Another reviewer, Thomas Dorr, has unfairly ruined sales potential by claiming that the nozzles need modification (cut off shorter before they will work properly). That reviewer did not carefully read the instructions, and is not inverting the mushroom head before installation, so of course he is having the problem he complains about. He needs to re-read step 3 of the instructions, and I quote, "Insert the stem of the mushroom shaped plug into the gun chamber and then using the tip of the nozzle, push the head of the plug into the chamber until it disappears." This inverts the mushroom head, otherwise you will not get a proper install, THIS IS CRITICAL !! Another reviewer, Roy Sommers, rates 1 star and states that it takes undue effort to force the plug through the gun; this is what happens if you dont have the nozzle screwed all the way down to where it seats, and as the gun comes out of the box there is a most likely chance that you will need to clear the threads of manufacturing debris before it will screw on all the way. I had this thread debris problem on 2 out of 3 kits that I have bought (giving some as gifts). The bigger nozzles all screwed on easily, so try the bigger nozzle first to see the point at which it seats, and then be sure that the smaller nozzle screws on that far also. If you are having to fight to get the plug to pass through the gun then you know you don't have the nozzle screwed down far enough, and you may need to clear slag from the threads with a wire brush (more on this below). This little bother to possibly clear threads and properly follow instructions is a small inconvenience compared to money and time saved when you get to do your own tire repairs. I used to do tire repairs professionally back before steel belts came into existence, and we used rubber plugs in bias ply tires and they were a permanent repair, but with the advent of steel belts the old plugs didn't work and a variety of plug materials are out there now, I have tried many, but none I would consider a permanent repair. Now I live in the oil boom of western North Dakota, and the only tire shop in Watford City, ND charges $40 to fix a tire, and you will cool your heels with wait time (I can buy a new tire at WalMart in Williston 55 miles away for $110, which is I think a smarter choice, unless I could find a do-it-yourself tire repair solution). The thing about these plugs is that they are rubber, and come with vulcanizing glue (which melds/bonds the genuine rubber plug to the rubber in the tire), All of my previous pro experience in tire repair gave me the gut feeling that this plug is a great invention that could really work permanently. I did my first repair of a car tire a month ago; I pulled a size #12 screw out of the tire and used the smaller size of plug. I let the glue set for 30 minutes on a 50 degree day,and then drove it down our 3/4 mile gravel road and into town. After a month, I have about 60 miles total on the rough gravel road, as well as about 300 highway miles, and with temperatures to 12 below zero, and the repair is holding just fine. Any other brand of plugs that I could find were not made of rubber, and so, believe me, they are temporary repairs despite sellers claims to the contrary. It comes with nozzles and plugs of 2 sizes, the smaller one did not want to thread on all the way, but I found that using a wire brush to clean manufacturing slag out of the threads got it to working properly. I then ordered 2 more of these kits to give as gifts, and found that one of the two had the same problem with the smaller of the 2 nozzles not wanting to thread on all the way, and again I wire brushed slag out of the threads and with a few tries it goes on easily and properly. Its a little manufacturing glitch that the factory should address, but its not enough of a problem to stop me from highly recommending this great kit. I recommend adding a set of needle-nose vise grips to your kit, to pull out screws and nails that are usually the cause of flats, and also a razor knife to cut the plug off flush with the tire after application (but not in Wisconsin, a knife even with a blade under 4 inches is a felony concealed weapon in a vehicle, or so my lawyer advises). I not only highly recommend this kit, but I rave on it. Seriously, it's that good.

Worst repair kit
I remember as a young man using this style of tire repair, while working at a local gas station. I purchased this kit with the expectation of it being as easy to use & as capable of making a good quality repair, as I did when younger. This product is absolutely the worst. The plugs do not pass through the gun completely, making it impossible to seal a tire. it requires Herculean strength to squeeze the trigger. The larger cylinder tread does not match the gun & can not be used. It ended up making the hole larger, requiring me to go back to using two standard cord plugs, which did the job. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this piece of junk.

The best way to patch a tire on the go or in your driveway
I have not used this kit yet, but I have used one exactly like it sold back in the 80's. This method of puncture repair is far superior to the tar strips. The only other patching method that beats this is taking the tire off the rim and placing a patch on the inside. This is only necessary if you have a very large hole. Pro tip. Put some glue in the gun, then Insert the plug in the gun, add glue to the top of the plug, then add glue to the nozzle and screw the nozzle on the gun. This will make the plug go into the puncture easier and also insure that the plug is well coated with glue.

Good professional grade plug kit.
Works much better than the strip type of plug kits. Also has 2 different sized vulcanizing plugs. Only tricky part is removing the plug from the gun, if you arent careful, you can pull the plug right back out :)

Great kit
I love this plug kit you got to know how to use it i put vulcanized glue on mushroom head then use tip to push into gun the screw on proper tip to plug size. I put plastic tip on the push gun all the way in and pump gun till rod is all the way in I then release rod to retract then pull tip out of tire grab plug and pull to seat mushroom works everytime and done in minutes

This item is a piece of junk
This item is a piece of junk and does not work as advertised. I work for a used tire shop and are familiar with tools related to tires. I follow the instructions step-by-step exactly how they explain them and the item does not work the plugs get stuck in the nozzle every time. No matter how perfectly you try to follow the instructions the item does not work. I've read the other reviews and try to take the tips of others to try to get this item to work and it still doesn't. Though it does seem as if you were to cut down or modify the nozzles that it might possibly work but that doesn't matter the product should work as it comes out of the box it's a piece of junk. I am still trying to return this item to the seller and they have been unwilling to work with me and have not sent me a prepaid return label. I have emailed them they said they would send me a prepaid return label and I called them they said they would send me a prepaid return label by the end of the day and simply have not. Buyer beware also once the plugs get stuck in the nozzle they are extremely extremely hard to remove.

Best system without dismounting the tire.
I haven't used this one yet, but I am giving it 5 stars based on the outstanding service that my old unit gave for many years. It was better to buy the complete kit with carrying case than just new plugs. This system of inserting a mushroom shaped plug is the best repair other than dismounting the tire and installing a patch on the inside.

Good product
It works very well. You need to read instructions and follow. If you have any trouble you are doing wrong. It works great if you know how to use it .
