Great for acoustic instruments!
I play classical guitar mostly and use this mic for streaming, Instagram and YouTube videos and even the occasional Spotify release. As a mic for video and live streaming it’s perfect, but it leaves a bit to be desired for studio settings. I still prefer my cheap audio technica small diaphragm mic, and it absolutely can not compete with something like a Newman, but I sometimes add it to the mix if I get it in a particularly nice spot. Other than it leaving a little to be desired in color and clarity for an audio recording it’s a great mic! Sturdy and compact, I can record or stream anywhere with minimal fuss, with really clean clear quality. The built in compressors really make setup for that stuff easy. Make sure to turn them off before recording for an audio recording though, they do not help the end result of a mix. The compressors are perfect if you’re not planning to add anything more than a little reverb or eq, but any added compression or limiting in the mix on top of the built in ones sound terrible on acoustic instruments in my opinion. The video is just the built in acoustic setting with no additional effects.

Sounds great! Well made.
Wanted a USB mic for my iPad Pro to demo vocals while in my car on lunch. In the last few years I’ve dumped the large recording studio and went mobile. I was between this mic and the Hype pro. Since I own multiple Shure mics, I went with this one. Sounds really good, even in the car. Thing is a tank. Only complaint is it’s larger than I expected. Plug in and record. Has worked will all of my apps so far. Would like to see a compact version. I also own a MV88 and the sound quality just isn’t as good as MV51.

Finally the holy grail of recording equipment, all you will ever need in one item.
Amazing microphone, nothing else needed. I have been recording with all sorts of equipment, and have basically thrown them all out. I just connect this mic to either my mac mini or directly to my iphone, set it to acoustic guitar mode, and even don't need to do any audio processing afterwards.

Great sound quality and simple to use
I’m super happy! It is heavy in the hands and I LIKE that! It’s really simple to use. The audio quality on my Zoom meetings have been dramatically improved. Before I started using it for my Zoom meetings I tested it. I tried all settings and played a lot with the mic gain. For me , it works using it with the speech option and gain set to 5. When I use it with the gain set to 6 my voice is clearer and deeper but it has too much noise for my taste. So I set it to 5 and was more than pleased with the audio quality. How did I test it? I used the voice memo app in my Mac. And I started recording saying something like “this is a test with the mic in guitar setting and gain set to 6...” and I continued changing the settings while still recording. After I tried all settings, I knew that the speech option was the best for me. After that, I continued recording my voice and testing the different gain levels. It was like “now testing speech with gain in five, (switched it to six), now testing speech with the gain set to six( or four, three...). It was a little of work but I enjoyed it because I know how people is going to listen to my voice.

Smooth and present sound, excellent noise rejection for a large diaphragm usb microphone.
Excellent build quality, natural vocal tone, and great noise rejection, especially for a USB microphone. Because of that, I give it 5 stars as a desk recording mic. I'm using it for voice work, so check other reviews for the presets and musical recording. The only downside I can find is that the flat signal, 'no preset,' may not have enough gain for softer, low volume voices. If however you're using the voice preset, you are good to go.

Excellent sound and build quality, get your own cable
I was looking for a mic to use while streaming, and Shure is already a name I trust, so I figured I'd give this mic a shot. I use this mic about 2 feet from me and my audience hears me clearly. I use it on my desk with the stand, but you can put it on a dedicated mount by removing the rubber screw-in foot on the leg in the back. It comes with an adapter to fit a smaller post, but I found it incredibly difficult to remove once screwed in. I had considered putting it on a tripod but that adapter was so hard to remove that I just decided to use it on my desk for now. Using the touch buttons makes things pretty easy, since you don't need to interface with software if you don't want to. I only have one gripe, and that's the abnormally short 3 foot cable length. This might be fine if you are using this with a mobile device that is right next to the mic, or with a laptop that is also very close. It couldn't make the distance from the back of my desktop tower to where I have it resting on my desk without being almost completely taut. It comes with multiple cables, but they are all this unreasonably short length. Contrary to what I have read in another review, the cable is standard. I am using a 10+ year old USB-A to Micro USB cable from a Blackberry and it is working perfectly. If you don't have a similar cable around, then I'd strongly suggest getting a longer cable if you plan on using this for any normal distance. Aside from that, I have no complaints. The build quality is solid, heavy metal and it's been working wonders for me in the couple of months that I have been using it.

Great for my home office
This mic is great. I am at a room that has a lot of echo and and that makes me sound with feedback most of the time or muffled. Day one I got unsolicited compliments from people that my voice sounded very clear. I use it for my conferences using my computer audio (remember to tweak the settings). I does not seem to work for phone conversations (although it can be used for recordings or iPhone videoconferencing) and I think it is not the device’s fault but the limitations of audio quality over a phone infrastructure. However, my colleagues who dial in can hear me perfectly as long as I use this mic connected to my computer audio to get the signal in.

I often wondered why Computer microphones were not made by companies that were known for mics???
All I can say, is that this microphone is outstanding. It is well thought out and not based on "Marketing" rather than performance and function. I am an audiofile and enjoy some high end home audio equipment. When the pandemic hit like many I was having "zoom" meetings and found so often people were asking "what did you say" or "sorry can you repeat that" so like many I went online looking for a better "COMPUTER MICROPHONE" I must have spent like 1-week looking at different funky brands... some spent more time talking about the LED's and ability to changer colours then they did about the performance and operation of the microphone itself. One day I woke up and was listening to some high quality Media (CD's) and one just sounded so good. I thought boy I wonder how this disc was recorded... I opened the little booklet and as I was reading in the details of the recording, there is was SHURE brand microphones... I almost wacked myself in the head and said... hey I forgot about SHURE! so I went online and looked them up and although they are not the typical branded computer microphone... I found this one and I ordered it. Not a word of a lie.... the first zoom meeting in the first conversation, one of my colleagues asks.... what did you do to your computer? I am like "What do you mean" he says... "I can hear you like you are sitting beside me in the room at my computer." For the rest of the meeting everyone let me talk and say my thoughts and frankly I realized that I had more attention and authority in this meeting than I had in any previous ZOOM meeting. I realized that this came from the fact I sounded so "REAL" and clear. I know such a silly thing... but these zoom meetings lose that personal touch, that "in your face" type conversation but one with subtlety and inflection. The nuance in the way you deliver a word that changes its grammatical meaning. All these calls and meetings and I waisted so much time and effort talking and not being heard (Figuratively speaking). This Shure microphone gave me an immediate presence and advantage and honestly has become my closest business friend. I am constantly being called and asked about what I use for a webcam, and when I ask what it is about their inquiry caused their call... they always say THE AUDIO! I then explain that although I have a good quality webcam (1080P) the audio is my microphone and when they learn what I am using most say, "hey I remember Shure is that the same brand that makes microphones for the stage and concerts?" and I say yes, then they usually say...wow why dont more of the computer systems come with shure branded microphones... I say I have no idea... and in the few situations where my colleagues have purchased the shure microphone... I always get a call back with a thank you for recommending such a good well built excellent performing microphone! I highly recommend buying this unit and can seriously say... it is SOOOO MUCH better than most of the "computer brand marketed" units... with fancy blue LED lights! Shure does what it has always done on stage or in studios... makes you sound really really good! Andy Garbas
