Cat Urine BEWARE!!
I purchased this for the express purpose of removing cat urine stain/odor from a VERY expensive leather jacket. The process had multiple steps and required serious committment, BUT it WORKED. So I am praising this product and posting the multi-step process here - in case anyone else has a naughty kitty! Follow ALL the steps - I did and the jacket came out looking and smelling brand new! Basically, the sooner you attack this stinky problem, the higher the likelihood the condition, odor, and texture of the leather won’t be permanently damaged. Items You’ll Need to Eliminate the Smell Enzyme Odor Removal Solution Specifically Engineered for Pet Odors (Biokleen Bac-Out!!!) 2 Kitchen Towels (I used cloth baby diapers - new ones) Tupperware Box w/ Lid (The jacket was large so I used a huge zippered bag that a comforter came in) Borax (I used 20 Mule Team!) Gallon Sized Ziplock Back (Or Trash Bag for Larger Items) 2-3 Pieces of Activated Charcoal Saddle Soap Tea Tree Oil (I did not need this part, the odor was gone) 9 Easy Steps for Removing Cat Urine Smells from Leather (As originally written by Sarah B. on the petluvr website) Moisten a kitchen towel with enzyme odor remove and absorb as much of the cat pee as possible. This eradicates the microbes that causing unpleasant smell. Saturate the affected area with the enzyme cleanser. If you’re using a spray bottle, you might want to take the top off and pour it directly onto the place of the pet’s accident. Saturate another towel with more of your favorite cat urine odor removal product. Place the towel on top of the area and let it sit for 3 hours. If you’re able, place another towel (or wrap part of the other towel) underneath the leather so your getting both sides of the leather. Find a large Tupperware box that’s large enough to place the item in. Pour borax into the box until the borax is 1 inch deep. Place the smelly item into the box and pour additional borax on it so that it’s completely covered. If your try to remove feline or dog urine from a large a couch, car interior, or something else that’s very large, just pour the borax directly on area where the pet peed. Fill one cup of activated charcoal and place it inside a plastic bag (ideally a Ziploc or other airtight bag). After it has soaked in the borax box for 24 hours, place the soiled leather item into the Ziploc along with the charcoal. Now you’ll place the plastic bag back into the box with borax. (So, you’ve got the soiled item inside the plastic bag, and the plastic bag inside the box.) Seal the box with as close to an airtight lid as possible. Let the item sit in the sealed box for 3-5 days. (Allow for a longer time if the urine was initially untreated for longer than a 24 hours.) When you remove the leather item (purse, cushion, jacket, etc.), the cat urine smell should be completely removed. Let the leather naturally air dry to prevent damage or water stains. After it’s dry, use clean the leather with a very generous amount of saddle soap. This will ensure you retain the natural condition of the leather and give the leather a natural scent too. If the leather seems to be dry, you can also try gently massaging a soft cloth that has a few drops tea tree oil on it. **I did not try the tea tree oil - didn't need it) The pungent urine aroma is still there, repeat steps 1-8. Only do this two more times to prevent damaging the leather. Pointers and Warnings Always test a small amount of cleaning products on a small, hidden piece of leather to make sure it doesn’t harm the texture, condition, or color of the leather. To maintain and restore the softness of the leather, try applying very light, unscented baby oil. Do not use ammonia or alcohol-based solutions. Ammonia will only make the smell worse. Alcohol will dry out the leather. (Be careful. Nature’s Miracle Pet Odor Remover contains alcohol.) Avoid cleaning the leather frequently. It can cause the material to crack. Clean it only when its stained or develops strong smell of pet urine. Cat urine is much more concentrated than dog urine. Try to clean cat accidents as soon as possible. If your pet urinated on a leather couch, be sure to check the carpet next to or below it. Getting rid of pet urine odors from a carpet requires different steps. By following the steps outlined above, you should be able to treat, clean, and eliminate pet urine that’s come in contact with most leather items. GOOD LUCK!

Powerful Household Helper with Surprising Pest Control Benefits
Powerful Household Helper with Surprising Pest Control Benefits I picked this up primarily for household use, but I’ve been impressed with just how versatile it really is. Most people know Borax as a laundry booster, and it does a great job there—brightening whites and cutting through musty smells—but where it really surprised me was in pest control. I’ve been using it in targeted areas as an insecticide against cockroaches, and it’s been extremely effective. It doesn’t just mask the problem; it actually helps eliminate them when applied correctly. On top of that, it’s useful for a range of other household purposes—freshening carpets, deodorizing trash bins, even making DIY cleaners. The powder dissolves well and a little goes a long way. One thing to keep in mind is that, like any chemical product, you’ll want to keep it away from kids and pets and use it carefully in food prep areas. Bottom line: A multipurpose product that really delivers, both in the laundry room and as an effective cockroach killer. A staple worth keeping on hand.

Over 30 years of loving this product!
I am a huge advocate of 20 Mule Team Borax and probably can't say enough good things about it. Not only is it environmentally safe, it is a very powerful laundry additive. I originally purchased the product when I had a baby in diapers because it is one of the best laundry deodorizers on the market. In those days (yes I'm that old) we used Borax in our diaper pails because it eliminated the odors and its natural ingredients were never harsh on the baby's skin. I actually used to keep my top-loading washing machine with a tub full of Borax in water and just throw the baby's things in there when they were dirty. About every few days I would run the load of clothes - perfect baby clothes with no stains! About ten years ago I got my first 'he' front-loading washing machine and of course began to struggle with the stinky mildew-y smell those machines can develop. I read somewhere that instead of paying exorbitant amounts for the "official" tub cleaning tablets, you could run an occasional cycle of just Borax and not only eliminate the odor, but do so much more economically and with an environmentally friendly product. I've been using Borax for that purpose ever since. The combination of using Borax to clean the machine and always leaving the door ajar just a bit ensure I never have a smelly washer! Currently, I live with extremely hard water and for a while after I moved here, I was struggling with getting clothes as bright and clean as I like. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until a neighbor told me it was because the water here is so hard. (I actually suspected my new washing machine was the culprit!) I researched what to do about hard water online and got led to Borax! Sure enough, I checked out the Borax box and saw a treatment for hard water (1/2 cup per load, but because of the water conservation features of my new washer, I use about 1/4 cup). Sure enough - clothes are back to the beautiful clean I love! Try this product. I think you'll be pleased.

Part of the BEST RV tank treatment!
I use this for everything it says it’s for, laundry, cleaning and deodorizing! And it’s GREAT! BUT It’s also great as part of the GEO method to treat RV holding tanks! Got RV holding tank odors? Try this - 1 cup Borax, 1 cup Calgon, 1 cup PineSol (or Fabuloso) mixed well in a gallon of water. You can also use a cup of cheap fabric softener before any of it and it - will just help coat the tank. Add a couple more gallons of water and bye bye tank odors. PS Add to empty flushed tank before travel each time and after a few times- bye bye stuck sensors, too. You’re welcome 🙏

Came in a different box than showen, but works its magic just the same! 😊 (same box shopping centers have!) I soaked my supposedly clean white towels (White with no marks) And the water was very discolored, and they were even whiter! Instructions: -add extremely hot water ⅓ of the tub -add 2½ cups of borax and stir until fully dissolved. -Put towels in and swirl around a bit. -stir towel/item around every few hours to ensure every inch get a good evening soak. -let sit overnight. - drain tub -wring out the towels/items and throw them in the washing machine -dry as usual. 🪄TA DA 🎩

Just as expected. I use this product to kill grubs in the lawn, to get rid of ants, as a cleaning powder, brazing flux and as laundry booster. Multipurpose (but never add it to your food or drinks).
