Even women with severly inverted nipples can breastfeed, or at least I did!! It may not be a permanent cosmetic solution.
I would highly recommend this product to assist with breastfeeding. But you need to consider some things. Here is my story: I have severly inverted nipples. I have tried this product in the past for cosmetic reason and it works.....temporarily. I used the product daily for many hours/day in the 20's for many months (I am now in my 30's). I would say that once you have stretched your nipple out after long term use (months if you have severely stubborn nipples like me) you don't have to wear it as long or often, but you will always need some occasional wears to get it to come out again. It is like fitness and exercise. You can work out and get very fit after many months. But, if you stop exercising, it will eventually stop working with time. MORE BACKGROUND STORY TO KNOW HOW MUCH I STRUGGLED. When I was 30, I had my first baby and had a really difficult time breastfeeding. Along with the inverted nipples, my daughter was separated from me in the Special Care Nursery for 1 week during the critical time for "skin to skin contact" to promote hormones for milk supply. The Special Care was great, but has a different focus, where they really push bottles if the baby is not latching well (due to my nipple problem). I was using nipple shields (which decrease you supply) and separated from my baby (which decreases supply). I was trying to get her to drink more sending pumped milk through a supplemental nursing system that shot milk into my nipple shield while she was nursing. It took about 5 people to get situated to nurse my baby! My supply only gave my baby 1/2 or less of her nutrition needs every day, so I needed formula, which further reduces supply. I was pumping 9 times/day after every bottle feeding which is horribly time consuming alone, let alone all the extra dish washing this requires. I lasted 6 weeks and my lactation consultant suggested I stop because my baby wasn't latching to me anymore and said she probably will not again at this age. I pumped exclusively for 2 more weeks, then stopped. I wanted to enjoy the last part of my leave. Sorry for the long story, but I wanted to give background for how much I struggled so those who also really struggled know that they even have a chance to be successful. I got pregnant again and I didn't want to do this again, but I wanted my second baby to have breast milk too. HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS.... With my second baby, my baby was delivered and was breastfeeding within a minute! This is thanks to this product and Medela SoftShells(tm) for Inverted Nipples. HERE IS WHAT I DID: I wore the Nipplete starting when I was 10 weeks pregnant. It is only recommended during the 1st and 2nd trimesters during the night only (see below for details to make it stick to you all night). During the day, I wore Medela SoftShells(tm) for Inverted Nipples under a thicker slightly padded bra (to make it look more soft/natural) to not get rid of my progress I made at night. I stopped this as soon as I was in the 3rd trimester and wore almost 24 hours/day the Medela SoftShells(tm) for Inverted Nipples, again to not backslide in my progress. Do not continue the Nipplette after the start of the 3rd trimester. It can stimulate labor after this. My lactation consultant agreed with the product directions. I would take it off every day and wash it, as I did with the Nipplette. Keep in mind this process is very high maintanence. But if you are VERY committed and will do anything to breastfeed, this can work. I also had the Lansinoh LatchAssist Nipple Everter to bring to the hospital to use right before feedings and this helped right away. But soon, due to the constant nursing, I didn't really need it anymore. Have a problem with keeping the Nipplette in place??? Buy a set of nipple shields, cut off the end of them (where the nipple lays), and stick the Nipplete cup through the missing place where you cut them. It creates a "cradle" for them, and the thin layer of plastic keeps them sitting on your breast. I would only wear them at night with a thick or padded bra because they were too conspicuous during the day and they didn't bother me much when I was sleeping, especially with a pregnancy pillow. Good luck! Breastfeeding if awesome if you can get it to work. My second baby is now 7 months. I exclusively breastfed him for 3 months until I returned to work. My supply went down when I did go back to work because baby always stimulates you more than pumping. At 4-5 months, he didn't like that my flow went down and got more used to the bottle. He only would feed at night, which I still enjoyed and just pumped the rest. I finally cut down to 1-2 pumpings/day so I still have time for other things and he at leasts get a little milk in too. I think this was SOOO worth the effort.

