Exceptional quality!
The P3 P0270 Mold Alert Electronic Thermo-Hygrometer (New) has exceeded my expectations and then some! I suspected that my old humidity gauge was inaccurate, so I needed another to verify and provide an precise reading. This instrument was selected particularly because it has a dew point reading. I live in a very hot climate and run the air-conditioner or heater around the year. Plus. I have asthma and dry eye issues, but I have mold allergies if the humidity is too high. Therefore, it is critical to pin point the correct humidity level and use a humidifier only when needed within a small range. With the air conditioner or heater on, the inside air is very dry at times. I bought a new humidifier to remedy that, but its humidity reading seemed exceptionally low, so it ran constantly. My stand alone hygrometer was so old that I didn't trust it. So, I ordered the P3 P0270 Mold Alert Electronic Thermo-Hygrometer (New). My assumption was correct; my old humidity gauge was not correct, and the P3 P0270 Mold Alert Electronic Thermo-Hygrometer (New) was spot on! Even better, it cycles changes in humidity almost immediately. This hygrometer is exceptionally accurate and has an indicator when the humidity exceeds 50%, which you can turn on or off. It reads temperature, humidity, and dewpoint to a tenth of a percent. It can be hung on the wall or attached to the provided stand. It is also compact and unassuming while still having the numbers large enough to easily read. I would highly recommend this product!

Environmental protection
Nothing exciting, it's plastic, it's not overly sturdy, BUT it works wonderfully! Long battery life is a plus. It's the only way I can keep track of temperature and humidity (including highs and lows over a period of time) and the warning light for high humidity is great when you are humidifying for medical reasons -- it let's you know when enough is enough.

It didn't last very long for me
This worked well while it worked. It stopped after about a year. I think it was pretty accurate & nice to know the humidity level in your home

Good, inexpensive dew point monitor
This product is advertised as a mold alarm. That's misleading. It neither measures mold growth nor displays any sort of spore count. The manufacturer's idea is that, above 65%, there's an increased risk of mold growth. So it flashes a little backlit frowny-face icon to let you know when the rh is above 65%. That idea is very common, but pretty weak as a consumer-appropriate risk signal. It's the rh *at the surface* that governs mold risk... not the rh measured in the middle of a room in the open air. If any sensor could measure rh in the first millimeter of air next to the potentially moldy surfaces, it would be a relevant indicator of mold risk. This device sits on a desk or table. On the other hand, this sensor measures and display air temperature and rh...AND... it converts those values to dew point and displays that value as well. That's a pretty big deal. It's the lowest-cost dew point display that I'm aware of. Other instruments which have this function cost well over $100, and they are hard to find. This little gem displays t/rh/Td clearly, for a very economical price. Even more surprising, in the range of interest for homeowners (between 20F and 70°F dewpoints), the instrument correlates very closely with instruments costing far more (over $300.00). This device responds very slowly, but that's to be expected. If you can wait for a few minutes after any change in the air temperature or dew point, you get a surprisingly accurate reading. Plus, if you understand that *high dew points* really are the issue for mold risk, then in a very indirect way, the instrument could be called a mold risk alert. It's just that the risk level should be set as maximum dew points, not maximum rh. (Probably at 65°F dew point for air conditioned buildings, and at 40°F dew point in heated buildings... but it all depends on the building and the climate, and many other factors) All-in-all, a very nice little dew point sensor, for a very economical price.

Not what I was expecting.
Not quite what I was expecting. I gave it two stars because it's not totally useless but almost.

Pretty accurate for the price
Bought this to go with a new humidifier for the bedroom. Wanted something that would be mobile and have decent accuracy. This is easy to operate, and appears to genuinely read changes in our indoor environment after an adjustment period. We start to see a change in readings after about a half hour. If we move it to another room, it again changes. I have also tried moving it from near the humidifier to the other side of the room, and darned if it doesn't drop a few degrees--as it should. Definately worth the money. Has helped us keep the humidity in the house more skin and sinus-friendly, despite running a woodstove.

Made of flimsy materials, but works!
Okay, so I'm not impressed with the casing, buttons or overall build, but the item works great. I bought it to measure the humidity in the air before and after using my new humidifier; according to the device, the air went from 24% to 46%. Good information, and I'm sold. My advice? Ignore the somewhat flimsy outside and be happy with the functionality and price.
