20 (8 oz.) New York Strip Steaks

This was an impulse buy. Popped up under one of my regular purchases. Read reviews, took the plunge. Came very quickly, in a day, still had a bunch of dry ice, and thawed one for supper. We usually share a steak, so, I fixed it with homemade roadhouse seasoning in a hot skillet with great olive oil and a pat of butter. 4 min. on side one, then 2 min. on side 2. Came out nicely crusted, rested for a few minutes, then served. After discussing which half each of us wanted, we made our selections. Turned out perfectly. Done to a nice medium. Served with fresh Caesar Salad with homemade Caesar Dressing and a big pot of herbed, buttered mashed potatoes. Tender, buttery texture, not thin, nice size, tasted exactly like an excellent New York Strip should. We will be getting these again. I needn't have worried about this purchase. Great in every way. Nice surprise.

This was a Christmas gift. My brother loved them. Said the steaks were thin but flavorful and tender.

This is just Review Part 1 - The arrival. 10 pack, 8 oz each, individually vacuum sealed arrived within 3 days of ordering. They arrived frozen solid, in a cardboard box, inside a styrofoam cooler, packed with dry ice (frozen CO2). They are so solidly frozen that they rattle together like plastic blocks. Review Part 1 - Consumption I sous vide these steaks frozen for 2 hours at 129F then pan seared them in a screaming hot cast iron skillet for about 30 seconds each side then basted them in an herb butter. The only problem being is they are just to thin (3/4 inch) and the searing process, as quick as it was, overcooked them. The steaks were tender and juicy, but with a bit of grizzle here and there. I think the batch I will try thawing to room temperature and just searing them in a screaming hot cast iron skillet. That should crust the outside but leave inside medium rare/medium. Ok i feel qualified to leave an accurate review. I ordered 10 steak then went back for 20 more. I have eaten 15 steaks so far. 3 out of the 15 were very marbled and outstanding. 6 out of 15 were somewhat marbeled and 6 had very little marbling at all. Even the 12 with minimal marbling were fairly tender with a little gristle. The color of the steak when I place on counter to thaw are very red in the package but once opened they turn a pale color that is not attractive. I actually looked up 'lab grown meat' because i was a little worried. All of the steaks taste good with the 3 very marbled one being very delicious. No off tastes at all. For the price these days of beef not a bad deal but not great either. When I bought the first 10 and was more impressed. When I went back for 20 more I have yest to pull a very marbled steak, so i wont be returning for more. I would suggest buying 10 then see how it turns out for you. I would actually almost rate them 3.5.

Great steaks. Tender with nice marble. 50 steaks came individually frozen inside styrofoam container with 5 boxes that have 10 steaks per box. These aren't large steaks but 8 ounces is good portion. Cooked nice on cast iron and grill. Took about 5 days to deliver. I'd buy again.

Can’t complain about the portion or number exactly as advertised. But damn sinew and fat throughout. From a veteran ten year chef I’d guess they were mostly end pieces from the sub primal, I’m gonna go back to bjs and cut the meat myself.