Easy Does It. Results Are A Beautiful Thing!
I would agree that this is an effective product. One thing I learned the hard way is that this will take time and patience. A lot of reviews complained that it's impossibly painful, but I wonder if that's due to overuse; people have to understand that although results won't happen overnight. At first, I was using it every night and pulling the plunger thing all the way. A lot of women might do this. It does hurt, but easy does it! I also realized that if I 1) didn't want to be sore every single day while I'm "treating" flat nipples, and 2) I didn't want the father of my child to watch me cringe whenever we're intimate, I needed a less painful schedule that still produced results. I began using it every other day, pulling the plunger just until I feel pressure. Having tender/sore breasts is part of pregnancy, hence the reason for wearing a bra at nighttime if desired. That's a good thing because the bra not only hides this ingenious contraption, but also helps hold it in place overnight. I'm seeing results indefinitely, and I've only been using it for just over a month!! With that said, the moral of the story is: *patience IS a virtue*, and essential when using this product. You don't need to overkill on using it in order to see results. It can be done without putting yourself through so much unnecessary excruciating pain. Also, yes, it will cause your nipples to be a little sore. You're exposing skin that hasn't seen the light of day, well, ever. When using this as directed, you slowly increase the pressure by pulling the plunger a little more. How often/much? That depends on you and your body type. I use mine about 3 days per week (every other day), and I'm up to feeling comfortable to pull the plunger to the halfway point. (Note: once your nipple fills the cup to the end and the pain, sensitivity and pressure is gone, you've effectively resolved the problem). I don't recommend using this in the third trimester, though and neither does my doctor. You already have to deal with Braxton-Hicks (for those of you who don't know: false contractions that your body does to 'practice' getting ready for labor). Wrapping it up: this product is amazing! It's worth every penny! I highly recommend this to any women needing to correct/improve flat or inverted nipples. I'm confident in being able to properly breastfeed my second baby without the pressure from hospital staff and devastation of not having the chance to provide for my daughter in that way. It also broke my heart that I was unable to bond with her on that level. La Lechè league is also a valuable resource that will assist you in becoming a super pro when it comes to any breastfeeding problem (including letdown, proper latching for smoother feedings, etc). Between using this product (endorsed by LA Lechè league), and their support, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to have a strong breastfeeding routine with my baby when he/she is born. One more thing: I read a few reviews on the plastic being too hard as well as having problems keeping them in place. First of all, there are NO sharp edges, but it may feel that way if you're pulling the plunger too hard, which will results in pain. As for them not staying in place, this is resolved a very simple way (and listed in the directions): use Lanolin, Aquaphor (that's what I use), Vaseline or other product with care. It does keep tender skin soft and soothes during "treatment", but if you use too much, suction is impossible. It doesn't matter what form moisturizer used to help keep these in place, a little goes a very long way!

Good, but could definetly be better!
I have been using this product for a little over 2 weeks now simply for cosmetic reasons and I will say first that I am seeing results, but I am quite disappointed in how horribly they stay on; I wear them while at work and they fall off probably at least 15-20 times during my 6-8 hour shift, I even use Lanolin cream as suggested to help them stay on. If you have a job that requires you to walk/stand I would not recommend wearing them at work unless you have those suckers super glued on since they seem to fall off everytime I walk to the bathroom and/or am standing up, I'm glad I haven't lost one yet or embarassed myself by them falling off in front of another employee. The suction doesn't seem to stay as well it should, being the main problem. I also throughout each night am taking them off and reapplying them just because they seem to lose suction. I have no idea how ANYONE would be able to use this product while sleeping without them falling off throughout the night. With all that said, I have SLOWLY been seeing results which is making it worth the constant effort to keep them on. I will keep trying since they seem to be doing something, I just wish they would stay on without having to worry about them every 5 minutes!! ***Modified to 3 stars because they do not work as good as said/hoped for, maybe temporarily, but do not buy if you're looking for long term results. I've stopped using them, because they didn't do what they were supposed to, they only kind of did it, if that. Really sucks, because I had hoped this would be my savior!

