Works great! No dust, and it fits my DEW402
Yes it’s a little pricey, but it also works. Spend the money on quality and skip the dust clouds inferior dust shrouds allow to escape. This dust shroud installs quick and easy, yes even on my DWE402 (which others have seemed to struggle with). Only complaint I have is that I wish the shroud had a universal adapter included for various vacuum hose sizes, but duct tape solves that in a pinch. Tremendous suction with almost no noticeable dust. The sliding guard allows you to get within 3/4” from any straight wall your grinding next to (note: that creates an opening, there will be some dust kicked out, just keep as tight to the wall as you can). Been grinding thinset daily for 2+ weeks, this is rock solid and still working like new.

Very useful for dust control
This baby works really well in keeping dust down. It can be tricky to install on your grinder but once you figure it out, it works great!

Hassle to install, then works great on DWE402
This is the correct model for a DWE402 angle grinder. Once installed properly, it provides top-notch dust collection. (My only frame of reference is an equivalent Makita shroud for my Makita grinder, which was easy to install but less effective.) I encountered two issues that make installation difficult. The first is that the instruction manual does a poor job of showing exactly how the shroud must be rotated, relative to the grinder, during the first steps of installation. (I later realized that the valid rotation(s) are obvious if you carefully study the outcroppings on the shroud and the recesses on the grinder. But they're quite small and only clear in bright light.) The second issue is that, once the shroud is rotated into the proper position, pushing it into place (along the same axis as the shaft) requires enough force that you second-guess if the rotation is correct. The shroud is definitely a good accessory when in place, but I suggest finding a workflow that lets you minimize the number of times you have to install it.

OMG no dust at all !!
Worked fantastic for me. Used it on a dwe402. Looks like it will work with any DeWalt grinder that has the nose portion that a guard would go around that has the notches around it and the groove ring towards the end. The guard sits in this groove, I had to clock It to line up the notches, it slides on then pops into the groove and clock it again to lock it and tighten the screw clamp down. Just like the guard the grinder came with. I used the commonly bought DeWalt concrete grinder disc with this, installed on the grinder with the spacer still in on the back . At first use you're going to think that the guard is too tall. It isn't. Push down and you will actually feel the suction suck it down some and then apply light pressure and you're grinding away, dust free. I did not even have to use a fan to direct dust around or even close doors or hang plastic. There was simply no dust. The yellow part of the guard can unlock and slide to one side so you can grind against a flat surface , like if you need to grind the floor some by a wall. I was weary of the price at first , but I would repurchase in a heartbeat. If this one breaks at some point, I wouldn't hesitate to replace it for future use. I used this with a large rigid shop vac and the DeWalt quick connect adapter and the DeWalt to shopvac adapter.

work great
needed it to smooth out an indoor basement drain installation done by the previous owners where they never smoothed out the cement they poured over the cuts they did to the cement floor. Worked great attached to my shop vacuum. I used a Dewatt diamond cement cup grinder head.

GOOD PRODUCT BUT BEWARE: VERY LIMITED APPLICATION! ONLY FOR GRINDING CONCRETE!!
Not emphasized in the listing is the fact that this shroud is ONLY for use with the Dry Diamond Surface Cup Wheel for grinding concrete! IT WILL NOT WORK WITH OTHER GRINDING DISCS! It is designed for a very specific and limited application (grinding concrete) and WILL NOT WORK FOR OTHER APPLICATIONS. It says that very clearly in the instruction manual that comes with it, but this listing does not clearly indicate that. So if you are using a different type of grinding wheel or are using it for a different application, it won't work. There is nothing wrong with this, except that the buyer needs to know this going in and be totally frustrated that the shroud won't allow attachment of their grinding wheel. I bought this for my current project involving grinding steel. The dry diamond grinding wheel won't work for my project and my go-to excellent grinding wheel will not fit with this shroud mounted, so it is of no use to me. I wish it did work for my project because metallic dust from grinding steel is awful and I'd love to be able to control it better. The fault is not in the product, but in the lack of clarity with regard to the limited application of the product. If you are, in fact, grinding concrete - go for it! I think this would be an excellent dust collection system. It uses the same connection that the DeWalt sander does, so if you have a DeWalt orbital sander and its dust collection hose, that will fit on this perfectly.

