## Description

Our Classic Freehub Oil is a great addition for the bicycle market and another superior product from Dumonde Tech. Freehub Oil is the original lubricant on the market specifically designed for Pawl style freehubs which require a lightweight lubricant. Freehub Oil performs consistently throughout a wide temperature range. Flow Point is -40 degrees, is extremely low friction, providing the greatest protection. Simply follow the manufactures specification for the volume of oil required in your freehub body to experience the superior performance of Dumonde Techs Freehub Oil. With Freehub Oil being light weight, growing reports for other applications have been reported. It can be used as cable lube and brake lever lubricant for the small moving parts and the light weight spring action they have. Time and cold temperatures do not effect performance of Freehub Oil like with heavier viscosity, time and temperature aged greases. They become thicker and stickier as they age slowing down the parts action. PRO X Freehub Oil is Used, Sold, Endorsed and highly Recommended by: Industry 9 Torch Hydra and 101 hubs, Project321 and Kappius Components. Used, Endorsed and Recommended: Pacenti Cycle Design, Profile Racing, Crank Brothers, Ritchey Design, Loaded and e*thirteen.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work with shimano/stan’s freehub and is fh oil preferred or fh grease?**
A: This is free hub oil so it will work with any free hub that requires oil or grease. For me I have an I9 Hydra hubs and I use both the free hub oil and free hub grease. Do not use regular grease. I9 hubs need to be looked after on a regular basis so I'm always keeping things nice a lubed. The oil will make my hubs louder ,the grease quieter . So whatever free hub you have it won't matter if you use oil or grease ,just keep them clean and lubed and they will perform well for a long time

**Q: Anyone use this oil for dt Swiss ratchet system instead of the special pink grease? Does this make the hub louder?**
A: You should stay with the special DT grease for your DT hub.

**Q: Dose this work for 3 speed vintage hubs?**
A: This oil might work for 3spd hubs, but it's not formulated for that. I've used regular 30wt motor oil, or Sturmey Archer oil for old 3spd hubs, and it works fine. Dumonde Tech Freehub Oil is formulated for lubing the click mechanisms and bearings in Shimano, Mavic, and similar click pawl freehubs bodies.

**Q: Is this the Pro-X freehub oil or is it different?**
A: I don't know if the Pro X lube is any better. The regular Dumonde Tech FH oil seems to work well, is lightweight, and the pawls in my FH don't stick. I service my FH at least yearly, probably about every 3,000 miles or so. Biggest problem: some freehubs are so well sealed up it's difficult flushing them out and getting new lube in. Mavic FHs are super easy, and older Shimano FHs are also easy; newer high-end models are hard to lube.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ WORKS VERY WELL
*by R***C on July 14, 2020*

This stuff works exactly as claimed. Here's what happened, and how this oil fixed my mistake...The last time I cleaned and re-greased my hubs I must have been a little over zealous with grease in the rear hub because after reassembly, the ticking of the pawls became quieter, and quieter, and quieter.I knew I'd made a mistake, but decided to test-ride the bike and see if the pawls functioned correctly under "real world" conditions. They seemed fine (but absolutely noiseless), so I decided to be lazy and not clean the grease out.A couple months passed during which my freehub would skip on occasion -- it never had before -- and the skipping grew worse as time progressed into winter.Pretty soon I felt like I'd be a fool to continue going out for a ride and I had to admit to myself that my pawls were now encased in grease that simply was too sticky and wax-like for them to engage reliably in cold temperatures. With a "Grrr" I removed the freehub body, flushed the grease out of it, and applied this Dumonde Freehub Oil.The now correctly-lubed pawls were singing again with that cheerful tick I've loved since childhood, and their action was restored to being quick and reliable -- even in subfreezing temperatures.I know freehub bodies are cheap, but I wanted to experiment and then FIX my mistake. The freehub has been working perfectly ever since.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked fine on my Torch
*by T***K on June 15, 2021*

Upgraded my Industry Nine Torch from a 3-pawl Shimano driver to a 6-pawl XD driver. After watching a few videos, I bought this liquid AND the Dumonde grease to complete the job. In one video I watched, a drop of oil was used in the cavity where the spring goes and where the pawl goes. When all 6 springs and pawls are in place, I put a small dab of the grease on top of each pawl and then around the inside of the cog on the wheel. Final step was a bit of oil around the red seal before installing the driver onto the axel and into the housing. The result, for now, is one VERY quiet torch hub. We'll see how long that lasts. My only gripe is that it's bloody pricey, but this little bottle will prob last a lifetime. I'll pass it down to my kids so they can rebuild their hubs too...

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Freehub oil - as advertised
*by W***E on January 16, 2025*

I ordered this to use on my 1999 Trex mtb. I had the freehub off of the bike and cleaned it. Used this to oil it up before putting back into service. It did the trick and would recommend.
