Please get calibration checked from a Local Store before use, but good for the aspiring enthusiast.
So I've been performing most simple and medium difficult vehicular maintenance tasks in my parking lot and a torque wrench had always been on my Wishlist, but it is a rare product which is not frequently seen in most small-medium scale garages and whenever I've found it available, it has always been very expensive, and started above Rs. 7000-8000. Why Do You Need Torque Wrench? When machines are assembled using Nuts and Bolts, the nuts are tightened to a specific Tightening Torque which the manufacturer has determined after huge amounts of research. Normal hand tools can be used to tighten Nuts and bolts but there is no assessment of how much torque we might end up applying. e.g Weak person will apply less torque to a particular Bolt while a Strong Person might apply a lot of torque. Too less or too much of torque is NOT desired as both as worrying consequences. If it is too LESS, the bolts will come off and cause problems. If it is too HIGH, then the BOLTS might break the part or the BOLT itself might strip as it was not engineered for that amount of torque. So a Torque Wrench is a PRECISION device for ensuring you apply only the RATED TORQUE for that particular application. Who Uses Torque Wrenches? Torque Wrenches are used by Automobile Manufacturing Plants which make Thousands of Vehicles a year. Each part is torqued at the Factory using Precise Torque Wrenches. Few car service centres like Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes use Torque Wrenches as advised in their Official Company Repair Manuals. In India, I can safely say 60% of garages are not using TORQUE WRENCHES but are tightening nuts and bolts using their experience or estimate. Inside the Box of the Amazon Basics Torque Wrench 1. Sturdy Storage Box for safely storing the Torque Wrench when it is NOT in USE. 2. Torque Wrench itself. 3. Owners Manual for the Torque Wrench (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO READ for NEW USERS) Where Is This 1/2 inch Drive Amazon Basics Torque Wrench Useful? I found it useful for the following applications :- a) Tightening Car Wheel Bolts to Torque Specs (e.g Hyundai Grand i10 Wheels : 65~79 lb-Ft, Nm 88~107) b) Tightening Brake Calliper Carrier Bolts which is recommended when changing Brake Disc. c) Tightening Suspension Mounting Bolts d) Any other NUT OR BOLT with Specified Torque range matching the Torque Range of this wrench. e) Useful for most Oil Sump Drain Plugs (e.g Hyundai i10 34.3 ~ 44.1 N.m, Swift Dzire K12 35Nm) f) Can be used to Torque in both RATCHETING DIRECTION with a FLIP of the Switch. Calibration I assumed the device will be pre calibrated but due to shipping and transit, the spring might lose their calibration and mine by off by about 15-20 Lb-Feet. That means a wrong torque of higher nature will be applied, which is harmful for very sensitive applications and can effectively defeat the purpose of a torque wrench. So please get the torque wrench calibrated before usage. Where It Is Not Useful? 1. Smaller bolts in the engine or on machines need very small torque <20 Nm and so it is not usable there as this one is meant for higher applications. 2. Not Useful for Spark Plugs as again they are needing Small Torque upto 17-18Nm or so. 3. Bicycles also require much smaller torque than this Range allows. Disadvantages 1. I feel the spring is a little harder to compress and attain HIGHER TORQUE RANGES above 120Nm (Some Car Tyres) as a considerable twisting force is needing to overcome the spring tension. 2. Locking/Unlocking Lever is a little hard and gets stuck sometimes. 3. Pound-Foot Scale is more friendlier for setting and changing values compared to the Newton-Meter scale as it is LINEAR. So conversion tables and calculators will need to be religiously used. Care To Be Taken 1. This tool has to be used very carefully and all precautions must be followed for ensuring correct torque values. 2. Callibration : Upto 12000 Clicks a year or 1 Year and then the device should be calibrated, and so we need to find local shops for the same. But again, do check it before use. 3. Do not drop this Torque Wrench as the Springs might lose calibration. 4. It is meant for ONLY TIGHTENING. Do not USE TO LOOSEN ANY BOLT OR NUT. Value For Money? This Amazon Basics Torque Wrench is one of the ONLY Options available on most eCommerce sites and I feel it is a good tool to add to the TOOLKIT, but it is NOT an ALLROUNDER as for smaller applications like Brake Calliper Pins, Spark Plugs etc. we need a Smaller Range and perhaps a Smaller Form Factor. But considering it is a PRECISION instrument, I think it is decently priced. So, if you are a MECHANIC at HEART who wants to ensure a perfect job, then do consider picking and starting to use a torque wrench and for Most Engine and Suspension Work, this could be a good start.

