These are great little pans. I don't use them for cupcakes but instead make pizza skulls and the bake up great and don't stick. Both fun and versatile.

I ordered this pan because it seemed like a fun way to create some Halloween-themed treats. The pan arrives packaged solely with a cardboard band around it, but no scratches were seen on the one sent to me. On the inside of the cardboard band are instructions for proper care of the pan and a recipe for some chocolate spicy cakelets. The instructions say to handwash only. The pan is advertised as nonstick, but the instructions clearly specify to coat it with shortening, oil, or butter along with a dusting of flour prior to baking to prevent sticking. I used the included recipe to make some skull cakelets. It is very difficult to coat the interior with shortening and get it into all of the tiny cracks and crevices of the skull shape. Next time I will definitely use a brush and paint the inside with either melted butter or some oil. After baking, though, the cakelets popped right out and had very well-defined skull features on them. I was so happy with how they came out that I bought a second pan so I could make 12 skulls at a time in the future. Clean up is a challenge as it’s difficult to get small crevices of the mold clean. It’s made more difficult by having to hand wash the pan. It’s expensive, but I highly recommend this Nordic Ware skull pan. It has heavy duty construction, so with proper care I expect it to last for very many years. You can probably find cheaper, similar pans, but I doubt they will have the quality of construction and skull sculpture that this pan has. I try to write informative product reviews. We've used this a couple of times in just the first week and everything has turned out great - chocolate cake, white cake, and we even used it to mold a pimento cheese ball too! It's easy to cleanup, durable, and worth every penny. Al of our party guests loved the cakes - we'll surely be using this pan for years to come.

Nordicware never disappoints. My first impression was how pretty the pan is. This is not your ordinary boring charcoal colored baking pan. It sports a beautiful bronzy color that shimmers. SHIMMERS..... Sparkles always make me happy! I decided at that moment that this pan was not going back even if it didn’t work well. Just kidding. Sort of. I hesitated buying this product because of the price, and typically I find shaped pans difficult to use as my baked goods often stick and don’t come out of the pan neatly to create the desired effect. You may have to spend a little more for quality, but that quality goes to work for you. My pizza pockets popped right out of the pan, so easy to remove! I even had some cheese fall under the dough onto the pan as I was making them. Cheese. Did it stick to the pan? No. No it did not. It baked on to the pizza pocket and gave the skull a bit more of a creepy look. I stuck a cocktail sword in it there and made the sauce and cheese ooze out a little. In the words of Bob Ross, it was a “happy accident”. I even had a guest that wouldn’t eat them because it grossed him out too much. Success! Another thing, easy to remove means easy to clean! You may need to use one of the brushes you keep at the sink instead of a sponge or washcloth, to be sure all of the crevices are cleaned thoroughly, but it takes no time at all. This is officially my favorite baking pan and I have like 80. Ish. Don’t judge me. I have never loved a product enough to write a review before. This is honestly my first review ever. Such an Awesome pan! Nordicware is the best! You could hang this on your wall as art! Great detail, very solid!

I got this for Halloween and am not disappointed! The skull cakes turned out great on my first attempt. I have numerous recipes I want to try but I went with the recipe for spice cakes that came with the pan last night. They turned out spooky and delicious. A couple notes, the baking time was 5-10 minutes longer than the recipe suggests, no big deal. Only fill the molds about three-quarters. I filled mine almost to the top to utilize all of the batter and they puffed up over the mold like a cupcake. Again, no big deal. I just sliced the backs off before removing the cakes from the pan, resulting in a dish full of slightly crispy trimmed ends that are delicious, especially with ice cream. (If you’re lucky enough to find Turkey Hill eggnog ice cream, it’s a perfect compliment to these little cakes. Delicious!) I used butter cooking spray to grease the pan and five out of six of my skulls popped out perfectly. One stuck and part of the face came off, so that one got added to the odds and ends and eaten with ice cream. Cleanup was easy. Not bad at all for my first attempt... can’t wait to try again with this or another recipe.

I've had this pan for less than a week & I've already made pizza bombs & multiple batches of pumpkin bread in this. Nordic wear always has heavy duty, quality products. The skull pan is so cool, it's a classy kind of spooky. Not too cartoony or childish. I haven't had any trouble removing my bakes from the pan, I just spray a little baker's joy. I want to make everything in this pan. I'm going to look and see if they have shapes for any other seasons. It makes a big impression on people and takes no extra effort. I'm a big fan for sure. Worth the money, if you ask me

Only used once so far, but the tray was just as I had hoped! I made sure to butter the pan before pouring in the muffin mixture, and they came out easily. Very detailed, realistic looking skulls are perfect for horror-themed events with friends. So far I know firsthand that the eye sockets are the perfect size for blueberries, and the mouth can be made to open. I want to also try edible glass shards, presenting with dry ice mist, coating with white icing, rice crackers made to look like fly-babies.. In short, looking forward to making more nightmarish treats with this pan!

Fabulous quality and very heavy based. Expensive but should have years of wear. I made easy margerita pizzas, a must have for halloween

Not cheap but a good quality pan. I bought this for my daughter who has a thing for skulls. First thing we made in it was cinnamon rolls. It's pretty cool how the icing melts and drips out of the eyeball sockets. I'm sure we're going to have a lot of fun playing around with this. The pan was perfectly non-stick, a good, heavy, solid, quality cake pan! Would buy from this company again.
