Type K, most universal and cheapest probes around most industries. Weirdly my work is type J.The probe that comes with it is plastic jacket so don't try to push it high on the temps. Fiberglass braid ones are cheap to find if you need a few more degrees of range.I would say the probe is mostly for hvac and other temperatures below 200*f. Important tool to add to your arsenal
Great tool, was a little challenging to figure out how to get the Bluetooth connected for the app to use remote meter but once I figured it out worked flawlessly

Not a new thermometer.
It didn't have a thermocouple wire included and packaging was a little different than described. Also didn't have batteries like it said on the box and the unit is scuffed and dirty. Deffinently not new.
