Great for firepit
Looks fairly similar to burlap, but with a tighter weave. Currently using it as an "outdoor rug" underneath a raised firepit. Great at keeping stray embers from causing issues. Larger than any other protective mat, but not really designed for heat protection, so if you have a lower firepit or grill, this probably wouldn't work for you. Overall very pleased with this product.

Unsure of durability and protection
I have a brand new concrete patio and we have a propane gas fire pit and a wood burning fire pit that was the reason for purchasing something to protect my patio. First off this doesn’t have any sewn seams so the ends have a lot of loose strands. My concern is how well this will ultimately hold up and protect the concrete under it. What I did was folded it over providing double protection. We had a wood fire one night that lasted about 3 -4 hours. When the fire went out I pulled this way from Where it was and felt the concrete and it was extremely hot. The next day I noticed the concrete was slightly discolored. So next time I will fold It over a second time providing 4 layers of insulation from heat. My fire pit is a standard round pit where the base is about 4” from the ground. Pretty much typical of most fire pits. My concern is how well will this hold up over time considering the condition after 1 fire. Will update further

Very versatile
I needed a way to ensure sparks didn't get on a rug and this thing is awesome! I attached it to cement board and it is absolutely the best!