Received a faulty product
I bought the Amazon 1/2-Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench about 14 months before and did not get a chance to use it until now. The quality of the product is average, but it will serve the purpose. I am giving this only 3 stars because the product is received had a manufacturing/assembling fault which took me a long time to figure out. The pin that clicks inside the wrench was wrongly place and this led to the wrench no clicking. I ended up breaking the locking bolt on my planer machine while testing the product. So i did some research and finally found out the fault after many trial and error. Now the tool works fine, but i had to spend extra money on the broken bolt of my planer and had lost a few hours of time doing this. And now after getting this corrected and reassembling the product I can get the click but the click is not strong enough as expected. So i have to say that this is useful and the packing is good. But the quality can be improved a lot. May be the product i received is faulty. But since I found this after more than a year, I don't think i can claim any warranty.

Must have for DIY people and definitely a value for money product!
------------------------------------------------ ■ In the box: ------------------------------------------------ 1. Torque wrench 2. Torque wrench hard plastic storage box ------------------------------------------------ ✔ Pros: ------------------------------------------------ 1. The torque range of this wrench is 27.1-203.5 (~3 to 20 kg m) 2. 20 kg of torque is a medium sized wrench which should be enough to handle any lug nuts Generally below are the lug nut wheel torque specs for cars in India: Hatchback ~12 kg Sedan ~15 kg SUV ~18 kg 3. The click sound is quite pleasant to hear and also gives slight slack to be sure to stop at that point ------------------------------------------------ ✖ Cons: ------------------------------------------------ 1. Only model amazon sells is this medium range 20 kg model, Other smaller 10 kg and larger 30 kg torque specked model should also be sold. (Refer the attached picture for the exact model numbers) 2. Could had provided the calibration certificate and date 3. The manual says the torque wrench will be good for 10,000 click or 1 year of usage, after that it need to be calibrated. Amazon should provide service to re-calibrate the torque wrench in future even for a nominal price. Else, this will become useless after a year or so of usage. 4. The newton meter scale is quite messy unlike the pound feet scale which runs in 10s 20s etc with round numbers Probably amazon should produce metric only torque wrenches, after all ~190/193 nations in the world uses Metric (newton meter / kg m) rather than pound feet / pound

It's good (at least in the short term)
Long term accuracy remains to be seen but I measured the accuracy of it by hanging weights till it clicked at any given torque value and according to my calculations its accuracy is ±4% which is pretty good for what it is and definitely good enough for what I need. For lug nuts and similar use cases where absolute accuracy isn't needed, you can absolutely make do with this. Get it calibrated at your local metrology center if you must. Typically they charge 1000rs for it.

It works
It gets the job done. It's not as well built as the premium torque wrenches but it does what it is made for. I bought this for my hybrid bike to install new bottom bracket, crankset and cassette. It clicks. These are some expensive components which should be torqued to specification and I didn't what to risk ruining them. So I actually felt lucky to find this. 1600 change is a steal. Before using I tested it on my dad's bike for whether it is clicking or not. Please note that at low torque the click sensation will be small. If you don't pay attention you may miss the click and keep turning it further. So please read the manual provided before using it. I didn't check the accuracy and calibration but my bicycle is fine. Maybe I'll check its calibration and update this review later.
