great alternative to solar controller
I purchased 2 of these so that I could step my voltage down to 12 volts without the expense or hassle of another controller. What I found is even though it is rated for 24 volts down to 12 volts they worked very good at stepping the voltage down from a single solar panel that was putting out around 19 volts . If you are wanting to step that voltage down to 12 from a single panel I recommend giving these a try. BTW there are various voltages that can be used and I do believe they have stepup transformers as well.

Working great for two seasons now
This step-down converter has been working perfectly in my fishing boat to give all the 12-volt accessories the exact voltage needed from my 24-volt battery system. It outputs 12 volts on the nose when tested with a multimeter. Simple and effective. I should order one or two more just to have on hand. Great product.

It does work well; the only problem is that the voltage drops to the low 11.*V. From a lithium 27v.

Converter
I have 2 of these,1 working and 1 for back up,so far i dont need the backup,i have them on my 24v solar setup to drop to 12v for a couple shed lights and to run a 12v rv type water pump,the one now has been in going on 5 years

If you like setting stuff on fire this ones for you
Hooked up this resistor to knock my 24 v system to 12 v so i could install some gages . hooked up as per the diagram on back of unit. Hit the key and poof it cought fire. Whatever chinese political prisoner that built this thing must be malnourished and afraid of getting shot by the camp guards or something. This product is epic fail.

Drops the voltage, works great
Used this to install a 12V GPS tracking device on a 24V piece of equipment, worked great. It does have a low voltage cutoff as well, meaning if the voltage on the 24V gets too low, it will no longer provide power to the 12V side which in my case is very helpful, I then know when to charge my piece of equipment. :)

Super stable voltage output
This is being used for a power supply feeding my ham radio gear. It is super stable and running gear like ham radio it doesn't even get remotely warm. Buying a couple more to build two more power supplies with.

Works, but...
I wanted to use this for a 24 volt solar panel to run a 12 volt only charge controller, to charge 12 volt battery. This unit does as advertised(technically). This buck converter will not work properly for charging batteries, as 12 volts output is too low to fully charge a battery(usually 13.5 volts). So 14.5 volts should be the minimum output(maybe 13.8V) for a solar charging system. Even used as a 12 volt power supply, this converter, IMO, needs to be at 13.5 volts output to make up for some losses, voltage drops from the loads; and automotive devices are designed for 13.5V anyway. This converter only puts out 12 volts, which drops some once loaded. If it had put out 13.8 to 14.5 volts it would be good for a charging system. My cheap charge controller asks for 13V. This buck/boost converter works, just not for a solar charging system. You need at least a volt higher than the voltage the battery reaches, to fully charge. Claiming this is good for a solar system is false advertising. It can work as a direct power supply so long as the Sun light is enough, but 12 volts is not enough for charging. Update: I just realized others ran into this same issue, and they pointed out that there are units here on Amazon that are 13.8 volts. That would have worked. There are 14.5 volt versions sold elsewhere. 13.8 to 14.5 volt is suitable to use a 24 volt panel to charge a 12 volt battery. That is what I thought I was getting, but they really meant 12 volt output on this device; not suitable for charging :-) I am out the cost of two buck/boost converters. I ordered a MPPT charge controller which is likely better than using a 13.8 volt output buck.booster, although more expensive. This also has the options for charging different types of batteries and performing different charging stages. I should have gone this route in the first place, but I already had a cheap charge controller. I just needed the 24 volt solar panel to charge a 12 volt storage battery. Had I known there are buck boosters with 13.8 and 14.5 volt outputs, my friend would have her charging system running months ago, and I would still have the $100+ I spent on devices suitable for solar power supply, but not for charging. I hope the MPPT charge controller works.

Bought this as mine was creating a high voltage reading. Installed this and now I have a low voltage reading and the battery is not charging.

Works with stable power inputs
This item works, but make sure you have a stable input source in terms of voltage. The more stable the voltage, the more the device works.
