Perfect for My Needs
I am a console gamer, with an Xbox One X, Series X and a Nintendo Switch, possibly getting a PS5 in the future to play those Sony IPs. Anyway, I have a Gen 3 Astro A50, a great headset that I have configured to play audio from my PC and Xbox One X at the same time. This allows for notification and any other audio from my PC to come across through the 'Voice" channel on my headset with the USB plugged directly into my PC. The optical audio is ran from my console to my base station. Then the Series X releases and NO OPTICAL AUDIO PORT?! I tried the aux-in option from my PC, but this adds a horrendous buzz in my ears, and the Xbox and Sony solution is to only allow USB audio, so this pretty much deems my set-up as a no-go. Enter this fantastic device. I added this into my extensive HDMI line, which runs from my consoles, through a switcher, to this device, to my PC for capture then finally to my monitor. Not only does it work perfectly for my previous setup, it works perfectly with the switcher as well. I have yet to try it with my Switch, but as soon as my upgraded HDMI switcher comes next week, I will update this review. I'm hoping this allows this ONE headset to work across three, or more, consoles AND my PC without having to switch any cables for the headset. I'm also going to add an Amazon Fire Stick to the switcher and test the audio capabilities through that as well. Update coming soon, with pictures and video!

THe Astro Gaming Adapter worked perfectly with the PS5
I had tried several different solutions to get a speaker to work with the PS5. I have the PS5 connected to a monitor not a TV and it was impossible to find a solution. I searched YouTube for a solution and found the Astro Gaming adapter. I was a bit skeptical since I had tried everything to make it work. I used a Yamaha Soundbar with the optical input and it works perfectly.

Product failure after 4 months
If you have an Astro headset with the mix amp and want the full functionality of controlling voice/game volumes independent of each other this is the correct product. Worked exactly how I hoped but after 4 months it has decided to quit working entirely. Not sure the cause of failure but probably overheating? Product box says 1 year limited hardware warranty but amazon's policy is 30 days for returns so not sure where that leaves me. Worst case scenario I'll buy another one and hope it last longer.

This thing is trash
This adapter worked as advertised for the first few months (2-3) I had it, but I noticed it kept getting hotter and hotter as the time passed. Eventually it hit a point where it was literally overheating and causing the HDMI signal to no longer pass through the adapter at all. My screen blacks out constantly with it attached, and that's after having replaced 2 HDMI 2.1 cables at an additional cost of $60 for the set. Eventually I just hooked my optical audio directly to the TV optical audio to and said screw it to this adapter altogether and IT WORKS PERFECTLY without it. Poorly made, likely from trash components. I'm extremely disappointed in this purchase and would never recommend it to anyone. I wish I could get my money back because this was nothing short of a complete and utter waste of money. So mad, especially since I love my A50s.

4K @ 60 plus CEC and HDR!!
I’ve tried getting other adapters and none of them would output to my Samsung Q60 correctly. They either blinked when the output was selected or it would seldomly work. I first used a cheap USB cable and I wasn't getting HDR but then I used the USB that was included with the adapter and the ps5 picked up on it no problem! I can confirm that this adapter is running 4k at 60fps for my games. If you're looking for the best astro fix for the ps5, this is it. Just remember that this adapter does not support outputs of 120fps so you won’t getting that here.

Great adapter to use with the ps5 as the console didn't come with an optical cable port. One issue I have is when downloading a game while the ps5 is in rest mode my TV constantly disconnects and reconnects the ps5 input, showing a message of this every 3 seconds. Very annoying when trying to use TV for anything else other than PS5

I bought this adapter in August 2023 and after about 1.5 years it stopped sending video to my TV. I tested with several HDMI cables that work fine directly between the console and the TV, so the issue is definitely with the adapter. Very disappointed, I expected it to last longer.
