Replacement socket for missing piece in cased tool set. It looks good in there

Bought it to replace the 3/8 18mm craftsman socket that met its end on brakes. This socket seems good quality, fits perfectly, handles the torque I throw at it and does its job. Tekton is good stuff, and customer support is second to none. Glad I bought it!

This 3/8" 8mm socket turned out to be a surprisingly solid addition to my tool kit as my cat set does not include this size. The machining is clean, the fit on fasteners is tight, and it locks into the ratchet with zero wobble. Pros Precise 8mm fit — Seats cleanly on bolts And nuts with minimal slop. Strong construction — Feels durable and handles normal torque without distortion. Smooth chrome finish — Easy to wipe clean and resists rust. Secure 3/8\" drive engagement — Snaps onto the ratchet firmly and stays put.

Tekton makes good stuff. So the quality is nice and it’s standard Tekton quality. I wasn’t sure if this was gonna be necessary or just sort of a gimmick thing. But there is a clear difference between a standard socket and this extra short. It’s much closer to a stubby socket but just a bit shorter than my stubby sockets and it has a slightly thinner chrome wall than my impact stubby does. This socket seems better suited for a hand tool use on a ratchet. Where a stubby would be better for a box wrench or impact. It’s 3/8 inch. So you get better torque than using a 1/4 inch socket. Not sure if you need sizes below 13 mm. 1/4 can handle those. But in the 14mm and 15 mm range these really help. Especially rusty exhaust stuff. Prob can use a wrench once you hit 20 mm and up. But 18mm and 19 mm fit nice on some of those brake bolts that can be hard to get at. So I’d recommend you buy those sizes that fit your vehicle or the whole set if you’re a mechanic. Options seem to make life easier when you need them. Good buy. I’m happy with the purchase. And each socket is a good price.

This TEKTON 3/8-inch drive 24 mm deep socket is a solid, reliable tool for regular garage use. The build quality is decent, and the 6-point design grips the flats of fasteners securely without slipping or rounding off edges. The deep well length provides the necessary clearance for longer bolts, and the markings are clear enough to read easily in a toolbox. It feels sturdy enough to handle standard ratchets and hand tools without any issues. It doesn’t necessarily stand out with any flashy features, but it functions exactly as it should and is a practical addition to a socket set.

I needed a short thin wall 6 point for my 2011 Highlander transfer case fluid change. This allowed me to loosen the fill port without extensions. After filling the transfer case I ground this down to 17mm long and was able to properly torque both drain and fill bolts using a midrange 3/8” drive torque wrench. This socket made my fluid change super easy in ridiculous tight spacing due to the exhaust piping in this version of the Highlander.

Did not fit for my needs as it was meant for Car repairs. As a tool it is very solid and would buy if I needed this type of socket
