How did this item get to be an “amazon choice” product when the connectors are too big for a netgear router? Which mfg do you suppose is out of spec?

I have those connectors and a net gear router with no issues. Im am guessing its the way you are installing the connector. If you crimp then trim excess it will not go in.

Will these work on flat cables?

It depends on the cable. If you can separate the individual wires to do the proper termination then it should work as long as the cable is between 22-26awg

What is the size (wxlxh) of this connector? does the opening fit cat6 cable stp (shielded twisted pair) solid-wire with od of 9mm-10mm?

This connector will take any standard CAT 6 cable. All cat 6 cables produced fall within a certain universal specification, or they could not be called CAT 6. The connector is physically 1cm wide 2cm long and .6 cm high the opening is about 8 cm wide. Again, standard Cat6 Cable. I use belden brand 23 awg cable with them

I have crimped a wire three times and still no data. What am I doing wrong? I double checked the order and it's correct.

Are you wiring it for 568A or 568B and are they the same at each end of the line?...Do you own a tester to see if you have any crossovers? Its hard to say what you are doing wrong without seeing your work.
