Lightweight, Clear Display, Simple & Intuitive to Use, Excellent Control Design
Slick product! Small, absolutely simple to use, totally intuitive with manual (not digital) control knobs on the back. The clear display lights up when you touch the clock and stays lit long enough for you to read the time. A tiny nit: a little bag or case would have been a nice addition, but for this nice product, I don't mind providing my own. This little clock has already been coast to coast and I'm very pleased with it!

You can't go wrong with Braun.
The last travel Braun alarm clock I bought was 42 years ago. I paid $10 for it. It was about 2 hours worth of work back then, but rent for nice digs was only about 8 hours worth of work. It was comparable in price to everything else back then, but slightly higher quality only more modern. It is contemporary classic, but not as sleek as this one. It has traveled the world and still works. Considering all, even though this new one is more than 3 times the price as it was in '82, it hasn't risen in price as much as everything else especially rent as that same flat going for $80/month back then will now cost about $3K. However, having only tripled in price since then, the quality far exceeds others in it's class. In the olden days, clocks used to last 50 years like the Braun I got in 1982 likely will. By 1990, we were lucky if a $10 clock would last 10 years unless it was a Braun. By 2000, maybe 5 years. Nowadays, one pays generally $15 to $25 for a clock which will not last a year. I bought this new little Braun more than a year ago, and it works perfectly. It's classic so timeless and will likely go with any decor in the future should I live that long, like my first one does. By now, I'm betting both this one and the old one will outlive me and still look and work great even after my ticker has stopped. Unlike my first Braun, this one has Snooze which hadn't been invented yet in 1982. So, I really like that about it. I like the way it fits in the palm of my hand and the way the alarm is not disturbing, but a gentle awakening. I find it unusual while I commonly sleep through other more agitating alarms sounding like a firetruck, I always wake up to the gentle ring of the Braun. Some complain about how they can't see the screen on this tiny baby at night, but as it's so small, I find no issue in picking it up to see the time. The only hazard is, if I tuck it under the covers, then I won't hear it. Other than that, I really like this clock as much as the first one I bought. The other thing I like is back in the day, the lady who sold me the first said, "You cannot go wrong with Braun," and it still feels true. Imagine that, a corporation which did not sacrifice quality for profit? That it's life span will likely be as long as the first makes me feel good about the purchase as there is little environmental impact. It feels like a good use of earth's resources. The only thing I would change is if I could go back in time, I would bring back good manners, excellent customer service and a sense of values to the world as we once knew it. The good news is Braun still offers those things. While I've never had a reason to call Braun, it is nice to call them to tell them what a wonderful product they have and thank them for still making quality affordable not only to the consumer, but to the earth.

The BEST 'travel' alarm clock DISAPPOINTMENT!!
EDIT: 18 MONTHS AFTER WRITING MY BELOW FIRST RAVING REVIEW, THIS EXPENSIVE TINY CLOCK HAS GONE ROGUE. The display remains lit up, sucking the batteries dry. Impossible to set the time - All buttons are unresponsive. I never carried the clock in bags for travel, never fiddled with the buttons, never used the alarm, it has sat on the edge of my reading station for 18 months, and has stopped working overnight. FIRST REVIEW: First as a gift to my companion who wanted a tiny clock with large display, yet not always brightly lit, with slick and simple design, uncomplicated in features, and of great quality build. I was on a hunt for two months, comparing, testing, purchasing and returning...until this little guy caught my attention and it is a HIT! She loved it, me too, and I ordered one for myself. Pros: All the above mentioned qualities, PLUS Numerals on the screen slightly visible when on standby, and at the touch - not the press - but an actual skin contact on the top of the clock, the numerals lighten up in perfect soft gray tone. It is light and sturdy without having any kind of extra stand to handle. It is the largest display for the smallest overall size I could find; Best DFR (Design/Functionality Ratio) Setup is a child-play. Con: None really! It doesn't come with a 'travel' soft sheath which would protect it when thrown into a travel bundle. This isn't a CON of the clock itself but a failure from the marketing standpoint. Anyway, we don't use ours for traveling; smartphones do the job. Brawn is known for their quality and design, and this digital clock is a pearl!

It's beautiful and completely silent.
Even with other Braun clocks advertised as silent, they're really not. So I opted for digital, but it's hard to find a digital clock that isn't ugly. This one is it. For one thing, it actually IS small, unlike other clocks advertised as mini but aren't. And it's unobtrusive and even beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was that when you tap the top for the backlight, the backlight is blue. But since it only stays lit for 10 seconds, it doesn't bother me. I just got it so I can't attest to its durability, but so far it works perfectly and is easy to use. A warning, though: unless you tap the top for the backlight, it's hard to see the time. I don't think this would work for me in another place during the day; but for my nightstand, it's absolutely perfect. I don't need to see the time except when I tap the top for the 10 second light. Speaking of that tap, there's nothing easier. The lightest tap on the top is all it takes.

Almost perfect
Yes, the contrast of this tiny clock is pretty bad, and you do need direct light to be able to read it during the day. BUT for me the most important features of a battery powered travel alarm are 1) a good light for night viewing (and this one is great, with an easy to use touch feature), 2) a clear indicator that the alarm IS set (and this one has a very easy to see notification bell on the screen), 3) the alarm time shown on the screen (which this one does!), and finally 4) the alarm goes off when you set it, not 15 min before or after (and the digital function on this clock takes care of that). It would be nice if you could read it more easily during the day, but the rest of the features make up for it. And besides, while traveling I really only try to read it at night using the built in light.

I’m in love with this alarm clock
This is replacing my alarm clock of 24 years that just wouldn’t die, even after countless drops by toddlers and puppy teeth. The screen finally went so dim, it was nearly invisible. I’m sad, because it was instrument of good old quality. I did a lot of research and decided to go with this Braun model for a replacement. It won’t have to hold up to all the abuse my old one had to endure, and it probably wouldn’t. I love the dark screen! I wake easily and often. A bright display in my face all night would prevent me from going back to sleep. The light comes on with a slight touch on the top/snooze space, and goes off after a few seconds, thus saving battery. It’s simple to set up, without having to read a manual. No useless bells and whistles. Time and alarm is all there is. No need for weather station or date in the middle of the night. It’s tiny! Did I say it’s tiny? It is very tiny, so be aware of the measurements in centimeters. I ❤️ , ❤️ , ❤️ the crescendo beep. I actually remember dreams when waking up the past few days, instead of getting yanked out of slumber with a torturing sound ⏰.

Beautiful and solidly built, but with major design defects
This travel alarm is beautifully designed and very well made, characteristics not found in other travel alarms. I really wanted to give it a top rating, but it has two serious design defects. First, the alarm is not loud enough to wake a sound sleeper, particularly if the clock is not placed near ear level. In addition, it has a very sensitive button on the top which turns on the backlight for 5 seconds. When the clock is packed, nearby items can press on the button frequently, presumably running down the battery.

Solid and Simple
When a phone by your bedside just won't do, this stylish alarm clock is just right. Most "travel clocks" have umpteen fragile bits of plastic to crack off. This clock is solid, simple to set, easy to read, but not obnoxiously lit during the night. Sound is fine and battery life has been fine so far. No complaints. We keep it in a jewelry pouch when packed for travel to prevent scratching or activating.

Lätt att ställa in tid och larm. Ljud som stegrar sig vid alarm. Jag är nöjd.
