Easy to begin making kefir and to maintain for later batches. Creamy, tasty flavor.
These kefir grains are excellent, active, and well cared for. I put a pouch in 2 liters of whole milk, and it began fermenting right away and produced a rich, creamy kefir with a pleasantly tangy flavor. The powdered grains multiply steadily, a sign of vitality and quality. So far easy to maintain, resilient, a reliable, long‑term culture.

Good dtuff
Great instructions. Be patient. First batch from new envelope can take over 24 hrs. Subsequent batchrd from the initial batch 8-12 hrs. I drink 5-6ozs every day and prebiotic is working perfectly

Kefir starter - No working !
kefir starter is absolutely useless. I tried making kefir twice, and both times I followed the directions exactly as written. No result ,the milk never turned into kefir. No thickening, no grain, no tang, nothing—just spoiled milk. don’t buy!

I love this, no mess, easy to use!!!!!
I have made yogurt for years, but never thought much about kefir, the stuff i had tasted terrible and was too sweet. I decided to retry kefir, , and make it fresh like yogurt. I wanted to start with culture before getting into grains. I only use one quart of yogurt every 2-3 weeks. shipping was prime fast. I had 1 quart of fresh goat milk, and 1/2 gallon of local cow milk, single grass fed herd, pasteurized. I made a small quart of goat yogurt, and a mixed quart of kefir. I warmed the milk in the quart jar, quart jar in pot with warm water for 30 mins ( warming it a bit helps the starter). I pitched both cultures at the same time, 6 pm. since I keep a very cool house, I snuggled the kefir next to the yogurt maker, and wrapped a dish towel around it. Perfect results on both at 6 am.( 12 hours later) Kefir tastes really good, better than the grocery store stuff. I am using a old yogurt trick, I put kefir in a ice cube tray, froze it and will use it to set the next batches. Just get the milk to room temp, then add the frozen cube, stir an hour later. I bet it will work just like yogurt starter. I tried kefri grains, from a friend, what a smelly stinky mess. I love this culture, gives me what I need with no fuss. My last batch was from a frozen cube, and I got a nice quart of kefir for baking. so the frozen cube trick works.

Pricey but did the job...
I recently purchased the Cultures for Health Kefir Starter Culture, and while the product itself delivered good results, I couldn't help but feel that it was a little pricey for what it offered. The package contained a small amount of kefir starter culture, and considering the cost, I expected a more generous quantity. Another aspect that left me somewhat disappointed was the instructions provided. As a first-time kefir maker, I was hoping for clear and detailed guidance on the preparation process, but the instructions seemed somewhat vague and lacking in crucial information. I had to search for additional resources online to understand the proper steps fully. That said, the kefir starter culture did work as promised, and my kefir turned out delicious and healthy. The cultures seemed to be of good quality, and they produced a creamy and tangy kefir drink that I enjoyed thoroughly. The taste and benefits were there, but I just wished for a smoother experience in the preparation phase. In the future, I might explore other kefir starter options that offer more value for the price and come with more comprehensive instructions, especially for beginners. While the Cultures for Health Kefir Starter Culture does the job, I feel there are better alternatives available that strike a better balance between cost and quantity while providing clearer guidance for users.

Easy Peasy - Just be patient!
Made my first batch using using room temp coconut water! It had fermented within 14 hours but I let it go and “processed” at about 40 hours. It is probably a little tangier than I’d like but I’m ok with it. I added strawberry slices, as well as some mashed ones. As another reviewer indicated, I saved out 3/4 cup before adding fruit and put into ice cube trays (2 cubes in the one I have is a 1/4). I did not strain - it seemed mixed as to do or not and the directions did not say too. I’ve got a milk one to start as soon as it comes to room temp (I know it doesn’t have too but I’m doing based off some reviews and searching online). Fingers crossed but I’m def happy with first batch as well as the ability to freeze starters!

Not what I thought I was getting
I thought this product was kefir grains that I could rehydrate and feed like a sour dough starter. It’s not like that. The package says it is good for several batches of kefir. That’s true if you’re careful and save curds and pour milk over them. I spent a lot of time researching how to find the grains and trying to sift through the kefir and they were non existent. If you want the grains you can feed, grow and find floating on top of your kefir, search for live, not dehydrated grains. I found mine on Etsy and trying to nurture this stuff along until it gets here.

Didn't Work For Me...
My first attempt did not work. The seller contacted me with some suggestions. The second attempt worked perfectly! The key for me was allowing more time, 28 hours in my case as it is winter and a horrible cold snap. So take your home temp into consideration. 5 Star for the seller reaching out and for the product.

Works great heating up the milk to room temperature seemed to be the key. Repeat customer

This Kefir Starter Powder is an absolute disaster. Despite meticulously cleaning and sanitizing the vessel and strictly adhering to the recommended temperature and procedure guidelines, it failed to ferment at all. Adding insult to injury, after just a few days of fermenting, the mixture started to develop mold. It's not just disappointing; it's downright disgusting. To make matters worse, returning this worthless product isn't even an option. This isn't your traditional kefir grains; it's more like a starter power for frustration and moldy concoctions. Save yourself the hassle and find a reliable kefir solution elsewhere. This product is a complete and utter failure.

The first batch failed. With the second, I microwaved the milk for 50 seconds. Ferment for 18 hours in a warm dark corner. Success!
