It does rely solely on the magnet from the original charging block to hold the controller, which had me a bit nervous at first, but it seems like it's more than strong enough to hold as long as it is mounted to a solid wall. I wouldn't attach this to anything that could move. No complaints
Review: Works well. Needs to be more than 45° angle - I love these. I have multiple, keep in mind the angle is not quite what it should be. A small tap will knock your controller off and all Your joysticks and stuff will go everywhere. Lol I don't suggest mounting it over a trash can
