The box they come in is nice and sturdy (with European pricing printed on it), but it wasn't taped shut so the knives had moved out of their slots and were scratching up against each other, the paint on the blades was flaking off and there were cuts from the blades on some of the handles. I don't know what kind of paint is used on them, but it isn't solid all the way through the blade, the paint flakes came off on my hand, as I was looking at them. The yellow knife handle has a red smear from rubbing against one of the red handles. I was planning to use these on a magnetic wall mount in a vacation rental property, but if they got this banged up in shipping, I don't see them looking nice for long in a vacation rental.
