Awesome home slicer
Machine came well packed. Instructions are okay. Slicer is gorgeous. Looks super good on the counter, and we were able to get it to store in one of our lower cabinets, which was unexpected. I figured I'd have to store it in the basement. We washed everything as we put it together, which was a nice little education for learning how it works. Setup is pretty easy. You'll need a flathead screwdriver to remove the blade (which is an awesome piece of metal), but everything else comes apart by screwing hand knobs, which is really nice. I had a 5.5lb mortadella, about 5.5" across I made for the virgin use. It had both pistachios and whole peppercorns. I thought the slicer did a great job handling them within the forcemeat, and the blade didn't appear to suffer any from them. I ran it at 1mm, which felt pretty good for getting good clean whole slices. The sliding carriage has a nice handle with spikes that allows a couple different configurations for how you want to hold the meat as you work. At 1/2mm, I wasn't able to really get even/whole slices. It would grab the slices as they came through, and spin them under the blade. I think with colder meat (maybe 30+ mins in the freezer), I might be able to pull off 1/2 a lb at that thickness, which would be perfect: just like a legit Italian deli. Motor feels powerful enough, with no lag on the mortadella as we sliced. Motor is very quiet, and feels perfectly balanced on the sturdy base. Self sharpening system looks very nice, though I haven't used it yet. Only negative is that one of the plastic handles snapped when we were cleaning it. I can still operate it, but kind of annoying. I registered the product, and will submit a warranty claim. It looks like the replacement part is about $10, but I still expect them to stand behind it. If they don't, I'll remove a star. Overall, very excited with the purchase, and can't wait to cure a pork belly and slice some bacon!

Worth the $$$
Got this for Xmas and so far it’s awesome (after 1 use)! It’s smaller than I expected but that will help with storage. It is heavy; good when you’re using it so you’re not worried about the machine sliding around (the rubber feet also help), not so great when moving it around from storage. Instructions aren’t great but plenty of YouTube videos out there. Build quality feels really good and sturdy. The adjustment knob is wound tight so don’t be afraid to use some muscle, same when taking off the tray. Action is smooth and quiet. Sliced some leftover roast beef and it was paper thin. Cleaning is kind of a pain as you have to take things apart but it’s worth the effort. Can’t wait to use this more!

Great home slicer for charcuterie.
I've had this slicer for 4 months now. I bought it to slice homemade charcuterie (lonza, bresaola, coppa, salami, etc.) and I am very happy with it overall. After some practice, I am able to slice these items as thinly as a deli. In terms of cleaning, it is relatively easy once you are used to the process. Absolutely buy a pair of cut resistant gloves for this purpose. I also suggest buying a dedicated screwdriver to keep in the kitchen. Three Phillips head machine screws must be removed before the blade can be removed for cleaning. You don't want to hunt around for one when the time comes. My only complaint is that the ink on knob that controls slice thickness has started to wear off. That should not happen with an appliance that requires regular cleaning.

Quality machine! Good for jerky!
I wanted the slicer to do raw meat for beef jerky. None of the other reviews really mentioned whether or not this was doable. The answer is that yes, you can do raw meat into small slices but it’s not going to be pretty unless the meat is at least slightly frozen. (It doesn’t slice cleanly, especially at the end of the piece.) To get really clean slices that are uniform, The raw meat must be frozen enough, but not so frozen that it is rock hard. There is kind of a sweet spot that requires some logistical planning! Cleaning is actually pretty easy, but you are really going to want to have cut-proof gloves on both hands! Also, do yourself a favor and take off the sharpener apparatus before you start slicing. It doesn’t need to be there in order to operate the machine and that way you don’t have to try and clean it too. Overall this is a solid unit, the quality reflects the price. The motor is powerful, it’s easy to use, and the blade is stout.

Good product, but be aware that
The slicer itself is very good and feels quality. This is a 7.5" blade, not 6". But know a few things: (1) It's involved to clean up, but it is a messy food slicer. (2) We had to use an impact driver to initially loosen the 3 screws that held the blade. (3) We had to touch up the central bore of the blade disc with a rotary tool so it wouldn't be such a tight fit off and on the hub. (4) We went around all the edges of the unit with sandpaper to remove unnecessarily sharp edges. We also bought the larger 10" model in teflon, which had a couple additional problems: (5) the teflon coating had some embedded sand specks which ruined the flatness, so I had to chip them out with a screwdriver, and (6) the 10" blade was so tight on the motor hub it required a mallet hammer to initially remove, and required a lot of rotary tool action to make it fit smoothly. My suggestion would be to stick to the aluminum models with plastic handles (the metal handles are heavy!), and then optionally pick the teflon blade.

nice machine but it had issues
after receiving the machine, we set about making jerky. Worked ok but something seemed wrong. When I was slicing a loaf of bread I noticed the sliding tray was not going all the way leaving about a half inch unsliced. Closer examination reveled that the tray was bumping into the blade guard blocking it from the full movement needed for a complete cut. I had to did out a few tools and was able to adjust the slide to miss the guard. After the adjustment it works fine.

Exceeded my expectations
This machine is very well made and operates perfectly. Others have complained about removing the screws that hold the blade but I had no trouble at all; the screws came loose easily. The blade itself measures about 7.5 inches, but the distance from the bottom of the feed tray to the top of the blade is 6 inches. Hence it is listed as a 6" slicer. The motor is very quiet, and the feed tray operates smoothly and adjusts easily for thickness control. It also comes with an extra belt and sharpening stone. My personal preference was to leave the sharpening attachment off until the blade actually requires attention, thus there is one less piece to remove when cleaning the unit. The only difficulty I encountered was misalignment of the meat guide plate. It was easy to correct by way of two allen-screws located under the motor cover. From what I can see this machine should provide many years of reliable service.

Great product, but a bit hard to clean
The product is great. It works as described and I am able to slice semi-frozen meat very thinly. The device also fits on my countertop unlike the versions that use a larger blade. I don't like how long it takes to clean this product, but the same could be said for models from other brands as well. Get a cut resistant glove if you buy this product.

Great slicer for the home.
So much better than our old slicer, three tight screws to remove the blade for cleaning. We got safety gloves from Amazon to use when cleaning the blade as it is very sharp. Very happy with the new slicer.

Strong quiet motor
I was looking for a good meat slicer that didn’t bind, like the cheapie models do. I use to have one that had a plastic back on it, so if you pressed the meat through the blade you ended up with too thick a slice. I wanted a good one and this is it! The only drawback is that there’s not much room before the blade for a typical Black Forest ham.
