Garden Watering Computer Automatic 4-Zone Water Hose Timer with 2 Solenoid Valve Irrigation System Controller, Green&Grey

We bought an identical set to this prior to our travels about 4 years ago. It works a dream and a set of batteries will do at least a year’s use. It allows the plants to be watered in a variety of timer settings, in many various options (length of time, times per day/week, choose the different hose lines (we use all four)). The only reason I am buying it again is that I left the main block connected last winter (idiot!) and the water froze breaking the seal of the main water splitter unit. It was better value to buy a complete new set so I have spares. The main unit and solenoid valves are all in perfect working order. In the past we have left it to its own devices while we were away for 8 weeks in the summer, and we lost no garden plants! It worked a dream. It also saves lots of time having to walk a hose around the garden, just give it a quick manual override and the plants are all watered :)

I feel I should write a review to give you an opinion on this but also to point out a few things! I am not an expert and had no idea what a 'solenoid valve' was, I do now! In the picture you can see 2 white box type attachments with a hose attachment on the end, these get connected at the back by the small black wire to the various 'stations'. This will then work your hose attachment on the programme you set. The other two hose attachments are not programmable unless you buy more solenoid valves, easily available through Amazon and only £10 each so not too much extra expense. You will need to purchase 2 more if you intend to run 4 different hoses off this system. In fact it is to me a bonus to leave one free as you can then attach a regular hose and turn on at any time to do some pot watering etc. The programming itself is not too difficult but the instructions are rubbish! You can work it out yourself with a little trial and error. The previous person who said it is a bit random in its watering I now understand. This timer basically works through each separate hose attachment at a time. For example, if I set the first 'station' to come on at 8am for 40 minutes it will do this programme and even if I put the same for the next 'station' it waits until it has finished the first programme. So, in fact the second 'station' doesn't start at 8am but at 8.40am. This doesn't bother me at all and may explain why the previous poster found it went off at sporadic times. Overall I like this, takes a little bit of working out and maybe buying an extra solenoid valve or two but it works now.

Bought this to automate the watering of four separate flowerbeds in my garden. First lesson is this kit only comes with two solenoids, which only allows you automatically switch On/Off two of the four hose pipe outlets. This may be enough for you but in my case, I needed the four, so I had to buy another two solenoids. Second lesson is that the programming is not what I was expecting. It is advertised as having 4 x programmes, 4 x cycles, duration setting and Interval setting. Well, I thought this could give me endless configurations if I needed them but that’s not exactly what it delivers. The logic is 1. You can have up to 4 periods of watering in a 24hr period. Each one of these periods is referred to as a Programme. So for example watering will automatically start at say 2am, 4am, 2pm and 4pm. 2. For each of the watering periods (Programmes) you can have up to 4 Cycles each with a predefined duration for each of the four water outlets. However, the set of four Cycle Durations you have defined is replicated across the four programmes. 3. You can set up intervals at which your predefined programmes will run, Daily, 1 every 2 days or one every 3 day etc or on predefined days of the week So as an example, I set up 4 x Programmes at 2am, 4am, 2pm and 4pm and four cycles each of 10 mins in duration to run daily across the four outlets…..This is what will happen. On everyday 02:00 - 02:10 - Water to Output One will run for 10mins and switch off 02:10 - 02:20 - Water to Output Two will run for 10mins and switch off 02:20 - 02:30 - Water to Output Three will run for 10mins and switch off 02:30 - 02:40 - Water to Output Four will run for 10mins and switch off 02:40 – 04:00 – No activity 04:00 - 04:10 - Water to Output One will run for 10mins and switch off 04:10 - 04:20 - Water to Output Two will run for 10mins and switch off 04:20 - 04:30 - Water to Output Three will run for 10mins and switch off 04:30 - 04:40 - Water to Output Four will run for 10mins and switch off Etc etc. It will actually work for me but is less flexible than I thought it would be. The programming logic for me seems like it has been designed by an Alien.

I bought this product and it worked for about 2 months. After this period of time after the first electric valve finishes the other ones are not starting anymore (with the same settings in the past worked fine).Checked the other electric valves and it seems are working ok if I mount them in the A hole. Reset the product, tried several times to reconfigure ..same issue. I am not recommending this product at all.

I bought this unit to replace a watering timer that had started leaking. In addition to the timer I also bought an additional two solenoid valves to allow me to stagger the times of the various areas I needed watering. The unit allows you to set when you want each solenoid to operate, how long for and finally when you want the watering cycle to repeat. I was away from home for extended periods during some warm and sunny weather and the plants in my polytunnel and garden were all watered sufficiently. I would recommend this unit to other gardeners who want or need to automate the watering of their plants.

So I brought this about 6 months ago, and it has been in use one cycle per day ever since. Initially I thought this was great, but the battery has just ran out and this has made a number of problems clear. A bit of background - the valves use a bi-stable type of relay, which means that no battery power is used unless and untill it is actually switched on or off. It does not use any power while it is on or off, only momentarily when it switches. A pulse of normal polarity power switches on, a reverse polarity pulse switches off. I used quite cheap batteries, to be fair, but still did not expect the batteries to run out after 6 months. If I had used 4 valves, 4 cycles a day, the batteries would have lasted perhaps 10 days. This type of valve, I would say is not suitable for battery usage I would say because it uses too much power for a small battery. A menicus valve would have been a better choice as in some other water timeclocks. I had noticed some days it did not come on, and had noticed the on-screen battery monitor was flashing. But then one day it had enough juice to turn on but not off. The water ran for 25 hours, and then turned off. So 2nd time round, perhaps it was a bit warmer and it just managed to turn off. This is dangerous because it could result in serious flooding. This is not a fit and forget item. You need to check it. But the whole point of a timer is you should not need to do so. I should not have used a cheap battery, and I should have taken immediate notice of the low battery warning. A technical way to mitigate this would be to put a resistor in circuit when turning on, that is absent when turning off, so if anything fails it will be the switch on cycle. Lastly, I should say that I changed the battery, and although I did this as fast as I could, all information has been lost, the time, the cycles. Set up is complex and so far I have not been able to re-program the unit, so its broken untill I find the online manual and spend time running through it. Thats not acceptable in my view: a decent power storage capacitor and a fast batery change should keep the settings. Although the unit failed after a few weeks I must say the company were excellent and gave me a full refund. It is only when things go wrong you experience what a company is really like. I did not expect anything back. I would use them again and would have probably tried a replacement but had already purchased another brand.

Replaced a more complicated WiFi enabled system that kept failing me, this is great to run my soaker hoses, would recommend.

Il programmatore in un corpo separato dalle valvole è una soluzione molto comoda e intelligente. La programmazione è intuitiva. Tutti gli accessori fatti bene. La cosa più comoda a mio avviso è il funzionamento dalle due stilo tipo AA, quali forniscono l'energia in maniera più prevedibile - durano una staggione di irrigazione (forse anche di più, ma io cambio per non avere delle sorprese).

Il faut qq petites minutes pour bien comprendre le fonctionnement et ensuite tout est très bien. A noter, après 2 mois d'utilisation quotidienne le corps s'est fissuré et n'était plus étanche. Le fournisseur m'a expédié sans délai un kit de rechange et même si j'ai dû passer commande et payer d'avance pour suivre le "process", j'ai reçu le produit ET le remboursement en moins de 4 jours ! Bravo pour le sérieux du fournisseur YARDEENSTORE et le suivi de AMAZON ! Sylvain
