Buy this, you will not regret it
I used to own a full separates based system. I utilised the speakers from that system, and ... wow ! The online reviews are correct about the sound quality, for the money, this is excellent. Streaming amazon music, cd player, optical input from TV, Bluetooth from my phone AND dab radio all in one package. Marantz amplifiers have a good reputation, and this just confirms it to me. Easy to set up as well Much better than my previous bluesound node 2, clearer, and more dynamics I would recommend this to anyone

Needed for good music
This is an expensive item - but as a lover of classical music, so long as the speakers are of the quality needed, this piece of kit (my speakers cost £200 each) is an excellent buy. I have over 2000 classical music cds, so appreciate quality of sound (although I have never managed to any piece of kit to pick out the triangle part in Brahms 3rd Symphony, which at a concert I attended was eminently clear) but nevertheless - it is an excellent buy.

Nice unit but please Marantz stop this pointless penny pinching
So far over the years i've had a CR603, CR611, and now this CR612. I purchased this after my CR603 "died" after reporting an overcurrent condition (blinking red light when you power up). I opened the new CR612 up and then .. "Why is the front panel USB socket gone ?" The rest of the unit is great, and has a lot of features, and is HEOS compatible. However taking the front USB port away just spoils it. Made to a price and no more. would i recomend it ? , yes i would , but i hate this penny pinching. why not charge £5 more and just put the USB socket on the front panel as it always was. Sound quality seems fine but obviously depeneds on the speakers you use. BT connectivity is a lot better than it was for the CR611 but then it is a few years later in technology . MY CR611 often needed re-pairing withjj an Iphone. The CR612 seems veyry quick and reliable. The TuneIn application seems to be limited to the UK and a few European countries but i was able to connect to it from the phone app , and that offeered the "full" selection. Spotify worked fine. Maybe i did somethiogn wrong here.?

Affordable system that offers bi-amping, and the ability to source music from pretty much anything.
Like: * Sound quality - so much better than my other Denon system that's more than twice the price. * Ability to connect to local music server, streaming services e.g. Spotify, amazon music etc., Bluetooth for phone streaming, internet radio... and it has a CD player (if you remember those). * Sub woofer out *Can act as a 2.1 surround system with your TV via sp/dif optical input (you'll need a subwoofer though) - nice that it detects when you turn the TV on and goes into the right mode *Offers true bi-amping (!!!), bi-wiring, and basic connection Dislike: It's not built like a tank - a bit plasticy (I guess they spent the money on the sound quality)

Amazing connectivity
Take 10 minutes or so to download the HEOS app to the machine and then to update the app on iPhone and machine. Instructions to set up work well and I found it relatively easy. I hadn’t realised it is a full blown media server (all I wanted was a CD player with an amp); once a LAN cable is connected you have access to the whole range of radio stations. As it’s WiFi and Bluetooth I can play whatever on the machine and listen to it on my TV (with sound bar) and see ALL the CD label, lyrics and artist info on the TV. Awesome. I might add a fifth star when I’ve had time to carefully listen to my fave CDs.

A Streaming HiFi that won't connect to the network!
Bought this to replace a 6 year old MCR611, thinking that the technology would have improved. The 611 has excellent audio quality, but the software side is a bit "clunky". Connected up the 612, first thing that I noticed was that the display was EXTREMELY dim and difficult to read. Started "Quick" Setup (sic), found available networks without problem, but failed to connect using WEP key (3 attempts). Then attempted a manual setup, selecting network, and entering WEP key (which takes forever), failed to connect again "incorrect password", again I made 3 attempts and verified the password each time. I have reinstalled the 611, and returned the 612 to Amazon. We have 2 other streaming devices, both Roberts, they are extremely easy to set up and 100% reliable, sadly they don't have the power of the Marantz for a larger room.

I had trouble initially getting the device to play wirelessly through Denon HEOS speaker and was concerned that the fact that the unit shipped from Amazon UK might be the reason. I was very impressed with Denons online support advice who were helping over a number of days as I tried to solve it and I have now done so. The price for this CD receiver via Amazon was so much better than anywhere else that I was going accept it as a good buy even if I didn’t solve the issue but am very happy now that’s it’s all going well

Distinction between bass and treble is kind of muddled ,I guess this amp is too digital. Its like playing mp3 format all the time
