Charged my phone to about 60% then melted to my phone and the phone now no longer works

At first I thought I had a defective cable as it did not work in my wall surge protector usb port. Turns out the surge protector was at fault as this cable works just fine with a regular usb wall charger. Its hard to find 2.4A cables that are coloured. It charges my phone fairly fast for an old phone. I am happy with this cable.
