Cooperative and exciting!
We bought three Peaceable Kingdom board games (Stackem up, Race to the treasure, and this one). All three are fun, but Dino Escape is our favorite because of the combination of memory game with the excitement of an “erupting” volcano. My 6yr old son used to hate board games because he is extremely competitive and so he would usually end up in tears every time he lost. But with Dino Escape (and other Peaceable Kingdom games), he really enjoys working together and has so much fun trying to rescue the Dinosaurs. He even made up his own additional rules to make the game more fun by assigning strategy to each token. For a kid who used to cry after every game, it is a miracle that he laughs when we all lose together and the volcano “erupts”. After owning the game for several months he still requests to play Dino Escape at least 3-4 times a week and even will request to play this instead of watching a show during his little sisters’ nap time! I can’t recommend this game more highly! The game itself (as with all the Peaceable Kingdom games) is of very high quality and the game disc pieces look and feel like they will last for a long time. My only recommendation is that the volcano should be made out of plastic instead of the thick cardboard because I worry it might start fraying after a few years. But so far, after 2-3months of heavy use, we haven’t had any issues.

I have a 5 year old god son that is obsessed with dinosaurs and is starting to get into board games. I thought this would be a nice game we both can play and have a great time. Definitely excited my expectations! The pieces are simple and yet durable. The board and chips are made with thicker cardboard, so it should hold up over time. The dinosaur pieces are great! Plus, if you lose a dinosaur you can easily replace it with one you have! The directions were clear, except if pieces could move in one or both directions on the board. (Didn’t matter to us. We made our rule that pieces could only move in one direction to make it difficult and we were happy with that!) The games went from 5-10 minutes, depending on how often I ended up rolling a volcano! With such quick games, it kept his attention the whole time. Also, even if you end up losing, you’re still building a volcano…which is pretty sweet! My favorite part of this game is that you work together as a team to save the dinosaurs! It was a super fun way to play, since many other games are have us competing against each other. We had great conversations about why we chose to move a certain dinosaur or were able to remind each other of what ferns had already been flipped. There was a lot of high-fiving and hoping each other did well! This game is totally worth it and I think we’ll be playing it for a couple years!

Great for kids, boring for Mom
The quality of this game is great. I love the cooperative concept. My kids love it. If it were up to my kids it would be 5 stars, but because I often play with them I docked it a point because it's not my favorite. It's a little boring, it's easy to win, and pretty simple without much intrigue. The simplicity makes it so my 4 year old will play even though he often loses interest mid way through games, but he enjoys this one. I would buy it again because my kids love dinosaurs so I think it will interest then for a while, and they can play by themselves without my help (4 year old and 6 year old), but I do question if they weren't so into dinosaurs if it would be a first choice game for them.

My son's favorite game
After reading a recommendation from The Wirecutter, I picked up this game for my 3-year-old son for Christmas. He picked it up quickly and still loves playing it years later. It's essentially a memory game - you move 3 dinosaurs around the board and try to find the corresponding tokens to send the dinos to "safety" before bad dice rolls end the game. It's easy to understand and it works well, no matter how many players you have. Because everyone is working together to save the dinos, you win or lose as a team. If you have a young kid, this is an excellent gateway game to help them understand taking turns and using their memories.

Great for a 4-year-old
Our 4 year-old grandson loved this game - wanted to play it 3 times in a row right away. His 3 year-old sister didn't love it as much and moved on to something else.

Child and mother approved!!!
My niece just turned nine and I purchased for her bday. I bought her the mermaid game by Peaceable Kingdoms, and she loves it so much she bought a second one just to have at their vacation cabin upstate. This year, she is obsessed with dinosaurs and learning all about them. This game was another hit. Peaceable Great game that teaches children cooperation towards a common goal. She loves it and her mother approves. 100% recommendation.

Good for kids
It's very easy for small kids to learn and it's a fun game for the whole family. We usually do 3-4 rounds of game that last 30 minutes and that's about the time a 4 year old can focus for. It's lovely and will by more games in the future from this company.

Fantastic board game for my 5-year-old son. Our Favorite!
My son usually gets bored of board games (like snakes & ladders of frustration) but this quick game keeps his attention and he wants to play round after round! Even when we lose the game, he still has fun and doesn't get upset - because losing the game means finishing the volcano puzzle. For young kids who get bored or upset with other games, I highly recommend dino escape!
