A: The opening fits a 5/16" hex bit.  Although you might need to use a hex bit/Allen-key to loosen the crank cap, you should only tighten it finger tight.

**Q: I have a Giant defy advance 2 with Shimano 105 components will this fit my bike?**
A: It does not depend on the bike, it depends on the type of transmission. For your case (shimano 105) it works for you. I use it in shimano 105 too
