Box is described as "Material: Metal" It is not. The box is cardboard and the insert is plastic.

It keeps my cards organized. One feature I really appreciate is the built-in mechanism that prevents the cards from falling over, keeping everything upright even when the box isn’t full. It’s sturdy, practical, and perfect for keeping cards organized.

First, as has been pointed out, the box is not metal it's cardboard (and not particularly heavy cardboard). When filled with index cards, this box would be easily damaged. The label holder appears to be thin metal. Secondly, the spacing insert is plastic, unsubtantial, easily falls out because it is held in place by a notch in the cardboard, or can be broken. Thirdly, the black lid with blue container is a weird color combination and not particularly attractive. On the positive side, this actually does hold 4x6" cards. In sum, this is a poorly-designed item made not-to-last, but regrettably holds its own in comparison to other items currently available for sale. UPDATE: The seller made an extraordinary effort to replace the damaged card box. 2 other card boxes ordered arrived without damage. Unfortunately the build of the item does not match the quality of customer service. The card boxes are not well made; the label holder was detached in 1 box, a spring had come loose in another; the 2 other holders were fine.

These boxes were exactly what I was looking for. Having the sliding adjustable stop in the box was an awesome feature I hadn't expected.

Liked the size. For me, long divider would have been nice for the size of cards, I was using.

Basically this is a good quality shoe box with an interior follower-mechanism to keep cards straight and a pull knob on the front. I believe the cardboard could be a bit heavier than it is, however it seems of sufficient strength to hold 1,000 cards' weight, as I have tried. No perceivable deformation of structure while file is carefully moved around carrying this amount of weight. I augmented my purchase by attaching rubber corner guards to both top and bottom sections. These corner guards will protect against the dings to corners which are inevitable during prolonged usage of the file. The rubber corner guards on the base also serve as excellent non-slip feet. I am quite satisfied with this file and would recommend it to your purchase If you are looking for such. 5 stars for simple and elegant design.
