Tear Stain Prevention Soft Chews for Dogs (120 Count, Chicken)

I've had mixed feelings on these. I got a rescue Cavalier King Charles Spaniel beginning of Sept last. His eyes teared quite a bit, so I started the search for a solution. After trying some cleaners, I figured out I needed to try a feed through product. Never having had a dog with a tearing problem, this was new. At first I gave them full strength as directed for a couple days, one cube for 15-50lb dog (mine is 22lbs). My dog got HORRIBLE diarrhea, the type that turned to strawberry jam, super scary!!! Luckily I was able to get it stopped before I had to take him into the vet. After a week of only boiled turkey and pumpkin, we got his system back on track. I figured out I needed to give a MUCH smaller dose and work my way up. We went down to 1/4 cube for a week, then 1/2 cube for a week, 3/4 for a week and finally fill cube. So we used it til probably Christmas time befor I saw a marked improvement. I kept him on it that long because some of the reviews said it had taken that long. It was working by winter, but I wasn't sure if the lack of dust in the air (we live in a desert) was helping, or this. Also we'd tried a couple different high quality foods. Like I said, I wasn't sure if it was the angel eyes, snow keeping dust down, or diet change. After Christmas we took two trips (month total over 6 weeks time) to AZ, where it was dusty and basically like our place in summer. The tears didn't come back!!! Then I wasn't sure if it was the food he'd been on since Feb or not. When I ran out about the beginning of April, I didn't get more. Within a few days his tears were back. I ordered more angel eyes, and started him back on 1/2 cube dose. Wishing a few days his treats dried up again. Now it's mid May and he's still on the 1/2 dose. It's dusty again and the tears are still gone. These dry out quickly, and my dog doesn't want to eat them, no matter how tightly I close the top. The smallest jar is 4 months worth. So I don't feed them as treats, I just crumble them up into his food. He eats them no problem. Looong story summarized. You don't want to start the smaller dogs full dose, work it in slowly into the diet. They took about 3 months to kick in, but once they finally started to work, they really worked. After they start to work well, you may be able to reduce the dose as I was. And of course as some reviewers said, you may notice a difference in a matter of days, for us it was longer, but they do work.

I have a Havanese who was tearing uncontrollably - thank goodness I found this product. Often times the tearing can be due to hair in their eyes, which can block the tear ducts. This was actually happening to my schnauzer until I decided to keep the hair short around her eyes and that eliminated the discharge from her eyes. However, for my Havanese, this didn't seem to work. Honestly, it was embarrassing and looked like I didn't take care of her at all, but I literally couldn't keep up with her face cleaning, which needed to happen about 3x per day. I took a chance on this product and boy, am I glad I did! I had also purchased the Absorbine Showsheen Bath in a Bottle and PurEyes Tear stain remover - and I was using all 3 in the beginning. I cleaned her face twice a day and gave her the "snack" at night. I purchased this on February 28th and today is May 16th, and I would say I started noticing about 2 weeks ago that I had to clean her face now maybe once a week with the Showsheen Bath in a Bottle. So, all in all, I would say it took about 2 months before I really looked at her and said, "Wow, look how beautiful your face is!!" I think I read in other reviews that it took about 2 weeks to work, and if I had not continued to keep the "faith", I might have given up. She likes the snacks, even as picky as she is, and actually expects one every night, which made it easier to stick with. But all that time, I thought, well, as long as she likes them, even if they do nothing, they aren't harming her. I am thrilled this is working, given I am not the most patient person in the world. I wish I had taken a picture just for comparison purposes, but it was just sad looking her face and eyes. I still keep the hair over her eyes shorter (because I like to see her eyes, too!), and although she is beautiful no matter what, this product makes her even more beautiful!!

These are easy to give and my dog likes the flavor. They seem a bit pricy for what they do for my dog. Jake has Boxer allergy eyes, he gets allergy tablets in the season. These chews cleared up about half his drainage, and it did improve his "rust" marks but one could not tell it unless they knew my dog. So for me, they are not a total solution. To be fair, they did help my dog. And, they are a little too pricey.

My Shichon (S***zu / Bichon) seems a *little* better with this, but definitely didn't cure the red tear stains. At first, I'd think some days it actually looks like it is making a significant improvement, and other days seems just slightly improved. It is so easy to administer, because it is just another treat that our dog actually loves. So at night, we give him this, then his Greenie, and he'll do all sorts of tricks to get either. He actually seems more excited for this than he does for his Greenie. So at worst, it is just a good treat to give your dog once a day. At best, it actually makes some difference. I also got Eye Envy, which a groomer recommended, and after reading up on it on Amazon. Honestly, Eye Envy seems like so much work, that I don't keep up with it. But this is easy, just a treat. To me it seems it can't hurt, and seems at least mildly effective. Cutting away stained hair of course makes the biggest difference. I got this, Eye Envy, & a special shampoo when I started to think he looked like a raccoon :). This is the only treatment that is easy to stick with. In the end, the red tear stains went away when my dog went on antibiotics for something we took him to the doctor for when he was acting suddenly very lethargic and we were worried. Although the medication he was on after his neutering didn't improve his condition. We also switched to an allergy food prescribed by our vet (something from Royal Canine) and for his treats. But switching food didn't seem to cure it as a side effect, but now that it is gone, I don't want to switch the food back in case it causes red tear stains to come back.

I give these to my white cavachon dog and it has kept his fur white. He likes the flavor of them.

It keeps her eyes from becoming dry. And she loves the flavor.

Update Jan 2020- the company seems to have changed the formula. This product worked miracles a year ago but does not seem to work at all now. We even tried not using them for a while to see if an immunity was built up, but upon starting back we barely can notice a difference. We recently purchased a Coton De Tulear, which we immediately noticed had very dark tear stains. These were so bad that it was actually matting the fur down with the coloring covering a large portion of the face. We started giving these to her daily; luckily, she loves them so we use them as treats. It took about a month or so for the stained hair to grow out, but we have now noticed that her fur is practically white now. We continue to give them daily and she is practically stain free now. I will admit, I had zero hope that this product would work, so I had to eat my words to my wife. I highly recommend this product if tear stains are an issue.

Worked but had to give my dog a half dose because the full dose upset his tummy (he’s 22 lbs)

Efficace mais hors de prix !!!

Excellent product tear stains have cleared up.

These actually work!! After trying other cheaper alternatives, we got to these from a recommendation. We have a Toy Poodle. She has had some pretty severe staining under her eyes. We now give her these. After a month the staining is gone. We didnt notice too much until her recent haircut, but its much better. Top product.
