This is a very good Black Bean sauce.

Use this for Jjajang myeon aka black bean noodles. It works perfectly. Makes for a cheaper meal than heading out to a Chinese restaurant. It’s a pretty large container so it looks like it’s lasting a good while. My one qualm is the price as it is on the pricier side compared to buying it at a Korean market. Since I don’t have access to one around me, this is the best I’m going to get for now.

This was just a scam and fraud, pure and simple. Amazon’s circular website just keeps telling me that it’s not eligible for return. I can’t reach anyone. I keep trying to input that it was defective, and there’s no channel or way to communicate that and get relief. AT LEAST THEY SHOULD SEND ME ONE THAT’S NOT DEFECTIVE. I am a LONG way from just letting this go. The product arrived leaking all over the place. I am very, very pissed off. The lid, which is sealed, was apparently put on defectively at the factory. It leaked all over and through the plastic seal wrapped around the lid. The product is obviously spoiled, because it wasn’t sealed. To top it off, someone packaged it with another of my orders, and it leaked on that, too. Just great. And now, I can’t reach anyone to complain about how my spoiled, rotten product is “ineligible” for return. Wanna bet?!

I adore this product! At first I was hesitant because I knew you couldn't just add this paste to the noodles and be done. You actually have to pretty much assemble the required ingredients in order to achieve that yummy sauce. I am so thankful to a few of the reviewers here who shared their recipe. I tweaked and made it my own. Cooked 1 tbs of this paste with oil. Then added 3 tbs of brown sugar. 2 cups of chicken stock (I didn't have broth) and a few tsp of cornstarch to thicken it. I actually had a bunch of the already made korean ramen packets but it was the spicy SPICY version. The sauce that came with it tasted nothing like the black-bean sauce I had come to love. It was just way too hot for me. So I made this sauce and added it to the ramen noodles instead along with cubed potatoes and it was the yummiest meal! Much better than the other premade packets you can buy. Don't be afraid of this paste. If I can make it, you def can!

I love making home made jjang, and this sauce last me so many recipes. I am still using it so the value for the use is great.

I don't know if they changed the ingredients. We used to get the exact brand and exact flavor locally, until the stores stopped stocking these. DEFINITELY, not the same taste of what we were used to eating.
