The future of home cinema projectors
Purchased the Viewsonic M2 almost 2 months ago and I can't recommend it highly enough. Firstly, it's so small and light you can plug and play it anywhere. Second, it's bright, the colours have a marvellously saturated look, the sharpness is perfectly adequate (and I'm using this to fill a 120" screen). It's also amazingly quiet. I have this sat by the side of my settee which means if I nod off it's barely a foot and a half from my head but even so I can barely hear it. Compared to so many other projectors - whether budget or high end - which sound like wheezing air ventilation systems when they're on this is most pleasing. Most intriguing is the 4k and HDR issue. I use a Roku stick and all I can say is that the 4/8k you tube videos look downright astounding and the (apparently HDR-enabled) colours are significantly more vivid with the output from the M2/Roku compared to same from my PS4. The M2 comes loaded with picture settings you can fiddle with but the settings are so good out of the box - I use the 'TV' setting and have never felt the slightest need to alter it - plus it has a Frame Interpolation setting (remarkable at this price point!) which lets you smooth out juddery motion if that's a problem for you. I use that setting on some of the 4k drone videos on You Tube and it works fine. I also want to point out that the M2 is flawless at locking onto the frame rate and Hz of whatever you feed into it. Some projectors can't do this so you get juddery playback but watching panning shots on various movies I can see significant improvements in fluidity and general smoothness. I don't want to go on too long (lol) but IMO this is a phenomenal piece of kit and if you can pick it up for the just under £600 I paid for it then I highly recommend it. And if you're looking to step up from the under £200 budget projectors the M2 really should be your next stop. Trust me, this is a great projector for the money!

Do not buy this projector
The picture and brightness is OK for a cheap projector in a dark room however it's biggest selling point is the ability to access an app store and install your favourite apps. However this app store is not Google play. It's Viewsonics custom store....sort of. Most of the apps don't work or are outdated so you will be forced to use a firestick or similiar with this projector. The projector is easy to use and the remote is basic but not the best. Sound is also clear and can go quiet loud but does lack depth and bass. If you wanna watch this projector at an angle to the wall or mess with the keystone manually......DON'T. You will get microstutters. This is a known issue that viewsonic do not want to address and fix. Pointed straight at a flat wall using auto keystone the project works stutter free. For the money I would avoid this projector it really is that bad if you want to have the projector to the side of you as opposed to behind you. Also the apps store is a con and side loading apps doesn't mean it will work due to the out of date android OS. Version 8.0 I believe.

Nice, bright, clear image for TV and movies. Good features, software could be better
I had a LG PF50KS, which I loved for it's 'triple wireless' features (battery power, bluetooth audit and wifi streaming) and compact stature for my living room coffee table. After 2 years of use, the image packed up and credit to LG, they issued a full refund so I thought I'd look around for something else. I tried the Viewsonic X10 4K for a week or so, but it is just far too big for my space. I settled on the M2 and after a month of use, I'm very happy with it. It has a really great image for my relatively casual entertainment needs. Clearer, better colours and dark colour definitions and dramatically brighter than the PF50KS. It is also whisper quiet, in fact inaudible when eco mode is on. Much quieter than the PF50KS. Features are good for my needs, especially bluetooth audio out. It's good that it has the Android aptoide OS, but it is fiddly to use. Firstly I had to dig around online (including an informative review on Amazon UK) to find out that it is possible to install another app, called Aptoide, which is essentially an updated version of the onboard app store. You have to download an .apk file and install it via USB. Once installed, you open that app, and can download additional apps. Some of the apps look dodgy and there are alarming pop up advertisements that take over the screen. But the relevant media apps all seem to be there. The remote does not work with many/all of the apps, so after some more research and trial and error, I worked out that I could plug in a bluetooth mouse and run things properly with the remote in one hand and mouse in the other. Manageable, but not exactly slick. My main persisting issue is that I can't play Netflix properly. The issue is that the aspect ratio automatically adjusts to the wrong setting so that the image appears squashed in from the sides. The aspect ratio setting can be brought up with the remote, but it's very frustratingly greyed out, and thus impossible to use. Strangely enough, it only became greyed out after the onboard operating system updated itself to v0.57. Before that, the aspect ratio could be used in netflix and so the image could be correctly adjusted. I tried a complete reset, but this did not roll back the OS from v0.57 and the aspect ratio setting remains greyed out. I tried using older versions of the netflix app that can be found on the aptiode store but no joy. I called netflix and they said it was a hardware issue and they couldn't support. So only choice seems to be to stream netflix from another source over HDMI. I'm yet to get in touch with viewsonic tech support, so will see if they can help. Other than this annoyance, it's a great projector. Note, I sent the first one back as it was only possible to properly focus the top half OR the bottom half of the screen, not all of it together. The second machine is crisp and clear from corner to corner. Édit: update March 2021. An automatic update to the operating system was rolled out aspect ratio issues mentioned above are now completely fixed! Thanks to ViewSonic tech support!

