Height varies with ammo. The 9 mm case is 1.5 inches; .38 cal/357 magnum is 2.0 inches; NATO 5.56/.223 is 3 inches. (Those are the cases I have, but those should handle most ammunition. **Q: Why take ammo out of the box in which it came to put in another box?** A: Buy ammo in 1000 round bulk ! Buying by the 50 round box just showes how little You know about guns !!! **Q: How well does it snap lock? Has anyone try a test drop to see if it'll break open?** A: It locks. I have not tested it, but lets just say their is no way in hell this thing would survive any sort of drop.
