I have been using this product since the early 1990"s!
I'll give a really short & to the point testimony of this product! I'm not sure how many know, or might even fully understand how the Early VW beetle cooling system worked? It only had Engine Oil to Cool & keep the Engine from Locking up! Yet, while driving to work one day after changing my engine Oil and adding this exact product to my VW engine, my Fan belt broke which kept the VW Engine Cooled while driving. After the Fan belt broke, I had to keep driving to get the car off of the highway where I was on my way to work. I thought, surely the engine is SHOT? But, after I kept driving all the way to work, the VW Engine kept running and NEVER LOCKED UP? I got to work on time without stopping on the side of the road and waited until after I got off work to replace my broken Fan belt. All the while as I was working, I thought I would have to have my VW towed home that day? Little did I know, that after I replaced my broken Fan belt. I went to start my car, and it STARTED RIGHT UP, and Ran Like a CHAMP!! I immediately knew WHY it was Still Running!! Since then, I have Been a SLICK 50's FAN!! A True Diehard, that has literally USED this product in EVERY SINGLE Car/Truck I have Owned since that incident on that faithful Day! Prove for yourself what I say!

A very good additive!
I first used Slick 50 in the late 80s when it debuted and things change, right, but the description says "Original Formula" so I'm hoping that's not just sales hype One thing I noticed immediately is that the 80s formula's instruction was to drive at least 50 miles after adding this to fresh oil (to allow it to circulate through and adhere to the lifters etc) and it was a "once and done" additive... but the instruction on THIS modern "original formula" didn't say anything about driving ANY distance.. AND it's recommended to add once a year.. so I'm wondering if the manufacturer realized a "once and done" formula is bad for sales? which would logically mean it's not actually the original formula, wouldn't it? In any case, I *will* say that just as I was aiming for, it stopped the lifter's tapping noise that we old-car owners experience when warming up the car (that a simple oil change doesn't fix) which makes me happy, and I'm hoping that just like in the 80s that my engine will keep on running smoothly even when the oil's a little low ((in the 80s after driving it the recommended 50 miles, my bf checked the oil and it was bone dry!!! but the engine was running smoothly-- neither of us knew why the oil disappeared but I never had any problems for the next 6 years I owned the car)) So... as far as needing to add it again in a year.. only time will tell

SLICK-50 Has been around since the 50's !!! Yes the Nineteen 50's when it was "Formulated" !!
Even when I was in my "Twenties", 55 years ago, Slick-50 was around 1969 to about 1979, this product was WELL known in the Automotive Repair World !!! Slick 50 was developed by an "Automotive Wizard" I think in the1950's, Hence the Name !!! I think ?? The Engine oils "Waaaaaay" back then were just "Plain-Jane" oil(s) Not even High "Detergent Oils" at first, these were meant to keep the (INSIDE) of your engine "Clean" !!! Way back then for those "Monster" high-cubic inch displacement engines that the Car Makers pushed on the Markets, since they were in "Cahoots" with the Oil Companies !!! Also, Oil changes were Kind of "Neglected by the Average Owner (Not All), Maybe a "Religious" Once A Year Oil Change !!! No such things like "Jiify-Lube" or "Grease-Monkey", etc. etc. These days as engines came down in size (CID) starting with the influx of "Foreign Cars, European and Asian Vehicles, almost all of these Cars and Small Trucks had much smaller engines, "BUT" More of a "Demand" or "Burden" on them even though the "Engineering" !!! and the "Technology" and the Precise Manufacturing Tolerances became "Vastly", "Vastly" Improved !!! Many with 4 cylinders or even (three) cylinders !!! These also had smaller oil capacity engines (Usually) and sometimes less than 4 Quarts would be enough for an oil change (With Filter) !! Using ONE quart of Slick-50 was quite a Great, Great, thing especially if you did the Job yourself or just had the oil change "Place" add" it for you !! I Believe that this Product does make a difference and I use it in my Mercedes E-350 V-6 every oil change which is generally about 4,000 miles or so. Mercedes's recommendation is, 13,000 miles !!! NO, NO, NO !!!that's a little bit too many miles for me, maybe only once every two years, which is too long for me!!! I could "Bore" all of You and GO ON and ON, but that's enough for now !!! Thank You Amazon and Your Suppliers for Great Products, Great Prices and Great Shipping Always !!! (P. S.) My usage of Slick-50, Is to "Squeeeeeeze" a little more "Miles-Per-Gallon" out of My Trusty "BENZ" !!!!

Best additive for your oil
My car is a 2002 mercury with 75000 miles on it. I bought it with 25000 on it. I use this once every 50000 miles and change the oil every 3000 miles. Car runs smooth no knocking in below 0 weather.

Improved Gas mileage
So far, there is a noticeable difference in auto mileage after just 2 weeks. Mixed feelings about the product. My overall concern is any long term engine damage develop as a result of Teflon usage. There is nothing to directly claim that. Most mechanics agree, just change oil often and that is enough. The Hyundai engine has 70K miles and uses some oil by design is what I am told - add oil or else between regular changes. It seems reasonable Slick 50 usage would help especially and older engine or perhaps extend the life expectancy. After all, engine failure will happen anyway at some point. Maybe extend engine survival for a few years. That would outweigh any potential long term damage. Purchased at friend recommendation then read the Blogs about Teflon. There were some lawsuits over Teflon that the product uses but nothing directly targeting Slick 50 itself. Federal Trade Commission agency charged Slick 50 with "making false and unsubstantiated advertising claims". The advice I got was product is for engines that get used often. Engines that sit a while, oxidation can build up as a result of product causing damage.

It Works!
I have consistently used Slick 50 in my Wife's 2003 vehicle since her T-Stat got stuck closed @ 60k miles and we paid $4k to replace the engine. That was with manufacturer recommended maintenance performed consistently or sooner. The T-Stat failed today at 140k and the temp pegged at H. The engine made noises and stalled on her just 1 mile from home. I arrived and thought the engine was ruined like last time. After an hour of waiting for a tow truck in the turn lane to a busy intersection and just being told the tow truck's eta is 2.5 hours... I tried to start the engine..... It started, sounded normal, so I shut it off, closed the hood and trunk and waited for the next green light. Bottom line.... I drove it home. I waited several hours then started it up again to make sure I wasn't missimg something. It idled fine and sounded fine while I moved my other vehicles to get this one in the garage to figure out how it is still running. The only factor different is the engine has Slick 50 in it this time.
