Soviet Russian USSR Army Flask Military Water Canteen

I got this canteen to go with my Russian knapsack, was in like new condition. Unlike other reviewers, I could hardly taste it was made out of aluminum when I drank water out of it. The gasket in the cap was like new condition too.

Brand New condition, date stamp of 1989 on it. Nice simple water bottle, with a convenient pouch. Looks to be durable.

This item is really cool. And useful. And durable as heck. But it smells like diesel. Like the kind of Diesel the red army used to defeat the Nazis. So its a bitter sweet smell.

Love the flask and looks like it has taken a bit of a beating, smells like rubber inside of flask. I can't seem to make the smell go away which is the down fall.

The Russian who sewed the canteen strap on goofed up so I have a lady re sewing it for me. If I had been issued this I would have been screaming for another one. This is all brand new and unissued. I have another one of these and its OK. The person that sewed this case either was new or just didn't give a damn. The back of the strap was sewed to far down so you couldn't get the strap off the canteen when unbuttoned in the front. So it just had to be repositioned. Don't let this stop you from buying it. I have a magnet in my body that attracts defective things to me.

Excellent piece to have. Seals perfectly rugged old school. This goes everywhere with me now. Mine had a few character dings and was used but this increased the value as a historian.

Update: The seller made good on this and replaced the item. In all fairness, they are worthy of editing my original post. Way to go! Original: Bummer. Came chipped and damaged with a strange label residue on it. Don’t have time to go through the time to return it. We take care and teach 2033 students
