Solid brackets. They can be mounted a few different ways for however you think looks best, I'm surprised by how low profile they are even though they are pretty thick.

I used these for my 03 GMC Sierra. The self tappers included were a little small in my opinion. So I used larger ones I had. They fit great. And are very sturdy

Perfect fit on an 05 silverado. Note that you are gonna have to drill into your truck. I suggest putting some silicone where the holes are to make sure it's water tight.
