1080 Infrared Thermometer

This thermometer works well, as easy to use. It does the job. Reads very quickly. Great for all kinds of uses, checking the heat of stove, pans, equipment, all kinds of other things. I checked the temperature of my aquarium, water and it seemed very accurate. For the price, I don’t think you can beat this.

This is one of the best $20 tools I didn't know I needed but it has come in very handy for a variety of purposes. I originally bought this to temp our stone in the pizza oven which it does great. Most recently I did the brakes and bearings on our 5th wheel tandem axle and needed to burnish the brakes. This calls for a target temp range of 350-400F on the brake drums when performing. I watched a lot of videos on this procedure, but few used an IR thermometer to measure the drum temps. In using this Etekcity thermometer, I was able to verify what brakes were functioning properly and one that was over-adjusted too tight and had a bearing retention bolt installed too tightly resulting in high bearing/drum friction and temperatures. There is no way I could have identified this without an IR thermometer. I have corrected the issue, but without having known I had a wheel bearing and brake assembly issue using the thermometer, it could have resulted in anything from a roadside maint issue to a failure at-speed and a resulting accident. This IR thermometer helped me avoid that. Maybe any IR thermometer could do that, but this one has been used a lot, has been reliable and was very affordable. Would buy again!

Perfect for cooking, I use it heat up my stainless steel pans. I shoot for 380 degrees and cook eggs so that they don't stick to the pan. Works great.

Very handy to have, using it more that I expected. It has fine adjustments and good instructions, but after using all those adjustments for various listed surfaces like steel, I realized that I was reading techno stuff written as if we were conducting important experiments in a lab that would change the world! So, I set it in the middle range and find after comparing the readings with other thermometers, that the differences are very minimal. Now, I just point and shoot.Things to note: While readings can be made from 10 feet away, the closer you get to the item being measured, the more accurate the reading becomes. Also, as they say in the directions, this unit does not work on skin, through glass and gets tricky in water.

This little device is a must have for anyone who likes to cook! THe price is right, and couldn't be easier to use. I got it because I was making a custard, and wanted to get the temp right before tempering my eggs, but will use this when frying wings, chips, etc so the oil is the right temp. Having the oil at the right temp will help your fried foods absorb less oil. The LCD screen is easy to read, you can turn on the backlight if needed if you have bad vision like mine. No regret here

A handy tool, easy to work. I used it to measure 20 F temp on old chest freezer with outdated refrigerant and had to get new one as it was rusted and leaking. Hope to use it to measure car engine temp before extracting oil. A good price for what I wanted, lite weight, readable.
