I picked up the Estwing 3lb Drilling Hammer specifically to help me with a NorCal mod, and it turned out to be the perfect tool for the job. This hammer is compact, but it packs a serious punch. It has a great, simple feel, the head is heavy and well-balanced, and the grip keeps it steady even when things get greasy or dusty. It’s got that classic Estwing durability, so it handles the hard strikes you need for modifications without feeling like overkill. This hand sledge is solid, it has a good grip and good impact surface. It is well made and so far has worked great to hammer wood wedges and spikes.

I use this mostly for landscaping work. Pounding stakes and assorted other tasks. The grip is great, the weight is perfect and has held up to solid abuse. A little bit more then the cookie cutter ones but I truly believe the extra couple bucks is worth it if you plan to use it regularly.

I bought this thing years ago and I still have it and it still works well. This is a workhorse of a hammer and has survived many demolition jobs. Hammer hits like a truck and the handle has withstood many accidental hits to framing and concrete alike. If it ever breaks, I’ll just buy another one of the same exact hammer cause I like it.

This hammer is the right size for sledging around the house. It looks great and makes you feel like Thor! Larger hammers ask for two hands and often sacrifice precision. This thing gives up impact in exchange for one handed use and precise strikes. I find it easy to use, am very pleased with the material and craftsmanship, and find it has enough heft to get the job done. I used it to install multiple 8' copper grounding rods, so plenty of drive on this.

I needed a hammer that was handy (not too heavy) and packed a punch. This hand sledge was perfect for what I needed it for. ESTWING has been my choice in hammers for years and I have never been disappointed with their products.
