente lei per completare i miei dati con una misura precisa del peso

Fat % way off, and
Is so inacurate, I wouldn't bother, there's better ones for €40

Nearly didn't buy this. Glad we did
We were put off by the reviews and nearly didn't bother with this, but they're really great scales. Having them on a flat, stable surface is important (our bathroom floor has slightly uneven tiles, so we have it on hardwood elsewhere). A light tap with your toe activates the scales. No home device is ever going to be as accurate as a DEXA, but the readings are pretty accurate - we tested the body fat % with callipers, and the scales seem to be brutally honest 😂 The display on the scales is very clear. Pairing this with a Garmin watch and Cronometer gives us online dashboards (not just phone apps) that supply enough stats to keep us nerdily motivated!

Beware of import duty
After purchasing these from Amazon UK, I received an invoice from FedEx for £39.07 for import duty, argued that Amazon were the importer but they wouldn't budge and I've had to pay this. The scales look good, weigh accurately but as for some of the other features I'm very dubious of their accuracy. For instance if my weight goes up by 1Kg after the weekend it shows my muscle weight being higher by a corresponding percentage which of course is nonsense, similarly if my weight goes down. The initial body fat percentages were far higher than the professional machine I'd been using but Garmin say in their literature if you have your own figures from a Dexa machine or similar to manually enter these body percentages and then miraculously it simply mirrors them going forwards, altering the muscle mass as your weight varies week to week. It seems that they know their own machine isn't accurate - A waste of money if you want to measure performance /gains over a period - according to these scales and the way they work, all I need to do is stuff my face to put on 5Kg and it will say I've put on 1-2Kg of muscle, regardless of the body composition.
