The perfect portable sharpener, and bushcrafter tool!
I recently reviewed their bullet brass sharpener and I purchased this version as well. A great sharpener with two size options. These sharpeners are the last pencil, crayon, colored pencil sharpeners you will ever need to buy, with replaceable blades they will literally last forever. As an aside I always mention their other fine usage. Are you a bushcrafter, know one or have a significant other in your life that loves wilderness camping buy them one of these and explain why and you will have their respect for a good ling time. You see when camping in the wild one of the most important things is being able to light a fire and to do that tinder is extremely vaulable. Welm tinder then becomes yet another thing you need to carry unless you have one of these fine ruppert and mobieus sharpeners, merely gather a few pine sticks along your journey in the woods and you can make handfuls of tinder peels, stuff them in your foraging bag and you have fantastic resinous DRY tinder for your fire starting needs. Your bushcrafting friend will be over the moon with this high quality and unexpected valuable camping tool, and you will look like a proverbal camping genius. Lightweight, high value for art work and camping alike nothing could be easier.

Great Sharpener
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Who knew a high quality pencil sharpener could be so satisfying. Super sharp blade creates a perfect point. The brass housing gives it weight to make easy to use and near indestructible. Blades are replaceable, though I haven’t needed to change one yet. Great product!

Great For Soft Pastel Pencils
Sturdy and sharp but not rough- the best point I've ever gotten from any sharpener. Great for my soft pastel pencils.

NOT for Makeup Pencils
This is a very high quality pencil sharpener. You seriously can't get a better one for basic pencil sharpening needs. However, I purchased this with the intent of using it on my eye and lip pencils, and both holes are not made to the shorter angle required for the integrity of a soft pencil. This is strictly for the standard longer angle for graphite or hard core pencils. My go-to favorite for art drawing is generally the Staedtler blue barrel sharpener because it has both angles for my different types of sketching and color pencils, but I had been wanted a fully metal sharpener (and more compact) for my makeup bag, with strictly the short angle. I'll happily put this particular sharpener in with my graphites, but unfortunately I had to seek out another for my makeup bag. I already had the 3-bore Mobius and Ruppert sharpener in with my art supplies for a multi angle sharpener as well, but had wanted to take the guess work out of the process for this need. I guess I have the whole collection now, lol! I try to stick with the german name brands for a known standard of quality, but I did find what I was looking for in a no-name silver one. Essentially it looks exactly like this M+R, but silver and stated for makeup.

Built with good brass and steel
I am a pencil sharpener connoisseur. This one is one of the best. Always sharp and reliable. Built with good brass and steel.

Classy, good quality, but the big hole is not big enough for jumbo pencils (i.e., nyx)
It's otherwise very pretty, functional, good quality and classy looking, much different class than your average plastic sharpeners. Only two issues - the bigger hole is not big enough to fit jumbo pencil. and it does not have a lid that would catch the carvings.

Finally I have found a sharpener that works with all my pastel pencils including CaranD'Ache which have always been tricky! Great little find that enables me to use all my pencils now with confidence that I can sharpen them with ease. Very happy and would definitely recommend this sharpener.

My wonderful Derwent battery operated helical coil sharpener died after 9 years of use and Derwent have stopped making it - just typical ! So back in Dec 22 I bought a STAEDTLER 511 004 Single-Hole Pencil Tub Sharpener and a pack of Staedtler Tradition 2B pencils from Amazon. The sharpener was useless, chewing up the pencils and breaking the leads long before I got a point. I was lucky if I could sharpen the pencil twice before it was reduced to a stump. It wasn't me being ham-fisted either, my other half had the same problem. Thinking I maybe had a bad batch of pencils I bought another box. Same issue, and definitely the sharpener since the pencils sharpened up fine with a Stanley knife. After trawling through several Amazon pages for pencil sharpeners I stumbled across this M&R brass two hole sharpener. I ruled out the one hole version because with arthritic fingers it looks a little too small to hold comfortably. Being brass it's a good weight and feels sturdy. The striations around the side help with gripping it while sharpening. While putting it away I've dropped it twice onto a stone floor, and done it zero damage. It sharpens quickly and so easily. Gives an excellent point and leaves the wood collar section smooth. It even rescued the stumps left by the other sharpener. This pencil sharpener is so well made I bought a second one; for when I put it down and inevitably forget where I left it. A pack of spare blades is currently available on Amazon as well.