and significant others I'd pretty much accepted the way they looked
I've had inverted nipples my whole life. I'm in my mid-twenties, so at this point between comments and comparisons from sisters, gym locker rooms, and significant others I'd pretty much accepted the way they looked. I'd embraced the fact that I was going to look "not normal" unless I got surgery--which I can't afford and was iffy about to begin with since there's a risk of losing sensitivity. I had read up on nipple eversion products used for breast feeding and felt weird even thinking about ordering this product since I'm young, don't have kids, and don't know anyone my age I'd feel comfortable asking if they'd had this problem too. But even though I told myself it wasn't a big deal and that I love my body etc, etc...I was still really curious whether this might be a way to feel more confident, not just "be ok" with it. I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I'm very pleased. Based on research I'd say I have one Level 1 and one Level 2 inverted nipple. Both have responded very well to one to two 2-6 hour treatments (either sleeping or when at home) per day. I have a 9-5 job and sometimes am not at home so it's been inconsistent but for the most part, daily. Pros: What usually looked just flat now fills out readily to the touch or with change in temperature. Initially after treatment, both nipples stay perky. No loss of sensitivity. Very simple to use. Cons: If you don't wear padded bras, wearing these during the day is probably a no go. They're very conspicuous and aren't very forgiving if your bra is snug to your chest since they're hard plastic. If you sleep on your stomach or have a tendency to cross your arms right over that area, they can pop off. I'd recommend using Aquaphor or something similar to help with suction and possibly a bit of dryness around new skin exposure. Also be aware that sensitivity increases right after treating so if you have a significant other give them fair warning. I've had minimal discomfort with the application of suction, but sometimes wearing them for the extended time frame causes mild itching or dull ache around the areola. Conclusion: Worth the investment. May not be for everyone, but so far they're working and I'm much happier with how I feel about my body.

Ignore any bad review
So, these things work. After washing them, attach the syringe, rub a little water along the rim, place on your nipple, hold in place with one hand and pull the plunger to the desired suction. They will stay on. I just put a bra on over the niplettes, and they stay in place for hours. I have tried sleeping in them though, and even with a bra, I manage to dislodge them. I bought these to draw out my almost flat nipples, and I use them daily. I’ve only had them a couple of weeks, and I can already tell a difference. I have rather wide nipples but they fit inside the cup just fine. Initially, when I drew the plunger up, my nipple would stretch to fill about half of the niplette. There was absolutely no pain so I wore them for several hours beginning on the first day. There was no pain when I removed them, and no blisters or white spots. The only difference was that I had firm, perky nipples. They were more sensitive which was fine with me. On subsequent days, I continued to wear them for several hours, usually as soon as I got home until bedtime. (I would love to wear them to work, but even with a padded bra, they create a very noticeable bump, and I don’t think my employer would appreciate my efforts to acquire full time perky nipples. Maybe I’ll try boob tape or something.) Anyway, after about a week, I decided I could probably draw the plunger out further, so I did. This really elongates the nipples, which I love. After a lifetime of flat nipples, seeing them pop out is so exciting. I can now (day 16) draw the plunger out to the point that my nipple almost touches the end of the cup. I’m sad about this because I know I could stretch them further if there were more room. It’s not that I want them to be that long permanently, but I feel like the further they stretch, the more likely I am to end up with permanently protruding nipples. I also got a pair of Nip Xtenders, but I used those and while they do elongate the nipples, they also widen them, whereas the Niplettes just elongate mine. I like the elongation as that’s what I’m seeking. Now, when I wake up in the morning and get ready to shower, one of my nipples stands out about 3 millimeters and the other about 2 millimeters. Initially, one nipple stuck out about a millimeter and the other was flat. I will continue wearing these for the recommended three months and beyond if I can still tell a difference. I would love to have nipples that always protrude around a centimeter. If something happens to these, I will definitely purchase again.

DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU ARE ALREADY BREASTFEEDING
OHMYGOSHHH. SO DISAPPOINTED. don't buy it. it's totally not worth it. I was so excited for it because I was having trouble getting my daughter to latch on.. eventually the baby will make the nipple for you, so to speak. I had a bit of a flat nipple problem. unless you have inverted nipples, I don't reccomend it. I truly wish I hadn't wasted my money & got the cheap Lansinoh one at least. it leaks, it draws your milk out, YOU DEFINITELY CAN see it through clothes, not discreet at all, & it doesn't even stay on well/ it's sooo difficult to use. maybe it would be better to use during or before pregnancy, I don't know. all I do know is, that I wasted my money because it did nothing for me.