Doesn't Fit 4.5 Inch Dewalt Grinder
So I need to grind paint off my basement floor, so I need a diamond cup wheel, a good angle grinder and a dust shroud. Sure enough, Dewalt offers all of these things. However, when these items arrive, the 4 inch diamond cup recommended to go with this angle grinder seems pretty shallow., though I'm sure a standard size. After some manipulating, the dust shroud goes onto the angle grinder but, for some inexplicable reason, it won't go the last 1/4 inch to the tool. End result, the cup wheel sits ABOVE the edge of the dust shroud. The DEWALT dust shroud is too deep for the DEWALT angle grinder and DEWALT diamond cup, despite its advertisement that it will fit all Dewalt angle grinders. Sure, it fits, but not if you want to grind anything with a diamond cup. Add to that, that the stupid exit port on the dust shroud doesn't fit a standard Shop Vac or likely any other vacuum hose. So, to address this, I bought the Dewalt adapter. It doesn't "adapt" to anything. It fits the shroud but you have to cut off the end of your shop vac hose and stick it in the adapter. Total waste of time and money. Just stuck my shop vac hose into the shroud and duct taped it. Total waste of money. So, for the important part, getting this rigged contraption that cost me north of $200 with one piece that I cannot even use, to actually grind something, SUCCESS, it WILL in fact grind a floor. HOWEVER, you have to use both hands and all your body weight to press the angle grinder down onto the ground so the wheel touches it (you have to use all that weight to get the wheel down below the bristles and shroud edge which otherwise would make the wheel float almost a half inch above the ground surface. So, using ALL MY MIGHT, I was able to grind about 10 square feet before I was completely exhausted from the effort. Not how this dumb thing is supposed to work, I'm sure. Total waste of $75. Have not had much experience with Dewalt, but I am not eager to go back to them for other items. Angle grinder functions okay but its super heavy and hard to manipulate. Whatever. IF you are able to use all this physical effort, the dust shroud otherwise seems to function. It just doesn't fit a DEWALT 4.5 inch angle grinder in terms of depth, requiring extreme efforts to make it function. Smarter people (smarter than I) probably would just return this.

What to know
We used this on a Dewalt DWE402K It has locking tabs and screw to secure it to the angle grinder. As long as your shopvac has a clean filter and bag it does a great job cleaning up the dust. My complaints are as follows. I ended up spending quite a bit on the DeWalt diamond grinder, because of the spacing that is required for the wheel not to rub on the guard. You can't even use the generic masonry wheels on this or the $10 diamond wheel I had been using on it for this reason. Also I purchased the expensive vacuum attachment to still have to tape my hose to it as none of my craftsman vacuum attachments and adapters would work. I was not going to spend more for more adapters. Also you can not switch the handle to the left side as it doesn't clear the vacuum connector. Be prepared to spend lots on extras to actually use this thing. Once you have everything it does an good job with dust. I don't love the way it attaches, but it doesn't fall off. until you screw it down it doesn't really sit square to the grinder. If you are considering this and have not already purchased a grinder maybe look at DWE46253. I just saw this now and wished I had seen it sooner. Pretty expensive for all the parts, but does the job.

Saved a lot of clearing up!
I had been put off initially by the price, but had to bite the bullet in the end as I wasn't sure whether I could trust the cheaper shrouds that are available. I bought this to fit my DeWalt 18v 5" grinder, whilst I was smoothing some screeding on a floor. I hooked it up to my DeWalt vacuum and used a DeWalt Cup on the grinder. It did a fantastic job with no dust coming out of the shroud at all. Very impressive! It's very well built with tough thick plastic - which could certainly take a number of bashes! Two slight negatives - I'm left handed, so it's best to swap the angle grinder handle to the opposite side of the grinder. Though, it is possible to have the vacuum attachment parallel to the handle if you keep it on the right of the grinder. Other niggle is that dust does come out of the front of the shroud if it is open for doing the edges - but there is nothing you can do about that with any attachment, and you can't blame the design. :o) The vacuum still managed to pull away most of the dust. Overall a fantastic bit of kit, and saved me having to cover the room in dustsheets.

Good but…
Excellent shroud but it’s missing the vacuum adapter as not standard connector. Have to buy extra adapter.

Its worth the money
Expensive yes. But it works extremley well. You need a bag filter not a cartrige because it will clog too fast and then of course ir wont work. I used it in a small basement ( 500sqft) grinding for 30 min and didnt really need a mask. As long as you keep it level, zero dust!
