Review: Cheap fix for old audio reciever/4K TV - I am using this for my Xbox Series X. The Xbox plugs into the splitter, one cable goes to my 4K TV the other goes to my older audio receiver (tops out at 1080p). Everything works great. I have a 4K picture and I still have 5.1 uncompressed PCM surround sound going to my receiver. The TV recognizes the signal as 4K and the sound is the same as it was before the splitter was installed (in my opinion). I did not use the included cable with this splitter. I used 2 Adoreen 4K HDMI Cable 1.5 feet (one to connect the Xbox to splitter, the other connected to the receiver) and the cable that came with my Xbox to connect to the TV. All of these components are only HDMI 2.0, but my TV is 3 years old, so it does not have a HDMI 2.1 port so I couldn't use the fancy features anyway. In short, it split the signal to supply audio to my older receiver with no degradation that I can hear and the video to my 4K TV at 4K 60hz (audio does come out of the video HDMI as well). I have the switch set to 7.1 even though I only have a 5.1 setup. It does come with (and require) a micro USB plug/charger. The switcher got me 4k video and let me use my current receiver. Cheap and easy solution in my book.
Review: Works perfect with xbox one - I bought this for my complicated home theater setup. I have the first xbox one, I am using a sony x9000f soundbar which has an hdmi arc connection and an old bose av 321 ii with an optical connection. My samsung tv is a little older and does not have an hdmi arc input. At first when I connected this I kept the bose connected to the xbox one optical port and connected the sony soundbar to the hdmi audio/video splitter and still had signal interference and the the splitter got hot from it. So I connected the bose to the optical port on the splitter and it got rid of the interference and now the splitter stays nice and cool, it is very well made. It also rebalances the signals automatically but I still turn on hdmi audio first and then optical to prevent any audio delay. I also have a sonos playbar with digital optical and connect that to the tv optical port. I turn on the xbox first, then the hdmi soundbar, then the digital optical bose, then the tv so prevent any delay between the 3. The splitter also alows me to set the soundbar to 7.1 which it is capable of while still letting the bose be dts 5.1 which is all it can do. To whom it concerns, dolby digital sucks and ruins audio quality with its compression, use DTS or uncompressed surround instead. Before I had the xbox hdmi output into the sony hdmi input and another hdmi cable from the sony hdmi output into the tv hdmi input. I also had the bose connected to the xbox one digital optical port and was using both hdmi and optical audio simultaneously. The problem was I had signal interference between the two, I could manage the audio delay problem by turning on the hdmi audio first and then the optical because hdmi has a digital delay but optical is light speed and does not. Even so interfering signals is not good for speakers and subwoofers. They were getting overpowered because when I would adjust the treble or bass on one it would affect both. Like I said complicated. But it sounds amazing. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works with TrueHD and DTS-HD in 7.1 mode!!
*by K***S on October 10, 2021*

Final update 7/15/2022 So after watching some movies with True HD and DTS-HD pass through, there has been an issue that comes up almost every time. For some reason, the audio just cuts out and I have to reboot the receiver to stop it from happening. So far only one movie was constantly cutting out and I'm hoping it will be the last. Update 7/4/2022 So today I discovered that this device has the capability of pass through with True HD, and DTS-HD. I found that when I switched the mode to 7.1 it started working! I got the idea to do this while viewing another audio extractor that advertised their 7.1 mode supported Atmos, True HD, and DTS-HD and apparently this one does too they are just not advertising that it does. You just have to make sure your using the hdmi out audio port as optical(spdif) does not pass through the two codecs and will basically compress the audio (more details about this in the previous review.) First review: Before starting my review, I want to preface this by saying this is really only about the audio for this device the video works as it should at least for 4k60 HDR. I purchased this device hoping it would give me true master dts and dolby truehd sound audio through my pioneer vsx-523 as it does not have 4K60 HDR functionality. Seeing the hdmi port with audio only and the reviews that said the two aforementioned audio codecs worked, I impulsively bought this device...boy do I wish I read all of the details within the initial product details which I'll go into detail with right now...that was a lot of details...moving on! First things first: the hdmi audio port has been advertised to support 7.1 dolby atmos audio. This I can neither confirm or deny because my receiver does not support it. Next is the optical out(spdif) which has been advertised to support 5.1 dolby, dts, dolby +, dolby true hd, and dts master audio. Now, right off the bat, hate to break this to you, but spdif does not truly support dolby true hd, and dts master audio because it can't...this is just a fact. The long and short is spdif can only support 6 channels while hdmi has the ability to support 8 channels and those two codecs rely on this. So while it is true, dolby true hd and dts master audio does produce sound from spdif, you are not getting the benefits of the lossless audio that those two codecs provide...just thought that is something you should know. Now before, I found out all this information, there were times during my initial testing with the hdmi audio out that true hd was picking up on my receiver...but it didn't last long and the audio kept going out. The dts audio was not picked up at all. So that is pretty much it, I learned a lot from this ordeal and it looks like I'm just going to have to patiently wait until I can get a new receiver that can do it all....*sigh*
