The mat was folded, when taken out it had these fold marks in that's impossible to lay it out flat without wrinkles. When we tried a 1000 pieces puzzle on it, we can't flatten out the gaps. Also given the pieces are not stably connected, not sure how putting on the roll will not destroy the puzzle. So glad I ordered it myself because no instructions came with it. I did gift one of these to a friend and I'll probably have to explain the instructions even though they're simple if you never had one it's hard to make heads and tails on how to put it together I had to refer back to Amazon and the ad that shows you have to put it together. It would have been nice if the constructions were included even if they're super basic. I have not used it for my puzzles yet so I can really say how well it works but it's pretty much just a felt sheet with noodles and Velcro.
