works great!
I had about a dozen 3.5 floppy discs that I had since the early 2000's and realized the photos on them weren't on my laptop in any files. Photos of my kids, vacations, past pets, etc. I found this disc reader and took a chance that the discs would still be readable after all these years.... They were! I was able to save these photos that I figured would be gone forever. I am so happy I took a chance on this device. It was easy to use. Just plug and play. The original files were saved to the discs on an windows 98 desk top and my windows 11 laptop had no trouble communicating with the old files. They were all saved as JPEGs so it should have been no big deal but with my luck I wasn't too hopeful. Pleasantly surprised and so glad it worked out so well and easy. Great price! Quick shipping!

Reads My Old 3 1/2" Floppy Disks
The product was delivered in 4 days. It is plug and play on my 3-year-old Samsung laptop. It works as expected, except for one thing. When I put a disk in the drive, the drive recognizes and displays the disk's contents on my PC. When I remove the disk and inserted another, the drive does not read the new disk. The work-around is to unplug the drive from the PC and reconnect it. THEN it reads the new disk. This could be a driver problem, but the Windows 11 software says that I have the latest available driver for the drive. Considering the low price of the drive, it is a minor problem. The floppy drive did what I needed it to do.

Mostly works
I bought this specifically to read an old floppy disk I had lying around. The first few times I used it, it didn't seem to work. I heard the USB connection sound in Windows but the drive never showed up in File Explorer. I read a review online which mentioned a similar problem and recommended inserting the floppy disk prior to connecting the drive to a USB port. Once I did that, I was able to see the floppy drive show up in File Explorer. The only issue was sometimes it seemed the drive disappeared. Additionally, it looks like the drive can get into a bad state if it's unplugged while reading a disk, where upon re-inserting the USB cable the drive status light stays on without anything obvious happening. My solution to get around these issues was to: 1. Have File Explorer open before connecting the drive 2. Insert the floppy disk before connecting the drive 3. Connect the drive and immediately open it when it shows up in File Explorer 4. If the drive status light stays on when plugging it in, unplug the drive for a minute or so (my hypothesis is that this allows any capacitors to discharge) The experience could be much better but honestly there aren't many options for floppy disk readers these days anyway.

Great solution to access old 3.5 floppies you have!
I'm an old IT guy, so while I was cleaning my computer room I came across a box of old 3.5 floppy disks. I wanted to make sure I wasn't throwing something away I needed so I ordered this USB floppy drive. It worked great and I found some old pictures. The only issue I ran into was this drive will not read 720K floppies.

My computers did not recognise this
Like most people who are buying these, I have a bunch of old 3.5 diskettes that I wanted to get info off and transfer to my computer. Unfortunately this one didn't work for me. I tried this on my current windows 10 laptop, which I read in the reviews works for people. The product info on Amazon's page states it works with Windows 10. My computer read that there was an floppy/a-drive but none of the disks would open and the only option I got was to reformat, which erases all the data. Although on this product page it says it works with all the current Windows systems, the booklet says Windows 98 and 2000. I tried this on my old Vista laptop and my husband's old Win 7 laptop. None of them could read any diskettes. My husband is in IT and he tried to get it to read, but it wouldn't work. Also the option for an updated driver only appeared on my Vista. None of the others but no driver came up. I read on some other a-drive readers reviews that there might be differences in format or such. However, I don't want to keep ordering to find out. I'm glad this worked for some people. But it just didn't work for me.

Works well
I am pleased with this. Been through lots of old floppy disk and was able to recover a lot of old pictures. Some of the files over time had been lost, but was able to save and transfer more than were lost. One little issue I had this morning, I plugged it back into my computer, it would not recognize the devise. I left it plugged in and restarted my computer and there it was.

Very Disappointed!
I purchased this product with high hopes that ended up in desperate disappointment! My digital pipe organ has a floppy disk drive connected with the sequencer. On my organ, I can play and record to a floppy disk my music. When I play it back, everything sounds just like I played it, including registration changes! When I remove the floppy disk from the organ floppy drive and play it on this floppy drive connected to my computer, I don't get any organ music at all! Instead, I have a very slow rendition of my music on what sounds like a phony piano and it even doesn't play all the notes. I wanted to post my organ music online but as it sounds on my computer like a tentative beginner trying to play a piano (and rather poorly, I might add!), there is no way I can use this device as intended! Perhaps Windows Media Player is too incompetent to handle pipe organ sounds and speed of playing, or my old laptop cannot do the same. Whatever, this device is useless for what I needed it to do and to say I am very disappointed would be a gross understatement!!!!! The only good thing about this device, it works with my Windows 10 laptop and connected easily enough. But for recording organ music in high fidelity, like a CD rom would do is definitely beyond its capabilities!!!