Nice little guy, with one important flaw.
Viewsonic M2 in really nice piece of equipment, small enough to be called portable but packing enough punch to provide a home cinema experience in a dimly lit room or during a day if the curtains are closed. The app store is kinda clunky, some apps might need a mouse to be operated properly, so one star gone from my final verdict. Now the bad part. It is advertised as not having to be centered as the software will take care of correcting the screen. It's not entirely true. Using H keystone or 4 poins correction really cripples fps. Playback becomes choppy and movies almost unwatchable. Turning this options off gets rid of the problem. Viewsonic M2 is still a compact, able and nice piece IF you're able to accept that one of its selling points is basically useless. If not, substract 2 stars from the score.

it was great while it worked
10/10 for packaging quality 8/10 for image quality 8/10 for brightness 9/10 for sound quality (given the size of the device) 1/10 for network performance - the unit seemed faulty where it was unable to connect to 5G wifi, only 2.4G wifi, and even then it was stuttering and buffering streaming from the local server. and btw, the projector was sitting RIGHT NEXT the wifi router! ermmmmm i tried to make as many changes to the router settings, different wifi channels, security, even totally removed security altogether, nop, still won't cconnect to the 5G wifi. it runs andriod, yes, but uses a propriatry wifi, you doesn't seem you can replace it with off the shelf wifi dongle. In the end I had few options: 1. lower the quality of the image drastically - losing the quality of the image and the enjoyment of it 2. get a firestick/chromecast/the likes - breaks the slickness of the setup i wanted to have and adds an extra unit to connect, power and control - and why? i already have all the apps i need installed? 3. return it - because there's simply no replacement for the dongle itself and there doesn't seem to be enough support of that I choose 3

Picture is amazing
I bought the Viewsonic M1 to try it out as a first trip into having my own budget projector for sub £200 it was really impressive and we loved it but the build quality was flimsy and plastic the bar that it sits on to point is really knaff and makes the picture wonky unless you get it perfect overall the thing felt very cheap the picture although sharp and HD quality wasn't very bright or deep with sharp colours. Coming on to the M2 this item jesus christ! the difference was immediate the item for a start is 4 times bigger than the M1 so don't expect it to fit in your pocket - secondly its a premium build larger product with a real quality feel to it, its like the M1 was made as a kids version of this item, this is a proper machine. Picture quality straight out of the box is sharp and deep with rich colours and depth extremely sharp, in all fairness I couldn't tell between this picture and our LCD TV its that good. For the price it totally stacks up and justifies its price point - very impressed, it comes with a premium carry case and remote- none of it has been made cheaply - even the packaging is a knockout , with layers of sleeves and boxes and presentation, one of the best hifi/av purchases I have ever made..

So very disappointed, after so much researching.
All I wanted was a projector that could show Powerpoint and pdfs as a standalone smart projector with no PC It MIGHT be able to do it, but you will need some good IT skills to do so.... First bypass the TV Apps pre installed - install a browser, install the full Aptoide loader, install MS Powerpoint, try and install "mouse toggle", find out it wont work, plug in a mouse, then find out you haven't enough USBs to plug in your project.. Ah just send it back. I did try my Firestick in it, which just highlighted how slow the M2 is, but it couldn't find the USBs, perhaps with a few more hours spent... Ok I could have tried sourcing a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but their comes a point! Not the brightest screen either. Perhaps if you have a very dark room, and only want to watch TV ....

I love it - This an a Roku dongle are a marriage made in heaven
Firstly I hate big TVs. Just the sight of them in a room turns me off. I decided to try this for my bedroom as I sometimes like to watch movies from my bed. When I first got it the built in apps were useless so I bought a Roku dongle which works amazingly well. There seems to be more built in apps now but I haven't tried them. It is quite compact and I have it on a camera tripod at the end of my bed pointing at the end wall. My wall is painted kinda dark and it has no problem showing a bright clear image. Admittedly it struggles when the window shutters are open but I mainly use it last thing at night. The auto keystone correction is good. The manual 4 corner alignment can be a bit tricky to get right but works well once you do. Sound quality isn't great but is acceptable. I connected it to a bluetooth speaker but there was obvious latency which made it hard to watch certain dialog heavy programmes. I really like being able to put it under the bed when I don't want to see it or bring it into another room. I'm not a really cinema buff so am happy with the performance of this device.

Best projector
No projector can beat in this price range however it's overpriced here in India but this performs best when compared to epson 3lcd full hd and benq dlp full hd. Pro's : 1. Compact 2. Smart projector 3. No heat low fan noise 4 . Great design 5 . Sound quality is also great 6 . Also a short throw Con's : 1 . Frame loss when using default wifi dongle. am using hdmi wireless display reciever. 2. Performs only in dark but for 1200 lumens it's great. 3. Apps are useless don't know about Netflix but Amazon Prime video should be updated 4. Unable to project brightest areas very well
