The Ring Makes All the Difference: The Hidden Consequences of Cohabitation and the Strong Benefits of Marriage Review: Excellent with one serious limitation. - Excellent read. Very pertinent and prescient at the same time. The only downside: it's not written in Spanish. I would get this book into the hands of hundreds if it was. Our parish community could really use this information. Please consider translating if you read this and have input on its publication. Review: Must read for all contemplating living together - This is an easy to read book. It is extremely well researched from the social sciences. It presents the evidence of what actually happens when two people live together without being married, compared to being married. As it turns out, one of the two is better. If you know someone living with another outside of marriage, or contemplating same, this would be an excellent gift for them. It will also be good for anyone who cares about others and wants to be a wise friend. I highly recommend this book.

100% of social scientists agree: living together before marriage is an almost sure fire way to
Though I have been married for 30 years, I read this book several times. Stanton lays out reasons why 100% of social scientists agree that living together before marriage is an almost sure fire way to ruin a potentially great relationship. For those like me who want to discourage women from living with their boyfriends, and for the people ages 15 - 75, who think this might be a good idea to live together, read this book and think again. Cannot say enough good about how well referenced Stanton makes his case for NOT living together. Living together: relationship is primarily on man's terms. Marriage: relationships is primarily on woman's terms. Read it for yourself why it is this way.

A good book, loaded with stats to back
This book is loaded with statistics to back what the author is claiming. As a conservative christian i was looking for biblical backing to stand behind why cohabitation was bad, however you don't get bombarded with that at all in this book. i was shocked that it was close to the end of the book before the author brought this into the book at all. however he had his reasons for doing that, as explained at the end of the book. I had to take breaks in reading this because at times it became so overwhelming to me with all the statistics and findings that i needed time to process it all, but i would recommend it for all couples, but especially those that are angry or have turned away from the church and don't want to hear it from a biblical perspective (however he does put that in at the end, which is also why i recommend it to them!)

Important things usually matter most later -- when it's too late
The insights gained here, if acted on, could save you major grief down the road in your life and the lives of those you "say" you love. Even if you don't agree with the book title seems like you can't loose at least reading two or three chapters. Think about it.

Excellent resource for anyone who does counselling or has young adult children of dating age
A fascinating and well-documented summary of why people should get married! First from a secular perspective, and towards the end, from a Christian perspective. Well-written and timely.

Just getting started reading this but so far it's great! It not only gives the biblical teaching but back it up with scientific proof which is great for agnostic or scientific thinkers!
