Vollco VSH-3 Cutter Sharpener Compatible with Philips/Norelco Shavers Using HQ-9 Replacement Heads

This product worked incredibly well. I went from unable to cut stubble to clean shaving in about 5 seconds.

Not quite as advertised, I bought both the replacement heads and the sharpener. The replacement heads replaced a 6 year old Norelco series 8040. Worked good but- the replacement heads have to be kept together as per head. In other words the blades are made individually to each head unit.If these blades and heads are mixed they do not cut well!! Another words the cutting rotary blade taken out of head 1 will NOT do a good cutting when placed in unit 2 or 3 . That stated - the same situation exits for the sharpener !!! That's why this got negative feedback from some users !!. Take one head cutter at a time out use the sharpener, then replace in PROPER place takes more time -yes, then these sharpeners then work very well!! What does not help is if your razor is really old ,l have reason to believe the results will not be as good as if your started using the sharpeners when the razor is say 2 years old. The sharpeners work reasonably well when razor is -say 2 years old. not 20 years old. When using an electric razor daily these sharpeners can make the blades last a long long time,,,simply do not mix the blades and head units up!! Cheers , Made in Greece by Philippinos what else ? I bought this with some trepidation, as I had purchased a similar product some years ago. But much to my delight it does what it claims to do! This is the best thing for a Norelco razor since "Razor Magic"! Shaving is closer and faster than before and rivals new blades. My only concern is how long will it last? But I figure that if I get 4-5 or more sharpenings it will have been money worth spent. The things you need to remember though, are to make sure the blades are absolutely clean and make sure the blades go back in the screens they came from.

I've attempted to sharpen several pair of Norelco triple header blades and neither pair shave me as well as ones I have been using for 6-8 months. It was a waste of money buying them. I would not recommend them to anyone.

After using this the blades worked better, not like new ones mind you, but better. So it does extend the life of your blades

Greetings Reviewer, I purchased these Shaver Sharpening Heads by Vollco, to extend the life of my Norelco model HQ9 shaver heads. BE SURE THEY STATE SPECIFICALLY THE CORRECT SHAVER MODEL. I am saving the cost of replacement heads at $20-35 per set, by using sharpener kit that extends the use of the existing heads. First, remove the three metal grills which holds the blades, clean the blades, and replace the grill portion by inserting the three sharpener where the grills were located, that are custom made for the HQ9 model shaver. Place the blades in the indented sharpener wells, place the flexible holder, close and secure the shaver head to the hand part of the shaver. Turn the shaver on for 3-10 seconds which sharpens the used blade for an extended 2-4 months depending on the facial hair thickness and number of hairs on our head. Reverse the process by removing the sharpener wells and place the metal grills in their place and place the sharpened blades back into the grills, secure the flexible holder and secure the head to the handle. You are ready to shave as if the shaver had a new set of blades. At some point the sharpener kit will ware out or the blades will no longer hold a sharp edge to cut our hairs, at which point you may want to buy another kit or set of replacement blades. <><

Vollco makes this product especially to sharpen HQ-9 heads, but the bottom of each housing is flat instead of following the three-step height of HQ-9 blades. I don't know yet if the sharpener works, but from its first use it is clear that the inner, higher circle of blades leaves a much deeper groove than the other two, so there is nothing special about the shape of this sharpener.

First of all the shipping was great. Second, instead of having to buy more blades when they get dull, resharpen them. I've done this myself, that's how I know, when my electric razor blades got dull I'd buy new ones because I didn't know they could be resharpened. I know, not a smart move for me. Now though, instead of spending $30 - $40 on replacement blades I bought this and I'll never buy replacement blades again.
