Hayward D.E.CX1308 White Schmear Replacement Unions In-line Sight Glasses and Perflex D.E. Filter

My skimmer picked up some water over winter and the bottom developed a big crack. Noticed in spring when the skimmer completely drained overnite. Searched online and found a couple videos showing how to use Schmear to fix a broken skimmer so I figured I had nothing to lose...maybe $100 for everything needed versus a thousand bucks to have the concrete cut out and the skimmer replaced, etc. IT WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL!!! My tip for you is this...mix up a batch and let it sit sealed in a jar over night. The consistency will be much more smooth and very little chunky stuff. The videos say it'll all dissolve quickly...nope! You stir and stir and stir. It'll still be a bit chunky. But when I let it sit over night before using it was much smoother the next day. My skimmer was repaired, I took a week and did multiple layers so hopefully it's quite sturdy for years to come. If not I'll just repair it again! Ha!

Take your time with the MEK, the pellets do not dissolve quickly. I'd suggest putting them in a sealed glass container overnight after you mix them up a bit, maybe a few days. Mix, sit, mix, sit, etc.

It takes a lot of effort to get these pellets to melt in the MEK. But once you do get a good slurry it does a great job of patching the skimmer basket assy.

I used this to fix my pool skimmer. It worked great. Takes a long time to dissolve, works best if you put it in a jar with a lid and let it sit for a while. Literally saved me thousands.

Needed this stuff and looked a long time to be sure I got the right product. It worked, finally, but took a looooooong time to disolve.
