I'm not sure this should be listed as an "Expansion". Isn't this a second base set? Isn't "Ascension: Immortal Heroes" the expansion for this base?

Yes, this is the second base set of the game and "Ascension: Immortal Heroes" is the expansion to it. However, you could combine both the first and second base set cards to make a larger game, so it could theoretically be an expansion as well as a new base set.

Is this the second edition, with the newer updated frames?

I haven't been able to find a 2nd edition anywhere, but there are some cards from the set 1 of Block 2That have the updated frames. I saw them in a Google image search.stay away from the Collection Foil set because it's terrible and very difficult to see the art work.Under a light while playing the game it's an ocean of glare. Unusable.
