– Original Rum, 70cl

This is a very nice spiced rum, which produces a lovely Cuba Libre. It contains strong hints of vanilla with caramelised notes running throughout, creating a smooth and unique taste, however some may find this rum a little sweet. The rum comes in an attractive and distinctive bottle is some weight and can often be found discounted so offers reasonable value for money.

I bought this recently for Hubby's birthday gift, he is a big rum fan and this is one of his favourite rums. He describes it as a smooth drink, caramel taste but not overpowering. Goes down a dream and smells as good as it tastes. Hubby has tried mixing with lots of flavours, he will drink it neat easily but to make it last longer adds fizzy. Pairs very well with lemonade, ginger ale and very surprisingly irn bru! Irb bru is his favourite all time mixer with all his rums. Personally, I don't understand it as I'm a lemonade mixer myself. He says it adds another level, like another flavour and brings out the undertones of the rum. Each to their own. Quality is excellent, no after burn, really smooth. Can taste the different flavours easily and overall a really easy pleasant drink. So pleasant, he can easily drink over half the bottle in one sitting, very effective. The bottle is nice, plain and simple, even elegant but solidly built. You feel youre holding a decent weight of glass when holding this bottle. Good shape. I'd say this is mid range price wise, it ranges from £30 - £38 depending on where you purchase from of course. To me personally, I think it's expensive for a 70cl but Hubby will argue it's an excellent rum so worth the price. I was super happy that I managed to get this bottle reduced in the prime black Friday sale so snapped it up immediately. If you see it on offer and haven't tried it, I'd definitely go ahead and try it. Happy customer.

This has got to be my favourite rum. It’s perfect on its own and because it’s so delicious it would be a shame to use it with mixers. The flavours are banana and caramel, giving it a sweeter and more rounded character than many traditional rums. The sweetness may be a bit much if you prefer a drier or more classic spiced rum style, but this is my go-to rum and I’ve bought several of these.

I actually purchased this for Father’s Day for my husband and I had to get another great tasting rum and well worth the money 👍🏻

Why did you choose this product over others?: My first try of this was in our local, my partner was intrigued by the design of the bottle, it looks very “Johnny Depp Pirates of the Caribbean” even down to the cork stopper. The landlady very generously gave us a sample to try. Now I’m a bourbon drinker when it comes to spirits and my partner likes gins but this rum is amazing. Not overly hot or sickly sweet, just a nice caramely? taste. I would not drink this all night but my partner would. She had it with a little ice which when melted she said made it even better. So anyway, we bought 2 bottles when we found it at our local supermarket, not cheap but worth it. My partner has tried it mixed with Baileys ( it was Xmas time though) and said it made the Baileys less sickly. If nothing else, the bottles are amazing and quite heavy and would look nice with bottle lights in when finished.

Bought this on a recommendation from my rum chum. I have partaken in the odd bottle of spiced rum in the past but am generally a whiskey and gin person. But, this stuff is a revelation! Sipping rum?? Doffing rum more like! He did warn me not to keep the bottle too close and I now know why. Before you know it, you've polished half of it off in one go and are wondering why your legs have gone wobbly. It really is that smooth. I did try with ice but didn't like the watered down flavour. Just neat is neat. It is very nice indeed. My only gripe with this is the cork. Mine broke off in the bottle and it had only been opened a week! So, fun and games getting the broken bit out with some pliers and then digging out an old wine bottle stopper to plug the gap. Bit poor for a thirty quid bottle so just be extra careful with the cork.

Spiced rum ormai tra i più noti e amati. La bottiglia da pirata inganna, una volta assaggiato rivela il suo carattere dolce e goloso: note caramellose, vaniglia e banana, densità cremosa e tanta goduria. È talmente dolce che quasi non sembra un rum (molti puristi infatti non lo considerano tale), ma per chi vuole qualcosa di spensierato e divertente funziona alla perfezione. Un vero cult della categoria spiced, perfetto da bere liscio o anche miscelato (ottimo con cola se piace il genere). La bottiglia è bellissima e originale, anche da collezione o da riutilizzare, vale il prezzo. Piace anche a chi non beve rum o cose sofisticate grazie alla sua poca seriosità, va alla grande per feste o momenti di leggerezza con amici. Chiaramente, non aspettatevi un rum serio o maturo: siamo in un campo diverso, dolce e caramelloso. Se siete puristi, passate oltre; se invece cercate un’alternativa burrosa, divertente e da alternare a rum più strutturati, il Bumbu Original è assolutamente da provare.

La compra desde Canarias es una odisea. Terminé por rechazar el pedido y lo compré localmente (aunque me costó conseguirlo). El ron, muy bueno, diferente a lo habitual e ideal para tomar solo. Es bastante dulce.

Ich habe mir BUMBU The Original Craft Rum gekauft, nachdem ich viel Positives darüber gehört hatte. Nach mehreren Verkostungen – pur, auf Eis und im Cocktail, hier mein persönlicher Eindruck. Der Rum überzeugt sofort durch sein angenehm weiches und ausgewogenes Aroma. Noten von Vanille, Karamell und leichten Gewürzen stehen klar im Vordergrund, ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Durch die Reifung im Bourbon-Fass bekommt er eine schöne Tiefe und einen leicht süßlichen, runden Abgang. Pur oder auf Eis entfaltet BUMBU seinen vollen Charakter am besten. Er brennt kaum und ist sehr mild, was ihn auch für Genießer interessant macht, die sonst nicht regelmäßig Rum trinken. In Cocktails bringt er eine deutliche, aber harmonische Süße mit und hebt klassische Drinks spürbar auf. Die Qualität wirkt insgesamt sehr hochwertig. Geschmacklich merkt man, dass es sich nicht um einen einfachen Standardrum handelt, sondern um einen sorgfältig hergestellten Craft Rum. Auch die Flasche selbst ist ansprechend gestaltet und macht im Regal oder als Geschenk eine gute Figur. Für mich ist BUMBU ein Rum für gemütliche Abende, unabhängig von der Jahreszeit. Im Sommer eignet er sich hervorragend für Cocktails oder auf Eis, im Herbst und Winter genieße ich ihn gerne pur als Digestif. Mein Fazit Ein sehr runder, aromatischer karibischer Rum mit angenehmer Süße und hoher Trinkbarkeit. Wer einen milden, charaktervollen Rum sucht, sei es für Cocktails oder zum puren Genuss wird mit BUMBU definitiv zufrieden sein.

BUMBU The Original ist ein wirklich besonderer Craft Rum (Flavoured Spirit), der sofort durch sein intensives und ausgewogenes Aroma überzeugt. Die Noten von Vanille, Banane, Karamell und feinen Gewürzen sind wunderbar aufeinander abgestimmt – weich, süßlich, aber nicht künstlich. Besonders positiv überrascht hat mich, wie mild und rund er ist. Man kann ihn problemlos pur oder auf Eis trinken, aber auch in Cocktails macht er eine hervorragende Figur. Die Qualität ist deutlich spürbar und hebt sich klar von vielen Mainstream-Rums ab. Auch die Flasche und das Design sind ein echter Hingucker und machen BUMBU ideal als Geschenk. Preislich absolut gerechtfertigt für das, was man bekommt. Klare Kaufempfehlung für Rum-Liebhaber und alle, die etwas Besonderes suchen!
