After breaking the needle on my Coravin while sticking it into a bottle of wine, I realized something! These needles don't last forever. I also realized that my old needle was getting dull and it was requiring more effort to push down into the cork, so that's probably why it finally broke. The new needle is sharper than a tack and easy to insert. It was easy to install and fit my Coravin perfectly. Hopefully I'll get 2-3 more years out of this one, but doubtful since I am now using the Coravin a lot more.

I don't detect any difference in quality between these needles and the ones that came with the Coravin. Recommended.

Standard Coravin needle. Good flow rate and sharp enough to puncture new and older corks. It can pass more sediment than the narrower vintage needle so slowly tilt your bottle and then hold the tilt for a few moments before you start the pour. I pre-buy a backup needle as soon as I replace one in use. So I have a spare on hand. I wasn’t paying attention and allowed the Coravin to go in at an angle bending my 3 year old needle.

Yes, I think it's too expensive for what it is but five stars because it does work and function as promised.

I was hoping it would solve the issue of the slow flow. And it did. A new head on it, I think the other one was just dull and did'nt go into the bottle with ease, and removing was ridiculously hard. Now both ways work smooth and the flow is more like it was when it was new.

This was to replace a needle that broke. I mean, it works and all, but you can tell by the junction between the needle and the cap that it ain't the highest of quality. The original failed at that joint which greatly impacted flow. 3-stars for a product that doesn't last as long as it should considering the expense of the primary device. Sure it works... but when I'm stuck buying "razor blades" for my "razor", I expect them to last a long time.

I wouldn't be without my Coravin but have found some evidence of oxidation on wines with poor-quality or older corks. As such, I invested in one of these and have noticed a sharp downtick in evidence of degradation after using the Coravin on vintage wines. Talking to some sommelier friends about the reliability of the Coravin system, they suggested that vintage needs were in fact a good way of ensuring minimal oxidation for wines with good quality or newer corks. Despite it requiring a little more patience when pouring, I've now switched as a result to using the vintage needle all the time.

I have had the coravin system for a few years and I am convinced they must be using a different type of metal, or cheaper version now. In the past, the needles would last a decent amount of time. Now, it seems to bend without trying. I am always extra careful when inserting the needle through the cork, and the last bottle I tried, it bent the needle while very slowly and carefully inserting into the cork. For the price, I expect better quality. I noticed other people on here have had the same issues and have also complained regarding pricing. The whole point is to preserve the wine, thus saving money, but if I have to spend almost $100 on a needle, it makes me question how much longer I will be using the system. I'm disappointed as it used to be a great system.
