Hunter Pro-C PC-400i 4 Zone Base Controller; Indoor with Plug-in Transformer, Gray, Small

As always, Hunter builds a solid tool. Had a lightning strike take out my existing system. Replaced the controller and fixed several other valve problems with the Hunter valves and did it myself saved 3 thousand over the quoted repair price. Install of controller took half an hour.

Did not have a remote control but it worked great to replace our previous model that was in the home for 10 years. These are built to last

This was easy to remove my old unit that had failed and replace it with this unit.

Purchased this to replace their older model that was rendered inoperable due to a nearby lightning strike. Removed the old unit, replaced it with this and it worked immediately. Only wiring difference was the slightly relocated "COMMON" terminal connection, otherwise perfect retrofit. I've found this and the unit it replaced, very reliable. Take the time to read through the programming instructions, there are plenty of extra features that it is capable of in addition to just a simple on/ off timer operation.

Would have got five stars, except for two interrelated installation/documentation issues. When you call for watering on a particular day, say, every Tuesday, a tiny icon indicates this. When you call for "no water" on a Tuesday, a circle with a slash through the icon lights up. Problem is, to my eyes these were VERY hard to see, and the addition of a "slashed circle" superimposed upon the icon made the entire indication darker, EASIER to see, and led me to believe I was calling for water when in fact I was not. I finally figured this out after a few hours of frustration. I then moved on to establish odd day watering. I continued to test this over several hours by varying the date/time to see if water came on. These test failed too. IN ORDER TO WATER ON EVEN OR ODD DAYS, YOU MUST FIRST CALL FOR WATER ON EACH WEEKDAY. In other words, watering occurs ONLY when there is a call for water by day of week AND the date matches the odd/even filter. Strictly read, the docs implied otherwise.

Perfect! Replaced an 8 year old unit. Took just a few minutes and we were good to go!!! Been working fine after a month. It was immediately shipped and arrived within the time frame

Replaced a 17 year old "SRC+" that had failed with the "ProC". Easy to install, easy to program.

The product itself is pretty good. However, the description of the product is misleading and borderline deceptive. Nowhere do you see a photo of the actual device that you get, which will only control four lines. It talks about being able to control up to 23 lines with an optional Hybrid EZ Decoder; that is, “- Modular Pro-C Controller: conventional wiring from 4 to 23 stations - Hybrid EZ Decoder option: up to 32 total stations; 28 stations max. if two-wire only” However to do this, you have to buy additional modules. I’m trying to decide if I want to go through that hoop of buying additional modules or just returning the whole unit.