Great, relatively fast results for flat nipples.
I bought this because I was tired of being self conscious of my flat nipples. They were totally flat. I am 21 and haven't ever been pregnant. Let me just say...this product works and has given me amazing confidence! It is a little awkward to use at first and you'll probably feel sort of silly, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very easy to use and it has become extremely easy for me to sleep in to get my 8 hours. The only few things I would say about this product are that putting some water on the nipple makes the cup stay suctioned on for much longer (vaseline didn't work for me), that I experienced some yellowy, watery discharge that would form in the cups during the night, and that they can be painful. For the first two weeks I didn't experience any pain during use but they would be sensitive after I took them off. Going on the third week, I experienced some flaking on the nipples and some tenderness/sharp pains after I put them on at night, but by morning the nipples would be soft inside the cup and the pain subsided. I couldn't wear these with a push up bra during the day because it was way too awkward but I adapted by wearing a sports bra at night with them in. I've worn them for about a month now for mostly 8 hours every night and my nipples are protruded a little all the time (they definitely look different from before use), a lot when touched and just a tad when i'm really warm (like in the shower). I am still looking forward to greater results over the next few months but this product really works and I'd recommend it to anyone with flat nipples.

READ THIS AND THEN BUY IT
So I was going to wait after a few days of using this to write a review so that I could try to make this as informative and helpful as possible. I hesitated to buy this because of some of the reviews but seriously half of the complaints or bad reviews are coming from people who aren't using common sense. First I'd like to say this device is not meant to hurt you AT ALL. It's literally a little cup that goes over your nipple and uses one of those medicine like syringes to suck the nipple out to see the beautiful light of day. People have to understand that skin is sensitive and change isn't going to happen overnight. I never thought I'd be able to see myself with "real nipples." The feeling you get after the first use and seeing those little suckers pop out is amazing even more so if you've been embarrassed or self conscious about them for a while already. So the way it works is You connect the syringe to the "tail" of the thimble and it sucks the air out, pulling the nipple out with it. You want to stop until you feel a slight pressure, and that's when you know that's your limit. It took a little bit to get the hang of it but once you've got it down it's great. here are my following tips.1) with one hand hold the "thimble" over your breast and press it down slightly and with the other pull the syringe. If you don't do it this way or a similar way then I can see why people would say it doesn't "suction." 2) if you have inverted nipples the way I did you're definitely going to want to invest in the Lanolin cream. This will be heaven in a little bottle. Your nipple will be sensitive after 7+ hours of wear, it will be sensitive against clothes, under the shower, even to the touch of your fingers but that little cream will soothe it and protect you. 3) I read about how some women were getting crust forming over the nipple. Personally I have not had that issue because as soon as I take them off I wipe the inside of the little thimble and I use a small piece of tissue to lightly wipe over and around the nipple. 4) my biggest challenge was figuring out how to wear it in public so I could take the most advantage since I found that it would be impossible to sleep with them since I toss and turn all night. What worked for me was using bras that fit more on the looser side. Im a size 34B so I had a few bras laying around that I didn't fill up all the way so they did the trick on hiding the bulge. You don't want your bra to be too right because then it will press the little thimbles down hard on you through out the day and that's where the discomfort will follow. I use these all day I work and I even forget I have them on. Also if you face the little "tails" outwards it will help in keeping them more in place and helping you forget that they're ever there. 5) Carry the little syringe with you. I only carry one as I use it for both when I'm out and about. No need to risk losing both at the same time. It's a suction device people it does not come with straps or tape or anything so of course excessive movement will knock them off. This product is amazing and I wish I had known about it sooner. As of right now my nipples will stay completely out for about an hour and then flatten down a little bit but don't invert at all anymore. They also respond to touch and coldness right away which is an awesome feeling coming from someone who has gone their whole life without seeing any of that. Good luck to all you ladies!!
